Queen Of Adis

Chapter 22 - Darkest Hour

Meantime, the Central Plaza was still in chaos. Puddle of black goo from the dead slimes was scattered everywhere. The clashing of different magic arts shook the entire place.

Adis joined with his younger siblings to close the black hole with an indifferent expression on his face. Without a single word, he raised his palm. Black and gold sparkles could be seen around his body and his eyes turned in a darker shade of red. Dark demonic runes slowly appeared on his face and hands while his mouth was chanting summoning magic spell.

The golden and azure magic circles that surrounded the black hole were suddenly swallowed by dark magic circles.

As the sky darkened, a summoning magic circle, twice as big as the size of the black hole, appeared on the ground. All of a sudden, huge claws were slowly creeping out from it. The flesh around it was black and red as if it was scorched multiple times and now it's rotting. Then, the face came out. It was a hideous and malevolent monster, and its size was colossal. Bandages were falling apart from its burnt and corroding head and massive chains were wrapped around its entire being. The mouth was gaped opened, exposing its dark and yellowish deadly fangs. The tongue was cut off and the root was oozing with black goo. Its body was swimming in lava and angry flames were popping out from the hole. It howled agonizingly as though it was suffering from hellish torture for eternity. Anyone could hear and see it would definitely have a nightmare for a year.

The warriors around were stupefied. They all had one thing in mind. 'So, this was the true face of hell and the King of Umbra was the only one that could control it.'

"*Abaddon, hear your King's command and bring these abominations with you in hell," Adis commanded.

The monster howled loudly again, shattering all the windows around the Plaza into pieces. It was devouring the black hole bit by bit and s.u.c.k.i.n.g the dark slimes around it. Once done, Abaddon extended its gigantic claws up to reach Adis. As it neared the King, its body slowly disintegrated. The bone-chilling shriek it made echoed throughout the place as the wind also swept its ashes away.

As the clouds started to lighten up and the atmosphere was slowly calming down, Aquarius heaved a deep sigh of relief. The black hole and hundreds of its spawns had finally disappeared. The remaining black slimes could easily be taken care of by the soldiers and General Graves.

Zen winced and trembled as he glanced towards Adis. "Big brother, I can never get used to your familiars. They are the very definition of hell. You just called one of them, but look at the destruction it caused. I wonder what would happen if you call them out at once. No, I don't even want to think about it." He shook his head to eliminate the scary thought.

"But, sister-in-law love them all. She would even go to the deepest and darkest part of Umbra just to play with them. In return, they all adore her. Aside from big brother, they would only listen to Haru." Aquarius reminded his younger brother.

Zen stomped his feet and patted the back of his winged horse harshly. "Sister-in-law has a weird taste. She always likes those ghostly and horrifying things. That's why she married big--." He immediately stopped himself upon remembering the devil himself was just right beside him. He stiffly looked sideways and saw that Adis was staring intently, daring him to continue with his nonsense. "Haha, you are really the best big brother. You were able to defeat those dark spawns and even closed the black hole easily. No wonder sister-in-law was completely enamored with you."

Aquarius shook his head helplessly at Zen's useless attempt to kiss their big brother's a.s.s.

"We must go to the Light Palace at once. Haru is waiting for us there." Adis announced and prepared to move his winged horse towards the direction of the palace, however, he saw Graves waiving at them from the ground.

General Graves immediately bowed in respect then spoke directly to the point. "Your Majesty, King Adis, Fang sent me a message through telepathy. He was requesting for you to proceed to the evacuation camp at once. It's an emergency."

Adis scowled the turned around, "I don't have time for that. I must see my Queen at once. Zen, why don't you go--"

"Your Majesty," Graves abruptly interrupted. He gulped before he continued, "It's... about the Queen."

He stiffened for a moment before he rigidly turned around. His eyes widened and his mouth trembled, totally lost for words.

Grave hurriedly reported the bad news. "On their way to the camp, Fang and the others found that the kids at the orphanage were massacred. Their body parts were scattered in different places around the lake."

The two other Kings simultaneously cursed under their breaths. Zen even punched the wall beside him and it instantly smashed into pieces.

The orphanage? So what's the connection of that place to his queen? Lake? Isn't that the place where they saw General Triton yesterday? But what of it?

General Triton? Old man?

Adis' body shook terribly as the realization sank in. He could already guess what Grave would say next, but he was in denial and stubbornly refused to hear the truth.

"I-I... need to go to the Palace. Haru... she's waiting for me." He murmured and staggered. His complexion was pale and he had a look of horror written all over his face.

