Pokemon: The Wandering Guardian

Lan arrived at the lake. It was massive and one could not see the other side by simply standing on its shore. There was a very large stream flowing into the lake through a small waterfall. Along the shore of the lake, there was a vast clearing that separated the Lake from the forest treeline. If one looked hard enough someone would be able to see many Pidgy and Spearow in the trees along with many Caterpie and Ekans running through the high brush that was scattered along the base of the trees.

Once Lan was finished taking in the scenery Lan then made his way to the edge of a small cliff that jutted out over part of the lake. Underneath the cliff was a rugged beach that consisted of rocks that seemed to have eroded off of the cliff.

"This really is the perfect spot. I do not really know how this will go but I really need to meet the deadline. It is a nice enough day the Pokemon should be out and about."

Lan then preceded to have a whirlwind of thoughts.

"Aghh that I didn't think I would have to spend almost all my savings just to get some gear. It was a good thing I am quite thrifty in general.

Which reminds me Gary and Ash's journey is going to begin in about a week or so. Ha if I am spending this much money on my stuff what will that kid Gary do? He is more a spendthrift much more so than anybody else in his family. And that is saying something since Daisy always seems to buy things and the Professor is definitely willing to spend when it comes to his Research. He seems to like all those expensive brands and such. I am going to laugh at him when he w.h.i.n.es about not having any money.

Gahh I am going to miss the Lab it was so nice to have access to research equipment and food. "

" Ahh, enough of these thoughts GROWLITHE come on out stop sleeping!"

Lan then threw out his Pokeball and caught the ball when it bounced back. Growlithe materialized in his previous sleeping position

It lifted its head and opened one of its eyes looking at his new environment. Then it put its head back down.

Lan just sighed and said to Growlithe "YOU... Okay, you can sleep for now but you are going to have to battle soon once I catch a pokemon with the fishing rod.

Lan just heard Growlithe snoring in response and laughed "This is what you get for eating so much. That food was supposed to last the two of us TWO WHOLE meals."

Lan just preceded to sighed again and decided to ignore him and guessed that he would wake him up if he needed him.

Lan then looked at the sky and approximated that it was early afternoon. He rummaged through his backpack and took out the pieces of the fishing rod along with some berries and some of the bait that he had picked up for cheap at the morning market.

Lan then put together the fishing rod and baited it with cheap bait. He then set his backpack in the middle of the cliff where Growlithe was sleeping. He then walked to the edge of the cliff and cast the fishing rod and the bobber landed a good distance in front of him. The bobber created small ripples in the placid lake.

Lan then sat down and took off his shoes then moved closer to the edge and then dangled his legs off of the cliff. He then preceded to wait ...

...

About 30 minutes later Lan was still intensely concentrating on the bobber. He didn't know what to think since this was his first time fishing. He had read many books and it said fishing was sometimes a tedious process and was ultimately a matter of luck.

Minutes later the bobber started to move slowly away from its original spot then it went underwater. Lan immediately yanked his rod and started to reel his catch in.

Plop

When Lan finally reeled in his catch he was disappointed.

"SHOOT, Son of a MUK" He looked angrily at his line. Something had stolen his bait.

Lan sighed and released his tension in his shoulders. He then scoffed at himself since he actually thought that he could catch something on the first try.

He then preceded to rebait his hook and cast it again

After another hour he reeled it in and the bait was stolen.

Lan then looked up at the sky and muttered "This is really going to be a long day"

Growlithe seemed to wake up at Lans muttering and walked towards him and preceded to lay down next to him.

Lan then scratched his back and sighed. "Well, we can't give up now right buddy?"

"Awoo" Grwolithe barked in agreement

Just like that Lan preceded to spend the rest of the day fishing.

Plop!!!

Plop !!!!

He seemed to get calmer and calmer with every failed attempt. Growlithe seemed to worry about his master and tried to explore the beach below to see if he could find a Pokemon for his master.

Growlithe did not like the water that much, but he could somehow sense the importance of this from his master and he wanted to help the most that he could.

Lan then proceeded to lay down after another failure and looked at the sky. He was actually not getting angry anymore if anything he became more relaxed as time went on. Finally, he said "Hey it is getting late now maybe we should take a break"

He then whistled and within moments Growlithe came in front of him. In his mouth, he had some soaked plants. Lan laughed " Growlithe did you find something" while sticking out his hand and rubbing the Pokemon's head.

He then proceeded to wipe off the plant. He could see the purple veins on it that spread out the whole plant.

He was startled "Isn't this Delicane?" He knew that this was and had just unconsciously asked his question.

Good job boy! This is awesome! It is somewhat rare because a lot of Pokemon seem to eat it since it is very sweet.

Growlithe proceeded to puff out its little c.h.e.s.t seemingly proud of its achievement. Lan laughed at his Pokemons actions. Lan then preceded to plan something out. He then said " Growlithe go grab sticks to make a fire. I will grab some stones so we can make it also." The pokemon immediately preceded to run to the edge of the forest to complete his task.

Lan smirked and started to go gather some rocks from below the cliff.

After a while, the dynamic duo regrouped and started to build the fire. It was getting hard to see for both of them but once the fire was lit they could see well. They had collected a lot of wood because they knew it was going to be a long night.

Lan then preceded to make another one of his meals with the seeds but this time he added some ground Delicane and used a different berry. Once the food was done cooking by the fire he picked it up and let it cool. He then opened the herb's skin and grabbed two or three of them.

He then plopped one in his mouth. It was sweet then it seemed to transition to bringing a little heat.

Growlithe proceeded to sniff and paw at the concoction. He then ate one and then he proceeded to taste it. Suddenly Lan could swear that Growlithe had stars in his eyes. The Pokemon then quickly gobbled up a couple more and laid down with a content expression.

"HaHa" Lan couldn't help but laugh. " When was the last time I saw eyes like that? "

Lan thought for a moment. He remembered now, it was when he first made some curry for Daisy and Gary.

"Wait a minute" Lan stood still a chill and a breeze blew past him and he felt a chill crawl up his spine.

" Magi - Crap I forgot about Daisy!"
