Princess Lyn: Fleeting Dreams

She finally made her father happy. Although he didn't treat her badly, there was a distance. But after that day he spent more time with her and helped train her. She made her father happy. But that day was the first day her mother hit her.

After her father put her down the Queen slapped her father and then did the same with her. Since she was a child the impact of that slap lead to her falling backwards.

Why? Why did mother hit her?

'I saved father. If I didn't do that then I am sure that man would have done something else to father.'

Nobody was doing anything so of course she had to. Should she have left father on the ground like that? He did get up afterwards but at the time she had no clue what his abilities were. It seemed mother already knew so she probably wasn't worried but how could she have known?

As a young girl seeing the sight of her father in a pool of blood, seeing him being stabbed was too much for her. 

There were many important officials in that event, while the Queen put a restraining order on the events that happened that day. She could only control the nobles, it didn't stop the servants present from spreading it. 

No, mother could have stopped that too but she didn't. Her mother wanted people to know how ruthless father and her were. She wanted others to see them as monsters and it worked.

During her debut into elite society, nobody approached her, nobody talked to her. It was the worse day ever. But she swore after that humiliation that she would turn the situation around and she did. To the point where mother had no choice but to appear to be on friendly terms with her in front of the public.

"Father." Lethia called out.

At those words the man turned to her. "Oh it's you."

"Your alive."

Even though she saw it with her own eyes back when she was a child. The destruction of the magic tower wasn't simple. If a tower with so much magic collapses, there is no chance of survival due to the amount of magic. 

"Brat, are you trying to kill me of already-" Her father paused and stared at her with wide eyes. Lethia noticed him staring at her clothing and the crown on her head. "Why are you dressed like this?"

"Because I am the Queen."

It was a mistake of her to say those words. Or maybe she should have explained the situation first. Lethia couldn't forget the look on her father's face after she said those words. A murderous gaze flashed through his eyes and in the next second his hands shot out and grabbed her neck. 

"What did you do to Orthez?"

His sudden yell startled her. It was like the roar of a beast. Lethia felt the temperature drop. If he shouts that loudly the guards would come. At the very least that is what would normally happen in novels. But even with her father yelling so loudly and emitting dark magic she could not hear a single sound approach.

Why would anybody come? She is only a Queen in name. While there were many people who curried favour with her while she was a Princess. Those people immediately turned bitter when she actually became the Queen. 

Lethia didn't understand their sudden shift in attitude. This entire time they have supported her to become the Queen, why are they suddenly acting like that? .

It did not take her long to figure out why. They switched sides, Andrew did something. She didn't know what he did for them to switch over in a short amount of time, but they no longer treated her the same way. 

No guards have come, even in this situation. She is indeed only a figurehead.

This was the first time she has seen her father's rage at least towards her. Sure in the past he got mad at her but that was only when she did something incompetent. But right now this rage was because he thinks she hurt the previous Queen.

This guy is mad, I thought I knew that already. I thought I knew how obsessed he was with Queen Orthez.'

But this? She didn't expect it at all.

"Are you going to speak? If you killed your mother, if you harmed her I won'rt show you any mercy. I thought I told you already. That woman is mine, she is my possession. I already allow you lot to look at her but to touch her? To harm her? Those are things only I can do."

Each word that escaped the man's lips seemed crazier than the rest. This guy is insane. She thought she knew already, but just knowing wasn't enough. He is truly serious, he would kill her if she harmed the Queen.

A part of her probably understood that a long time ago. So although she felt bitter, she could never harm her mother otherwise this man would go insane. 

A lunatic obsessed with a woman who looks at him with disgust. 

That is the best sentence to describe her father.

'If I didn't know why he went insane I would have just ȧssumed he was a psycho.'

But she knew her father's story very well.

"I didn't do anything to her." Lethia managed to find the strength to speak. Her entire body was still trembling but she continued. "The tower blew up and you were the last one with her."

"What?"

It seemed those words did the trick since he loosened his grip on her neck.

"The Queen- mother came to see you in the tower. Did she do something?"

As she said those words she watched as his expression slowly changed. It seemed like he was thinking about her words, after awhile he loosened his grip and let her go. She panted and gasped for air as she remained kneeled on the ground. 

'I can't believe him, isn't he supposed to be my father? He is insane.'

But Lethia knew better than to do anything to him. No matter how power hungry and selfish she was, this is the one person she cannot take down. He is her father but he is the one person she fears the most in this world.

If she didn't know what he was capable of perhaps she would have been fooled. Her father is a commoner but he is quite the good looking man. Those outside the palace, the commoners didn't understand why Queen Orthez treated him badly.

They all thought it was because of his lineage.. At one point she also thought that but that wasn't the case at all. Why would any normal woman fall in love with such a tyrant?
