Queen Of Adis

Chapter 19 - Weak or Strong

"Adis, my boy, I miss you! hahaha!" Triton approached the edge of the lake. His fishtail turned into a man's feet as he touched the ground and moved towards Adis.

Triton ruffled Adis' hair which made the crowd around them gasped and trembled in anxiety. No one could do that to the King of Umbra except the Queen. However, very few people knew the importance of the retired General to Adis and to his two younger siblings. Furthermore, Adis looked up to him and respected him like his real father, so any royal etiquette was not applicable between them.

To everyone's surprise, the King of Umbra even made a barely noticeable smile upon getting Triton's attention.

"Please visit the Dark Palace sometimes. Haru misses you always," Adis softly requested.

"And Adis, too!" Haru added in, then hugged Adis' arm tightly.

The crowd gave another series of loud gasps. Did the King just said 'please?' Also, did the King just invited someone to the Dark Palace? The place where the King strictly prohibited any entry from anyone, even to his own siblings? No way! That's... improbable!

"Sure! This old man is getting bored playing with Aquarius. I'll make sure to drop by anytime soon."

"Old man, what are you doing here? Ah, don't tell me you're here for the Oracle Declaration Ceremony tomorrow? But, didn't you hate this kind of event? You did not even attend my coronation even when I begged you," Haru rattled on.

"Well, I was asked to--"

"The Queen has arrived, woohoo!"

Their happy reunion was interrupted by the sudden squeal from a child. Haru and her company shifted their attention to the owner of the voice and her smile widened upon the sight of the children from the orphanage.

"Annie, everyone, you're here!" Haru giggled and ran towards the kids. She busied herself with playing and chatting with the kids that she totally forgot the two men she left behind.

"So, how are you these days? Aquarius and Zen told me about her vision," Triton started in a serious voice. He took advantage of the situation while Haru was occupied by the kids to talk to Adis. "You don't have to eliminate those bastards yourself. I can do it for you. You can just lie to Haru that they were attacked by criminals."

Adis shook his head gently. "Haru may look gullible, but she's really smart and cunning. She would make you comfortable so you'd put your guard down, but she has eyes and ears in many places and made loyal connections. She would definitely find out the truth if we kill many Great Elders and nobles rampantly. Besides, I may have kept a lot of secrets just to protect her, but I will never lie to her." He carefully explained as he quipped, "Old man, this great King has become weak since I fell in love."

He was watching Haru from a distance, imprinting her every move and smile in his heart.

Triton sneered, "Idiot! Amongst my three sons, you are the strongest. You just fell in love, period. Nothing much has changed since then. You're still a stone-cold, arrogant and ruthless brat. For immortals like us, one year is a fleeting moment."

"And yet, I feel like I have known her for a very long time," he whispered.

"That's natural, she's your fated mate, after all."

Adis' expression softened when he saw Haru carried a child in her arms. "All I wanted... was to make her happy. But why is it that the more I step forward to reach that dream, it becomes farther and farther away? Despite having endless riches, the price of loving someone is f.u.c.k.i.n.g unreasonable." He emotionally exclaimed, totally pissed off that those annoying pests won't let them live in peace.

Triton unceremoniously slapped Adis' back to wake him up from his gloomy stupor. "Where the hell is this gloominess coming from? If you can't even make your wife happy, then surrender the f.u.c.k.i.n.g throne to those worthless bastards already. After just a year of hardship, you're already giving up?"

"Hell no! They can have the throne but I will not give up on Haru. The world may perish tomorrow, but she is the only one I will never let go of."

"That's my boy! Hahaha," Triton was satisfied to see Adis' resolute disposition.

"Love is never easy, but never let go of her hand. Don't let the mistakes of the past repeat itself." He stated in a sentimental way.

Adis chuckled. "You're right, nothing much has changed. She's still that brazen yet charming girl from a year ago. A real royal pain in the a.s.s, if I may say so. But I wouldn't change anything about her. Tsk, I guess it's true..." He trailed off and looked up at the sky while grinning."...I am totally whipped."

Triton barked his laughter while his hands on his h.i.p.s. "It's also your fault. You have spoiled her too much. Anyway, what's your plan with those weaklings?"

Adis heaved a sigh and narrowed his eyes. "Zen and Aquarius will take care of them tomorrow. Even if I spoiled my wife to a fault, I still want her to witness the true colors of the humans she always wanted to protect. I forgave those pests and became lenient because I know that the more I pretend that everything is okay, the more those weaklings will show their selfish and evil nature. It's just a matter of time before Haru realizes that. When the time comes that she decided to kill them all, I will be silently watching by her side then welcome her with open arms."

Triton shook his head and commented, "I told you, nothing's changed. You are still a sick bastard."

