Project Overworld

Chapter 90 - Ambitious plans

- "No Tyler, this one should be going around here." Keith pointed at the side of the launcher they were working on. It has been two weeks since they started organizing as binomes, and he was quite satisfied about everyone's work up until now.

Having five people working onto the same machine was not that efficient, after all. Their new organization method was much more adequate for the number of players present within Spacol's ranks.

Keith did notice a few problems by the start of it, especially concerning the lack of communication within the various binomes. Though, they all quickly got used to it and started developing team synergies. For the first week, when Keith got to work with Jim, he also made sure the young man would be communicating a lot and even tried joking with him a few times to clear the air.

He was surprisingly open minded and even replied with a few jokes on his own. However, when he observed the other binomes from time to time, he did realize that Jim was not talking that much with anyone else. As a matter of fact, everyone's conversations revolved around work more than anything.

The only other person who could bring out interesting conversations with the others was Michael. He has only teamed up with Tyler and Xena up until now, but they certainly did joke around and do funny things while they were together.

'I hope everyone's gonna relax around the others in the future. They need to get along well to work better as a team.' Keith meditated. Even Leyla was not having any interesting conversations the members she has teamed up with up until now.

She did get teamed up with Xena at one point, but regardless of the fact that the latter was convivial and had a lot of common points by being a girl too, all they did was talking about work all day. Maybe they did exchange a bit of personnal informations, but nothing he has been aware of.

'Should I take Michael as an exemple? Should I organize some funny events like he did with the remote controlled cars?' Keith considered. 'I fear that they might take it too seriously if I'm the one doing it, though.' Keith realized.

He has been in a dilema since he found out he needed to do something to bring them all together. He could not quite imagine what he could be doing for that particular purpose.

'Well, maybe we should try and do something with Michael next week since we'll be affected together.' Keith concluded.

By the end of the week he spent with Tyler, the both of them managed to design another module and also started working on the 'Space Station Launcher 18'. He was really satisfied with the pace things were actually going. He should be able to go back into space in a month at most, and bring a lot more materials with him this time around.

When it was time for him to disconnect, Keith also sent a message to his close friend Michael on his phone so they could talking about events they could be organizing without the others knowing about it.

- "Hey Michael." He said in his message. "You know, next week we're going to spend all our time within Project Overworld together and I wanted to take the opportunity to do something else."

- "Woah, hey!" Michael replied. "We've known each other for so long now but I didn't think you would confess to me like that!"

Keith simply sent a facepalm emoticon before explaining his thoughts to his friend.

- "Oh I see... If you're gonna run another one of those RC car races, I'm in!"

- "That's the point, I don't know what we should be doing exactly. The goal is to have everyone get to know each other, while not taking this sort of competition too seriously."

- "Well, did you see what I brought into the previous race? I don't think one could ever take that too seriously."

- "Sure thing." He sent alongside a laughing emoticon. "However if I'm the one doing it, wouldn't they be giving their heart and soul into it?"

- "It's possible... especially for Leyla." Michael replied to his friend. "But we just have to find a funny idea to go alongside it.

- "Funny idea?"

In the end, it took another couple of minutes for the both of them to think of a project they could be working towards to motivate everyone. It was already one in the morning when Keith realized he was getting really tired, although satisfied about being able to plan things out with Michael.

_______________

When Amber has been confronted to these two terrorist groups in the past, she thought about their reasons for a while. Why would people try and destroy everyone's progress within the game? Well, some might be having fun doing that, after all it's just a game and people may be doing waht they really want.

However, there was something specific rassembling all these people together. The first group was called 'Rebelion' for a reason. The fact was, how things were currently developing within the game did not correspond to everyone playing it. Sure, they could be playing other games if this one did not suit them, but none ever achieved the level of freedom that Project Overworld gives off to its players.

After talking to their leader for a while, Amber realized that there were players still interested in the medieval fights that had happened during the first months of the server being launched. The problem was, the company Advanced Simulation had not planned to open any other servers in the next few years. The current one was entirely sufficient for their needs and it was not even full yet.

Though, as long as people's expectations were not fulfilled, it was only a matter of time before other groups of criminals started appearing. They could even install themselves within the cities so not to fear the repercussions of their deeds because Keith would not dare to attack a city just to kill a few players.

Thus, Amber had thought of a solution. Yggdrasil was still largely unoccupied and she decided that she would be reproducing the type of environments people really wanted within this continent. Of course, everything would be monitored from up close so there would be no problems appearing anywhere else.

First things first, her plan was to build a giant city whose sole purpose would be entertainment. This city already had a name, 'Asgard', but was still in its infancy in terms of planning.

Afterwards, Amber and the municipal team would also be delimiting a large zone where players could be starting all over again and fighting against each other at will. This whole project was called 'Project Vanilla' by everyone in the secrecy of it, and was supposed to take place in several months from now, nay years. Actually, the municipal team would first be focusing on the Asgard city before working any other complex project.

'With these two projects, everyone should be satisfied for a while.' Amber thought. Although she just got rid of the matters concerning other cities by assigning other teams to it, she was already focusing onto another large-scale project. In the meantime, she would still be organizing Inventopias so interesting inventions may still be discovered by the large public.

'Let's hope everything goes according to plan.' She concluded.

- "Hey!" Michael exclaimed upon seeing his friend Keith. "Did you think about what we talked yesterday?"

- "Yep, I've decided to organize something a bit more 'grand' than what we initially imagined. You know, RC cars are pretty limited and the only fun thing about it is to cross the finish line."

- "Oh oh! You've got the idea of build a karting track didn't you?"

- "Sure thing. It may also be used more in the future so people may relax there from time to time."

- "That's a good idea. But what about the funny part?"

- "Well, you see... I've not revealed the final reward yet. In any case, since everyone while be doted of the same kart there should be less competition than last time you did that race."

- "Oh, you're really teasing me right now... Regardless, where did you plan we start building it?"

- "Outside, of course. It's supposed to be a surprise after all."

With that being said, the both of them spend their entire week designing the perfect track so the other members may have an enjoyable time doing it. The initial goal was to have an amusing track, not necessarly competitive. As such, Keith and Michael installed obstacles activated by random timings across the whole path. They also made the karting track pass through muddy water and other ridiculous environments.

Of course, this project would only be one of many. Keith's end goal was to get everyone to be friends in real life, so they could trust each other out. He himself was already convinced about everyone's personality in his team, as such he knew that they would be no problem in that regard. For now, he could not really organize real-life events but this race should be a really enjoyable time nonetheless.

- "Alright, let's break the news to the others!" Keith exclaimed to his friend's attention.
