On The Court

Chapter 19 - Discussion

I keep walking fast towards Andy's room. I don't want to know what he is going to do to me. He might as well not do anything, but I still don't want to know. I see the room. Andy is still deeply asleep in her bed, I go sit next to her. The men followed me in the room. I'm less scared now, even if my only possible protection is asleep right now. They come up to the door, I open just enough to let them talk.

"Hello Mrs. Thompson." The smaller guy says.

"Go away I have nothing to tell you." I stay polite by my tone.

"And why that?" The taller one says now.

"Do I need a reason to not talk to you now?" I ask him with arrogance.

"Apparently you have papers to give us to participate in the reality show. Do you have them?" The little one restarts.

"I repeat my question." I tell him.

The taller agent breathes loud.

"No you don't need a reason to talk to us, but we wanna talk to you." The taller one starts.

I let go of a big breath on my turn. Then I open the door and get out of the room to talk.

"What?" I ask.

"So, do you have the papers signed?" Tall one starts.

"No. But let me ask you guys a couple of questions." I manage to start the discussion over as they look at each other in the eyes, stressfully.

"Yes..." He answers against his true will.

"Then you won't mind me asking who was the winner of the last season of the show." I ask normally like it's nothing to ask.

He takes lots of time to answer before speaking again. Like andy said, really weird they are. When he finally answers, it's to say he wasn't on the staff last year so he couldn't remember well.

"Oh really?" I ask doubtfully, knowing there's something deeper they just don't want to tell me.

As his phones rings, he hurries responding the call, his colleague accompanying him for no good reason.

"It's not the last time you hear from me!" I scream in the hallway as he keeps speaking on the phone. But I know he heard me.

As I see the one holding the phone hang up, he turns back and finds my face. The only thing I can see from him now is middle finger holding up in air, up to the ceiling of the hospital. Yet I don't know what he means by doing that, I don't like him following me around like I'm a dog he follows and holds on a leash. I need him to get off me, or the leash will just get shorter and shorter until he gets what he wants from me whatever it is.

The day after, Andy is out of the hospital. She's still a little tired, but she sleeps a lot and I collect the money the people can give us on the street. I keep thinking about what happened yesterday. What did that finger even mean? I have a training this afternoon, and I count on talking to them about this thing they did leaving alone in the hall like I'm some useless thing you didn't even know existed anymore. For now, I go buy some snacks for andy, she hasn't been eating a lot these days. It kind of worries me, but she says she's fine. I don't know what to take her but I should probably tell Nick she will be resting for the next couple of days.
