Queen Of Adis

Haru was currently eating her breakfast at the balcony while reading a book in her hand. She was entranced with the story that she did not notice a shadow quickly approaching her. With her eyes fixed on the book, she stabbed the slice of pancake with her fork and lifted it towards her mouth. As she opened her lips to eat her food, the playful shadow beat her to it and took it in his mouth.

When she turned to look at the devil, she smiled with her eyes and happily exclaimed, "Adis!"

Adis sat beside her and planted a sweet kiss on her cheek. Then, he gently tapped her nose with his finger. "Brat, are you wide awake now?

Haru giggled as she nodded and kissed him back on his cheek.

"Are you done eating your breakfast? You barely touched the food on your plate." He furrowed as he helped her slice the food in bite sizes.

When she opened her mouth to explain, Anais immediately stepped in. "Your Majesty, King Adis, please forgive this servant for speaking out of turn. Her Majesty felt nauseous when Fang and I brought her food. She said that she didn't like the smell and threw up, hence, we had to change the meal many times. Fortunately, her stomach accepted this simple pancake. However, due to its bland taste, the Queen is now forcing herself to eat it."

Upon hearing the report, Adis' lips trembled and his complexion paled. "Then, why did you not send someone to call for this King?" He didn't wait for their response as his hand immediately c.a.r.e.s.sed her cheek while the other stroked the back of her head. His eyes laced with worry. "My love, how are you feeling now? What would you like to eat? Adis will personally make it for you."

Haru massaged his forehead to remove the frown on it. "I'm okay. I'm still eating, am I not? I just need more time to finish it, that's why I am reading to pass the time."

"It will be noon before you finish at that pace." He sighed and kissed both of her hands while thinking of what to prepare for her.

At that moment, Zen boisterously came while Aquarius was on his trail. "Good morning sister-in-law! We brought delicious snacks for you. Let's eat this with a glass of milk." He announced as he opened the box he was eagerly carrying and revealed delicious oatmeal cookies and dried fig almond muffins. He suddenly frowned when he saw the bland food on her table. "My gods! Big brother, have you gone so poor to prepare a plain pancake for your pregnant wife? It didn't even have a drop of butter nor a slice of berry? If you can no longer afford to take care of your wife, I will just take her to my palace and shower her with luxuries."

Aquarius unceremoniously slapped Zen's head with his fan. "Stop spouting nonsense. You are a peasant compared to big brother."

Before Zen could retort to Aqua's biting words, they both abruptly stiffened when a chair harshly moved and saw Haru ran away like a speeding bullet. Their eyes widened and their mouths gaped open when they heard her retching her guts out. They didn't even notice that Adis quickly chased after Haru, panicking beside her while stroking her back and whispering encouraging words.

After she vomited the small amount of food she took, she leaned her back on Adis' broad c.h.e.s.t. She closed her eyes as she let his soothing manly scent lulled her nausea. She felt her husband wiped the sweat on her forehead, her tear-stained face and the corner of her mouth. 'Ah, so this is what morning sickness feels like. To say that it really sucks... was an understatement of the year. Damn it!' she thought to herself as she sobbed.

Adis nestled her body in his arms as he c.a.r.e.s.sed Haru's abdomen. He cajoled, "Little devil, mother is suffering so stop misbehaving. Aren't you hungry? It's time for your morning meal."

Haru buried her face on his collarbone and inhaled his scent as she listened to his comforting voice.

Fang took the box of snacks that the two Kings brought and attentively extended it to Adis.

"Does my little devil want some muffin? Your royal uncles brought food for you and your mother. Be good and listen to father, okay?" Adis continued his father-and-child persuasion as he took one of the muffins and attempted to feed it to Haru. When Haru refused to open her mouth and shook her head, he looked at her with tormented eyes. "Haru, Adis' heart is in pain to see you like this. If you don't eat, then I don't know what I should do anymore. Please, at least try to eat a little."

Haru looked at the muffin, afraid that she would vomit again. But she was really hungry since early this morning and she didn't want to worry her Adis any further. Like a small cat in doubt, Haru sniffed the food first and when her stomach did not react, she took a small bite... then another one, until she held the food herself and continued munching it like a squirrel.

All the being in the room were not aware that they were holding their breaths, but when they saw that Haru finished a piece of a muffin without any trouble, they all sighed in relief. Anais slithered to pass the glass of milk to Adis. He carefully tilted her body to make her drink the milk.

