Pokemon The Force

Chapter 114 - 10: Dewford Gym

Arriving at the gym once again next morning, Soul was ready to challenge it. He wouldn't use Axew for this one since its newly captured, and wasn't experience as the others were.

Opening the door, Soul walked towards the lone path as he looked around the hallway. The place seemed quiet, but its probably because of him arriving this early.

Reaching out of the hallway Soul could see a normal Pokemon battlefield, as a sky-blue haired and eyes, a man could be seen meditating with his Pokemon.

Hearing someone was walking on the ground, Brawly opened his eyes as he saw a young person with black hair and golden tip at the end of it. He also has heterochromia eyes. Somehow… he seemed familiar.

Brawly: Hello there! Are you here to challenge the gym?

Soul: Yes, I hope that we can have a good fight.

Brawly: How do you know if I'm the gym leader here?

Soul: I've asked some trainers that have challenged you and the locals.

Brawly: Really? Man, being known makes one vulnerable huh?

He said while scratching his hair. Soul couldn't agree more as when he came home after defeating the elite-four, a day after, there were tons, and he means tons of news reporters that wanted to ask him and his parents all kinds of questions.

It was annoying as he couldn't make them leave without giving them what they want, so he came up with an idea. He would be hiding in the forest, and the first news reporter to find him first would get all of their questions answered, and the rest of them must leave.

This made some of the news reporters to leave as they didn't bring any Pokemon with them. Let's just say it was fun watching them getting attacked by wild Pokemon, and always run with their heavy equipment. After that day, no news reporters dared to come to his hometown and interview him ever again.

Snapping out of it, Soul introduced himself as does Brawly. It didn't take long before Brawly called the judge here as both of them took their stance.

The rules were simple. Both parties could only use up to two Pokemon when all of the opposite party Pokemon have fainted, you would win.

Taking out their Poke Ball, they threw it up as two Pokemon could be seen coming out of it. Brawly went with Machop, while Soul chose Combusken as he intended to win this with only him.

The battle has started as Brawly told Machop to use Bulk Up, which increased its attack and defense. At the same time, Soul's told his Combusken to use Work Up, increasing both his attacks and special attacks.

Soul: Combusken use Flame Charge on Machop.

Brawly: Counter it with Quick Guard.

Combusken whole body flared up in flames as he charged at Brawly's Machop at a high speed. Machop quickly used Quick Guard as it extends both of its hands in front of the charging Combusken who was about to hit Machop when he moved to the side.

Seeing this Brawly was surprised as Machop was hit from behind by Combusken. Quick Guard required that you have to block your enemy attack in front of you, so it didn't work when Combusken moved behind Machop and hit it with Flame Charge as his speed was increased by one.

After getting hit Machop was sent flying before it managed to land on the ground again with both of its legs, its back was in pain due to the attack, but it shrugged it off and stood up with a fierce look.

Brawly: Alright Machop! Since the situations are like this let's use Revenge.

Soul: Use Sand Attack on its eyes.

Machop left hand glowed as it was the one who ran towards Combusken this time. When it was close enough, Combusken kicked a bunch of dirt into its face, making it blind. Soul took this chance and called out for the next move.

Soul: Combusken use Double Kick.

Brawly: Oh no! Machop, try and find out where Combusken is and hit it!

What happened next was unexpected, Machop managed to land a hit on Combusken while it got hit by Double Kick and fainted.

Brawly returned Machop back as Soul asked Combusken if he wanted to continue to battle. Combusken nodded and did some kick on the air, showing that he could still go on.

Brawly: That was an excellent move. But let see how you handle my next Pokemon.

He said as he sent a Makuhita out.

Brawly: Use Force Palm!

Makuhita begins to send several air punches that created a concentrated air bullet towards Combusken, who begun to dodge it with ease. Seeing that Force Palm won't do anything, Brawly switched out his tactic.

Brawly: Makuhita, stop using Force Palm and use Vital Throw.

Soul: Use Flame Burst and stop it.

While Makuhita was rushing towards Combusken, Combusken punched both of his hands on the ground as a wave of flame appeared beneath it and flew towards Makuhita who couldn't stop its movement and got hit.

Once again, Brawly was surprised by the sudden change. He didn't expect that Combusken would know Flame Burst and now he had to pay the price by losing the battle as Makuhita could be seen fainted.

Returning it back to his Poke Ball, Brawly walked over to Soul and handed him the badge that looks like a knuckle.

Brawly: It was a good battle. Seems like I have to train harder if someone like you would appear again.

Soul: Well… let's just say I'm a one of my kind.

Brawly: I hope that we can fight again.

Soul: Yeah… watch me win the League.

Brawly: Aren't you a confident little bean?

Soul: ...

Soul left the gym as Brawly looked confused at the end.

Brawly: Did I say something wrong?

He shrugged it off as he went to heal his Pokemon and started to analyze the previous battle he just had.
