Queen Of Adis

Chapter 10 - The Departure

Two days had passed and the day to leave for the spring banquet came. Due to the ambush that happened the other day, security throughout Umbra was heightened and she was not allowed to leave Adis' side even for a minute. The Royal Grim Reapers, led by Fang, was still swiping the entire dark realm for the mastermind of the attack.

Haru and her two servants were busy preparing for the departure inside the royal chamber. Hannah was assisting her with her hair and makeup, while Millie was packing her clothes and accessories.

After the spring banquet, the royal couple would stay in Lumine for three more days for the Spring Festival. Afterward, they would need to stay in Atlantis for five days due to diplomatic purposes. Well, it was all Adis' duty as King, but after the ambush, he became even more overprotective than he already was.

Adis even added a new decree on their 'Adis❤Haru Secret Book.' It was stated in Rule 30, Section 3: In the case of inter-realm diplomatic duty, Haru must accompany Adis all throughout the journey to keep Adis from being lonely.

Oh, and yes, they had a secret book. And if someone found out about it, the stoic Ignis brothers would definitely cry from shame.

"I heard that the reapers already found a new lead regarding the incident yesterday. Oh, sir Fang is really amazing!" Millie started her report to Haru while enthusiastically praising Fang like a lovesick girl. "After an overnight of excruciating torture from the King and sir Fang, the remaining assassin finally spilled the bean. Too bad his body disintegrated before dawn, hence, the King couldn't torture him even further--"

"Millie!" Hannah immediately called out the maid's name to shut her up. "If His Majesty finds out that you are scaring the Queen again, you will be placed in the punishment chamber."

Millie gasped loudly and covered her mouth upon realizing her tactlessness. She immediately knelt in front of Haru and gripped the hem of her snow-white dress. "My Queen, please forgive this servant's impertinence. You know how much I care about Your Majesty. Please don't let the King punish me!"

"Hmph! Now you know how to act modestly?" Hannah scoffed and added, "If I may, Your Majesty, please let her experience Gehenna. You spoiled her too much."

It was true that Haru was spoiling her two maids. As a matter of fact, her maids were as popular as the Ignis brothers in the three realms. Everyone knew that the Queen treated them as sisters rather than as servants.

"Waahh!" Millie cried out and hugged her knees tightly. "My Queen, Hanna is bullying me! If you really throw me to Gehenna, you'll definitely miss this servant's blabbermouth."

Gehenna was the infamous hellish dungeon in Umbra. It's the final destination of the most bloodthirsty criminal in the entire dark realm. No one came out alive from that place and it's also one of the King's favorite playgrounds.

"Fufu! So now you admit that you're a blabbermouth?" Haru snickered and joined Hannah on teasing Millie.

When Millie realized that they were just messing around, she pounced Hannah playfully and bit her ears. Haru and Hannah just laughed out loud by her childish act.

Their merriment was interrupted by the soft knock on the door. An Imperial Knight came in and respectfully greeted Haru, then added, "The King would like to inform Your Majesty that everything is already prepared for your departure to the realm of light. The King will await Your Majesty at the Dark Tower. I shall accompany you, together with the other Imperial Knights, on your way there."

"Wow, aren't you all overreacting? This entourage is just so..." Haru couldn't even find the right words to say at the moment.

The Dark Tower was still inside of the Dark Palace and located right in front of a small river. It was at least less than a 10-minute walk from her current location. But the twenty Imperial Knights that were escorting her at the moment was as though they were going to war than just a walk inside the palace -- fully armored with eyes on high alert and hands on their swords.

She sighed helplessly and began to walk towards their destination. There's nothing she could do at the moment, after all, the mastermind behind the ambush was yet to be apprehended.

After a short while, she could finally see the Dark Tower from a distance. Aa she continued walking, her eyes grew wide and she gasped unconsciously when she saw a picturesque scene up ahead; a handsome gentleman with silky black hair and beautiful demon eyes was standing gracefully while petting the head of a colossal silver dragon. With the intricate pattern of the dark tower and a peaceful sunset as a background, it was a sight that would forever be etched in anyone's heart.

When Adis felt her presence, he stopped petting the silver dragon and shifted his entire attention to her. His expression softened upon seeing his lovely wife. As always, she was wearing an elegant white and gold dress, just like what he always wanted. She looked like a beautiful bride. His one and only bride.

"You look so beautiful that you just took my breath away," Adis whispered softly.

"My, my! Such sugary words from a gorgeous man are definitely exhilarating." Haru complimented and snickered, hiding the beautiful blush on her smooth cheeks.

Adis cupped her cheeks softly and kiss her on the forehead. The act was so sweet that she felt like her knees would buckle.

How could this man be so handsome and perfect at the same time? She couldn't help but fall in love all over again.

When his kiss touched her lips, he sighed helplessly and said, "How could you be so beautiful and perfect at the same time? Don't blame me for falling for you even more."

Haru let out a heartily laugh while the devil scowled.

"Are you making fun of this King?" Adis sulked.

"Pfft! Well, I just thought that it was weird since I also felt the same for you?"

Adis' gentle expression came back and even showed her his captivating rare smile. He leaned forward to taste her addictive lips again while Haru closed her eyes, awaiting the sweet reward.

"Ahem!"

The idiot couple abruptly stopped before their lips touched. Adis' eyebrow twitched when Haru jolted and awkwardly attempted to free herself from his embrace. He held her still as he glared at the impertinent aide, Fang.

"Your Majesties, please forgive this servant's discourteousness, but it is time to leave as you are already late," Fang said courageously

"Tsk! Why ask for forgiveness if you don't look sorry at all?" Adis looked irked. "Let them wait!"

Fang bowed deeply with his hands on his side and bravely disagreed. "With all due respect, You Majesty, but please allow this servant to remind you again of our initial plan. The King of Umbra will make a good impression in tonight's banquet to prove to the church ministers and nobles that His Majesty is worthy of the Queen's affection. Is that not the case, my King?"

"Really? You'll do that for me?" Haru's eyes sparkled upon hearing their plan?

Adis cleared his throat awkwardly. Though his face remained calm, she could see a tinge of red on his ear and she felt the erratic beating of his heart.

"I thought... it would make you happy if everyone would approve our relationship." He softly whispered.

Haru's heart melted instantly. "Aww, you are so cute!" She exclaimed and showered his cheeks with small kisses. She then added sweetly, "Of course, it would definitely make me happy, however, at this point, whether they accept us or not... it doesn't really matter anymore."

Adis' eyes brightened and a relief expression could be seen on his face. He leaned forward to finally claim his beloved's lips but was interrupted again, this time by his own target.

Haru gently placed her index finger on his lips to stop him from his plan. The corner of her mouth curved upward and her eyes glinted mischievously as she stated. "But that doesn't mean that I won't be thrilled to see you trying, my silly husband. I'd like to see if you can last throughout the entire night without flipping out."

Adis' eyes narrowed at his wife's blatant challenge. "And if I can, what would you do?" He softly taunted.

"Anything," she drawled.

All of a sudden, his eyes darkened as he gave her a slow evil smirk, as though he caught her in her own trap. A look of dangerous predator to his meek prey.

Adis abruptly grasped her hand and unceremoniously gave her a long, hard and wet kiss on the lips. When she was about to suffocate from the lack of oxygen, he finally released her and uttered, "Deal!"

It was too late before she realized that she was in trouble and she had no way of escaping it.