******************************

The day of the Spring Festival and the Oracle Declaration Ceremony finally arrived. Citizens from different realms came to personally witness the rumored beauty of the oracle-to-be. Moreover, they would like to see the great Kings and the famous couple, King Adis and Queen Haru.

The atmosphere at the Central Plaza was really festive; different items and food were being sold by different merchants at the sidewalk, entertainers could be seen showcasing their talents in front of the cheering crowd, flowers are blooming and being scattered everywhere while children were playing with it.

In the middle of the Central Plaza, near the cherub fountain, an enormous stage was prepared and some of the honorable guests and Elders were already seated. The ceremony was about to start but the three great Kings and the spring maiden were still not in sight. Both human and non-human beings we're buzzing and starting to get impatient.

"I knew that the Royal Family is not okay with this ceremony for the new oracle. There's no way they would allow a lowly commoner to be married into the Dark Palace."

"That's right! As a citizen of Umbra, I don't want any other Queen but Queen Haru. She's a blessing to us all."

"Well, the Royal Family doesn't have any choice. It's a tradition in Trium Regum. Unless they would claim that the new holy maiden is fake."

As if on cue, a majestic golden carriage suddenly appeared from the sky and being drawn by three white huge winged-horses. The carriage stopped at the end of the red carpet which was prepared for all the famous and honorable guests in today's event. King Zen and King Aquarius simultaneously went down the carriage and wave to the citizens with their diplomatic smiles.

The crowd, especially women, went crazy and screamed each King's name.

"Ahh! King Zen, please look this way. I love you, please have s.e.x with me next."

"Woah, King Aquarius, you are so gorgeous! Ahh, Please marry me!"

The screams and shouts seemed to be endless. The crowd had totally forgotten about the oracle ceremony and just wanted to get closer to their beloved Kings.

When the King with devilish beauty came out of the carriage, the crowd suddenly went silent and the wind became freezing cold.

The King of Umbra had finally made an appearance and the citizens seemed to forget how to breathe at the sight of his cold yet noble aura. King Adis turned around and offered his hand to the etherial beauty inside -- his one true love.

It was as though the citizens completely forgot their fear to Adis, the crowd became wilder and some even tried to approach the red carpet at the sight of their venerated spring maiden. Everyone cried out her name and threw flowers and plushies just to get her attention, however, the security around the Royal Family was impenetrable.

Haru gave the crowd her captivating smile and wave elegantly while Adis ushered her towards the stage. The Great Elders, clergymen, nobles and Helèna bowed to greet them.

Damien cleared his throat and faced the crowd to start the ceremony. "Dear citizens of Trium Regum, today we are gathered here to witness the sanctity of another special maiden that will bless the land to prosperity..."

Zen yawned loudly and even rudely stretched his body from his royal seat. He leaned to his side and whispered to Haru. "This is too boring, sister-in-law. Like always, Damien will surely take a while to finish his speech--"

"And so, let us all begin the declaration of our new oracle. May I call upon the fair maiden, Helèna to receive this new title," Damien announced.

"Eh? Seems like they are in a hurry to finish the ceremony and seal the new title," Aquarius deduced.

"That's fine. The sooner we can get this done the better," Adis responded indifferently while playing with his wife's small fingers.

Haru tilted her head and looked curious as she spoke, "Helèna looks like she was in pain. Look at her complexion, it's so pale and I caught her wincing a while ago. I wonder if she's okay?"

The three Kings shook their heads in disgust. Haru may not know since she's a human, but to the highest beings with s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e senses like them, they could tell what's wrong with her. Helèna may look presentable, but they could smell the strong stench of different male species from her, and it was sickening. It was obvious that she played around up to the last minute, to the point that she was broken and didn't even clean herself up.

Zen rudely covered his mouth and nose while Aquarius gracefully used his azure fan to discreetly cover his nose as well. Adis took advantage of Haru's sweet and fragrant scent by pulling her up and made her sit on his l.a.p. He then buried his face in her hair and inhaled her scent.

"What are you doing Adis? Not in front of the citizens, you idiot!" She seethed, totally oblivious of the three Kings' sick expressions.

"It stinks," Adis grumbled like a child.

"What? You mean I stink?" She looked perplexed, then sniffed her wrist and collar. "No way, I took a bath this morning."

"Hey, big brother, are you just shielding yourself from the stench of that woman or you're trying to make us eat dog food?" Zen asked sarcastically. "Tsk, idiot couple!"

Damien suddenly interrupted their chatter with his loud statement. "And now the time has come for our great Kings to award the new oracle--"

"Forget it, she's nothing but a fake," Adis interrupted Damien's another bout of nonsense. "This great King will never accept her as an oracle."