After Haru finished eating, Adis continued on gently rocking her body until she eventually succ.u.mbed to sleep due to exhaustion. In her dream, she felt someone carefully put her on a soft bed and covered her body with a blanket. Someone was also softly patting her c.h.e.s.t while humming a familiar song that she always sang to Adis. The last thing she felt before completely embracing her slumber was a cold and moist lips on her forehead, the side of her eyes and lips."

While Adis was tucking his wife on the bed, he heard light footsteps treading towards their chamber. A newcomer has arrived and it was someone he had been waiting for.

When Frost entered the chamber and saw the pale complexions of the audience around, he figured that something was wrong to the Queen. His gait became quick, yet careful, and moved toward the bed. Without any words, he bowed to the King of Umbra and felt the Queen's pulse while he used his auric sight to examine her aura.

"She fell asleep due to exhaustion. She had been feeling nauseous and throwing up all the food she ate." Adis spoke softly as he relayed his Queen's condition to Frost. "She's been fine since yesterday. What's going on?"

"Calm down, Your Majesty. Let us talk outside, otherwise, we may wake the sleeping beauty up." Frost whispered as he stood up straight.

Adis ordered his two brothers to watch over Haru while he would talk to the doctor at the balcony. Fang and Anais excused themselves and moved to protect the door.

"Worry not, Your Majesty, this sickness is normal to an expectant mother." Frost started as he inserted his hands in his pockets. "If anything, I'm surprised that it only happened now considering that Her Majesty is carrying a demon inside her. However, if not watch carefully, the sickness may cause severe weight loss, dehydration, and malnutrition which may be dangerous to the mother and the development of the fetus. My King, you need to prepare yourself as this sickness may last until her 16th week or longer. After all, we both knew that it will be a complicated pregnancy."

Adis shut her eyes tight as he brushed his fingers through his hair and looked up at the sky. "What should I do to ease her suffering? Is there a way where I can just take it all in... or at least share her burden?"

Frost smiled upon the sight of the King. The most powerful being in all three realms became a panic mess because of a woman. "Although it is impossible to suffer in her stead, you can definitely help Her Majesty in these difficult times. There must be a trigger to her nausea, possibly the smell of the food or beings around her. It may be the little devil's way of protecting her mother from harmful toxins or food that may cause them illness. Hmm? Does that mean the Queen has not eaten until she fell asleep?"

"No. After she vomited, I persuaded her to eat while being inside my embrace," Adis quickly replied.

"Ah, the mother and child must have felt safe when they have sensed your presence and smelled your scent. It is heartwarming to know how protective the child is for his mother at this early stage."

Adis stiffened then furrowed at the sudden realization. "Are you saying that there was a danger lurking around Haru earlier?

"I'm afraid only the little heir could tell what he felt this morning," Frost simply answered. He walked towards the table and took the plate that has the Queen's breakfast. He sniffed it while his psychometry was in motion. Then, he suddenly smiled mysteriously at the King. "I heard from Grave the situation at hand. He was fuming when the Duke's people turned our humble nest upside down. Fortunately, we were not at home when it happened."

Adis' expression instantly changed. The King's calmness was a dreadful sign of his menacing fury. "The walls have ears so it is best to speak less. Stay in the palace for the time being and watch over your Queen."

Frost elegantly bowed his head as he acknowledged the command. "I also would like to add, Your Majesty. As the little heir grows, the dark energy he will be emitting inside his mother's body will also increase. It is best that it will be released from Her Majesty's body. It can be s.u.c.k.e.d out by drinking her blood or by... o.r.g.a.s.m, whichever Your Majesty prefers. If the Queen still refuses to eat during her morning sickness, you may have her drink your blood instead. As her mate, your blood can serve as her supplement. Lastly, I suggest getting a doctor that specializes in pregnancy to aid this servant's limited knowledge."

"Mn," Adis simply nodded his approval.

He stepped back inside the chamber and whispered something to Aqua and Zen before the two nodded and left.

Adis knelt at the side of the bed and watched his queen's peaceful slumber with eyes full of devotion. Then, he shifted his attention to the tiny bump on Haru's abdomen and lovingly c.a.r.e.s.sed it. "You did well on protecting your mother, my little brave warrior. You made me proud. Continue to behave and protect her whenever it's necessary. I now understand your will." He leaned closer and kissed her abdomen as he whispered, "I love you, my little one."
