Pokemon: The Wandering Guardian

"OOF" " That could of been worse if I didn't land on my bag"

I look up and there is a fairly large man with wavy brown hair and a scruffy beard dressed in a white coat.. He had an extremely large bag almost as big as me on his back.

He suddenly looked up and met my eyes. Blinking a couple of times trying to decide what to say.

"Hello" he said while rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.

I nod not wanting to talk to the strange person. 'I know that it is awkward but I didn't want to talk much as I firmly believe talking too much can lead to trouble. Also I want to observe the situation and see his intentions. If it is hostile then I am going to grab Mudkip and get out of here'

With both of us still staring at each other it creates another awkward atmosphere.

Suddenly a stream of water hits the man in the face soaking him from head to toe.

???:

Lan thinking 'He can laugh after that?'

Still keeping his attention on me he asks me: "Do you live around here?"

I nod still not speaking

???: "Do you have a name ? "

I stare blankly and ask myself 'do I have a name?' 'Why cant I remember ' 'ughh' 'this sucks' and turn back to him and shake my head.

The man raises his eyebrow questioningly "Well what can I call you?"

I shrug my shoulder as if i don't care but internally 'PLEASE nothing Crazy'

He smiles and nods saying okay well let me call you .... Lan.

"..."

"..."

I nod in confirmation while thinking 'At least he isn't terrible at giving names'.

???: "Okay Lan well my name is Professor Birch. I am a Pokemon researcher that travels to places and finds new Pokemon or study the various Pokemon habitats and learn all I can about it."

My eyes widen because I know that goes in line with my overall goal to go exploring and learning new things.

Birch turns his attention to the tiny Mudkip and asks "Who do we have here ?"

"Mudkip!!!"

Birch smiles and then turns to me asks "Is Mudkip your Pokemon?"

I shake my head 'no' while Mudkip nods 'yes'.

Looking at the duo Birch can only shake his head and smile.

[ 3rd Person POV ]

A couple of hours later everyone was back at the stream .

Birch was currently watching an amazing sight. Lan was playing with the younger Pokemon while large amount of older Pokemon were not caring about him but instead they were showing apprehension towards himself.

A while later after the introductions to the Pokemon were done by Lan, Birch almost cried because he was blasted with a couple more water guns by the baby Pokemon. Further soaking his recently dried clothes.

Lan thought 'This must be an initiation process'

Birch suddenly was in thought and hesitantly asked: "Lan do you want to help me with my research and follow me back to my lab and living there "

Lan thought about it for a while then looking around at all the Pokemon and his tree that he claimed as his sleeping spot. Lan nodded in confirmation and smiled. Lan thought 'If I ever want to leave this is the best opportunity.'

Professor Birch walked over to Lan and held out a bag that he had. It was filled with Pokemon food. Lan seemed to know his intentions and turned around and started to say my goodbyes to everyone and giving them all some of the food.

Everyone seemed to accepted it except the Mudkip. It came over to Lan and through mud at me with its tail. It strutted past me and over to Professor Birch sitting down next to him and looking at me with a smug look.

Lan sighed and Professor Birch laughed again

Lan thought 'So much attitude in such a small Pokemon'
