Pokemon: The Wandering Guardian

"Wow" was all Lan had to say.

As he entered the lab he looked around at the large amount of high tech equipment here in the lab.

He recognized Transfer machines, incubation machines, health restoration machines, and some that he even did not know. The lab featured many large work stations most of which were disorderly and had layers of books and paper sprawled across the top of them.

A huge map of the Kanto region was hanging on the sidewall. It had many notes on it along with the locations of cities and such were highlighted.

Lan: " This is so much larger than the lab back home and how a lab should be"

Daisy hearing what Lan just said replied " Yeah It's pretty roomy in the lab but when grandpa has many of his assistants it gets pretty cramped in here. Based on my experience this is as clean as it is going to get "

Lan "Still this is amazing "

"You still haven't seen the best part yet. Follow me"

Daisy grabbed Lan's wrist and proceeded to drag him to the back of the laboratory where there was a large metal double door.

As soon as they went through the door Lan was greeted by a huge greenhouse filled with many trees plants and pokemon. There was a large number of pokemon that were resting and playing on the lawn in the middle of the facility.

Lan was amazed he had never seen such a large habitat in a facility.

Daisy looked at his gaping face and laughed. "You should see the look on your face. HaHa"

Lan realized what he was doing at the moment and blushed with shame.

They eventually composed himself and they both made their way through the greenhouse and exited it bringing him to a large field.

Daisy suddenly yelled " Grandpa the new researcher you have been waiting on just arrived"

Lan looked at her questioningly and she just shrugged her shoulders. " This is how I usually find him since he us usually immersed with his research

Lan nodded in understanding because it was the same with Professor Birch. He suddenly remembered something and asked, " Daisy do you participate in Pokemon contests?"

Daisy "Yeah I do I have been participating since I got my first pokemon. They are really fun and I love them! It is just that I just won a large contest here in Kanto a couple of months ago and now in the cities, I usually get recognized and surrounded by people.

[Sigh]

now in a week or so I am leaving on a tour with a professional groomer to finally complete the last part of my advanced Profession license. That's why I am glad you are here to take care of Grandpa."

Looking at her "Take care of ?"

Daisy seemed to realize her mistake and blushed in embarrassment and corrected herself "Sorry I meant research"

Suddenly a man could be seen walking towards them. He had a head full of silver hair and wore a white lab coat and a satchel on his side. In his hands was a pokemon. It was brown and had many tiny feet with a horn on its hand.

Lan recognized the pokemon it is a Weedle. He then looked at the equally as stunned Daisy and asked: " That's a Weedle right?".

Daisy replied subconsciously "Yes"

Lan " They are poisonous right?"

Daisy "Yep"

Lan " I think you were right when you said " Take care of "

...

3 months later

Currently, Lan can be found in the forest behind Professor Oaks Laboratory taking care of the feeding and delivery of medicine to some of the grass and bug pokemon.

???: "Hey Lan you over here?! Gramps asked for you to come back to the lab. He has something for you to do."

Lan: " Thanks Gary" while getting up and brushing off the dirt off of his pants.

Gary: " No problem."

They start walking back to the lab

Gary looking unsure and contemplating something asks" Yo Lan you know in a couple of months I am going to choose my first Pokemon." Pausing for a bit "I am still deciding on which one to choose. I was wondering if you can help me?"

Lan: "Mmmm" thinking for a bit and smirking " well I am not going to tell you which one to choose but I would say make sure you consider the Pokemon's personality and see if it goes along with your goals. Something like beating your rival Ash"

" He is not my rival!!! I am going to be the champion and show him that he is nothing special." He snorts and stomps off.

Shaking his head at Gary's attitude Lan just smiles and keeps on heading back to the lab.

When Lan arrives at the Lab. He is greeted by a man with grey silver hair and bloodshot eyes.

Lan: "Professor did you stay up all night again?"

Professor Oak: " You caught me again Lan." rubbing the back of his head with his hand.

Oak "Just keep it between us and don't tell Daisy, please. You know how exciting things can get."

Professor Oak " I was too busy finishing up the project I was working on. I call it the Pokedex and I am still working out the bugs and trying to get it approved by the league for mass production. It will eventually replace Trainer ID cards and help us keep track of Pokemon in the wild through the trainers themselves." who was trembling with excitement.

Lan:" Yeah I won't. She will be back I guess in the next couple of days."

'She left like months ago and I didn't have anyone to help me take care of the Professor and Gary besides Mrs. Ketchum. She has helped me out a great deal these past couple of days. I need to thank her by getting a gift'

Oak "Lan that's kind of what I wanted to talk with you about. Daisy is getting into Vermillion city from her contests tour with the groomer. I also have a request from the Jenny Family in Viridian city for help. I don't know what entails but I am at a breaking point of the project and the deadline is approaching. I was hoping you could go and help the Jennys out. Also since Daisy is supposed to arrive at Viridian in the next couple of days you could pick her up. "

Lan "ok I'll leave early tomorrow morning"

Oak "I know you don't have to worry about Pokemon attacking you because of some reason but here are 3 Pokeballs just in case you need them. Also, this is my first version of the Pokedex which contains your basic info on pokemon that might help you out. Now I can get back to work Fufufu."

Lan " He really is becoming a mad scientist "

'Sigh well I will ask Delilah to keep an eye on him'