Aquarius caught him and steadied his stance. "Big brother, get a hold if yourself. What's gotten into you? Do not worry about sister-in-law. Didn't you entrust her to General Triton? She'll be fine."

"Your Majesty," Graves resumed but his voice croaked and his body was trembling. "General Triton, he... General Triton was found at the lake near the orphanage. The scales on his fishtail were brutally scr.a.p.ed from his body and his bones were broken. He looked like he suffered inhumane torture. He was immediately rushed to the hospital but he's in a... critical situation."

Thud!

Zen's entire body loudly slumped on the ground. "Old man... that can't be," he whispered. Tears were uncontrollably falling from his eyes.

Aquarius was beyond shock. "If... General Triton was already in that state... then who?" He didn't know how to finish his question. He just looked at his big brother and he shivered at his demonic aura.

Just as everyone thought that everything was finally settling down, the real chaos came, and it was in the form of their Dark King. The sky suddenly darkened again, lightning strikes and tornadoes started to mercilessly wreak havoc on the land.

The gravity became unbearable, creating deep dents on the ground. Dark ghost emerged in different places in Lumine, shrieking and crying eerily. The infrastructure in Central Plaza couldn't take the deathly energy from Adis and slowly collapsed one by one, turning everything in sight in a big pile of rubble. The soil beneath his feet turned to ashes, the plants and flowers all wilted.

After witnessing hell earlier, Lumine had now reached its darkest hour. And this moment shall be remembered by the entire human realms and beyond.

"Calm down, big brother!" Aquarius shouted, trying to wake Adis up from his self-destruction. He knew what his big brother was feeling right now. "I know you are angry because you thought that you handed Haru to the enemy yourself, but this is not the time to be consumed by guilt and hatred. We must move fast before it's too late."

When Zen finally woke up from his stupor, he was horrified at the scene in front of him. The whole place was in shambles. He wanted to cry even further but he knew this was not the right time for it. He harshly wiped his tears away and joined Aquarius on waking his big brother up. "Big brother, neither the Divine Protection nor the Geyser of Life have been activated. That only means she's still safe. We still have a chance!"

When Adis heard Zen's opinion, the natural catastrophe and ghosts were slowly fading one after the other. Adis was panting heavily as he tried to calm his emotions. Aquarius was right, they must move quickly.

"Where is that woman and her accomplices?" Adis was still fuming in madness and he wanted to shred those nemeses into pieces, but he must endure until he could see his beloved again.

"My brother and the other royal aides are guarding them carefully at the evacuation camp."

Upon completing his report, Graves saw Adis' entire being enveloped in black flames. He instantly disappeared from their sight, leaving wisps of his horrifying dark mana in his place.

The other two Kings stood straight and followed through.

Adis and his two brothers appeared in front of an enormous evacuation camp. He kicked the door open and furiously moved towards the middle of the camp. The citizens inside were startled at their King's vicious aura. They instinctively squeezed their bodies backward, creating a huge space between the Kings and the crowd. The Valkyries feel also feel Adis' ominous vibe, hence, they stood in front of the elders to protect them.

Adis stood in the middle of the crown while seething. His eyes were murderous and his body was emitting dark frost. Only the three royal aides were brave enough to approach him and talk to him.

"Where the hell is that wretched woman?! Bring her to me, at once!" He snarled. His dark demonic runes were showing on his hands and neck again.

"Ahh, what are you doing? Let me go! I am the new oracle, you should show some respect." Helena screamed and struggled in the hands of two Grim Reapers.

"Helena! Let her go! What are you going to do to her?" Damien was also trying to free himself from the strong grip of the Reapers.

The Reapers tossed Helena harshly in front of Adis. Fang took an enormous but elegant chair from his space ring and placed it behind his King. Adis arrogantly sat on the chair as he began his interrogation.

"Where is my wife?" He asked dangerously.

The other two kings sat on their own seats prepared by their own aide. They intently watched the scene in front. Zen was already itching to hurt the woman to exact his revenge on behalf of his old man.

Helena loudly cried out. "I don't know, Your Majesty, I honestly don't know. Please have mercy."

A clergyman spoke, feeling indignant with the way they manhandled the oracle. "With all due respect, Your Majesty, but this is against the law-- Aahh!"

Without shifting his attention, Adis shot his black flames towards the impudent man, burning him alive.

"Don't teach this great King about the law. My Queen's words are the only law I know!" Adis vehemently exclaimed. "Listen, you feeble beings, every minute that you will not speak the truth, one person will die. Since you took my Queen away from me, I can go for a killing spree. Now, where is my wife?!"
