Queen Of Adis

Chapter 85 - The awakening

Adis swiftly pulled Haru up and held her firmly as he cast a protective barrier around them.

"What's going on?" Camus inquired as soon as he reached the couple. His body was glowing, a sign that his protective barrier was also active.

"We also don't know, grandfather. The ground just shook after big brother had planted that shoot." Zen replied and panicked at the same time.

"Your Majesties!" The three royal aides, including Graves and Drako, appeared from the shadows with worried expression written on their faces. "We are here to protect you."

Adis immediately barked his order. "Isaiah, send the Warriors' of Light to protect the people and to check their conditions. With an earthquake as strong as this, it will either kill someone or destroy something. Fang send the Grim Reapers to survey the mountains. Avalanche will definitely come next."

"Your Majesty, this quake... is just within the Light Palace's ground!" Fang responded.

The royalties were taken aback from the news.

Isaiah stepped forward and added, "The gentlemen in the royal court ran out of the palace when they felt the quake. But as soon as they stepped beyond the palace gate, they no longer felt even a slight tremble beneath their feet."

"We have closed the palace gate for the outsiders to avoid unnecessary casualties and interrogation. We have also instructed the palace personnel to stay outdoor or find cover for their own safety." A gorgeous undine confidently reported.

"Good job, Eva and everyone," Aquarius acknowledged when he finally recovered from the shock.

After approximately five minutes, the shaking gradually weakened until everything had gone back to normal, leaving dents and cracks on the ground and walls. Mountains of snow that poured down from the trees and roofs were scattered everywhere.

Haru gasped and her eyes instantly reflected with horror as she remembered her children. "My kids!" She cried out and gripped Adis' arms.

"Don't worry, Millie and Hannah are capable demons. They can take care of our children," Adis whispered while stroking her small back to pacify her emotion. "Besides, Vladimir can protect himself and his little brother if the need arises."

Her tensed muscles relaxed and she sighed in relief. Then her eyebrows creased when she suddenly heard a beautiful melody. She disengaged from Adis' embrace and slowly turned around. Her head moved left and right as though she was looking for something until her eyes landed on the single stalk of shoot that she just planted.

"Haru, what's wrong?" Adis tilted his head and asked.

"Can you not hear the song? It's so beautiful," Haru softly answered in a daze while her eyes were fixed on the plant.

Her pupils dilated and golden speckles emerged around her pupils, giving her eyes a l.u.s.trous glow just like the aura encircling the shoot.

"A song?" He furrowed his eyebrows and listened carefully to his surroundings, however, he didn't hear any song or melody.

He looked at the people around him and they all simultaneously shook their heads to convey the same sentiment.

While still in a trance, she slowly moved closer to the plant and hummed a melody that they have not heard before. Her humming becoming louder and she suddenly opened her mouth to sing a song.

"It's a song of the olden days

A melody of warmth in lovely ways

Hear my call, it's time to wake

Let's end this blight with this hand, I pray.

Shine thy light, to this land seeketh justice

Give thy warmth, to these hearts bound in ice

Bloom your life, trust unto the new dawn

Open your eyes, let bygone be bygone."

While she was singing, golden glittery sparkles drifted around her entire body. The thick snow beneath her feet melted and beds of flowers were slowly blooming.

Adis became alarmed of what was happening to her and moved to wake her from her trance, but Camus and Aquarius quickly held him still.

"Stop! I don't feel any danger from the light around her," Camus stated the obvious. "On the contrary, it feels so warm... like those days whenever the spring arrives."

"Ah, look, look, the plant seems to be changing!" Zen hollered and pointed at the plant.

The stalk was now completely enveloped in a faint golden light. Then it slowly expanded and suddenly let out a blinding light, making everyone squinted or covered their eyes from its overwhelming radiance. The light darted towards the heaven, parting the winter clouds to finally give way and reveal the clear and warm sky.

The citizens outside stopped in their tracks and watched the glorious spectacle. When the busybody nobles who ran out of the palace saw that the guards were caught off guard from the marvelous display of magic, they scrambled to go back inside and left the guards eating their dust.

When the blinding light dissipated, the tiny shoot had become an oak tree with a towering height that can be seen by the citizens a distance away from the palace and with massive branches that sprawled as wide as the entire garden maze. Its abundant leaves created warm shade for those who were beneath its gigantic care and the vibrant color of the green leaves and dark-brownish trunk were tones that they almost forgot due to the years-old winter.

Several huge yet curled leaves opened up and revealed tiny wood and flower fairies who had been sleeping for many years. Their transparent wings fluttered as they flew out of their cradle. The air seemed to be filled with colorful fireflies as the fairies' wings glowed majestically. Some started to play their musical instruments and others sang their greetings and praises to the new maiden of spring.

"All hail, the Queen is here

All hail, the spring begins

Believe, the land is free

All hail, all hail, yey we're free!"

The blanket of snow beneath the oak tree visibly melted and the water seeped into the soil. Lushes green grass sprouted on the ground while the melting of snow continuously crawled throughout the entire palace garden.

The frost surrounding the grass walls of the garden maze shattered, finally liberating the confined green leaves. The frozen water on the cherub fountain cracked, then gradually created a calming sound of running water. Myriads of wildflowers simultaneously bloomed everywhere. The once dull and painful grayish-white backdrop suddenly became a painter's overwhelming palette of earthy, spring colors.

Everyone, including the palace personnel and nobles who came back, stood like a log with their mouths gaped open and their eyes enlarged in great wonder.

"N-no way," an elder from the crowd found his voice as he croaked in disbelief. "Is this the lost art of wood magic? The only spell that can command the entire nature? A-are those forest fairies? The ones that were professed by history as extinct creatures? This is... impossible!"

There's really no way they're witnessing the awakening of spring from its long rest. No one could execute such an act unless you're... a god yourself.

The fairies continued to sing and dance as the surroundings were experiencing its changes after many years. They flew around the giant oak tree and surrounded their maiden of spring.

"Hooray, the sky is clear

Hooray, the winter breaks

Believe, the land is free

All hail, all hail, the Queen is here!"

Aquarius unconsciously loosened his grip on his fan, causing it to drop on the floor and create a loud sound. And yet, no one was able to recover from their complete shock. His hands lifted and reached for Zen's ear. Then he twisted it with full force as though he wanted to rip it off of his head.

A loud wailing finally snapped everyone from the incredible sight.q

"O-ow, ow! Hey, you two-faced bastard, that hurt!" Zen cried out and rubbed his ears to soothe the pain. "You almost tear my ear off. What the hell was that for?"

"I'm just checking if I am dreaming or not," Aquarius nonchalantly replied as if what he did was not a big deal.

Zen looked aghast, "That's not how it works. You're supposed to pinch yourself, not someone else."

Aquarius looked at him like he just spouted nonsense. "Why would I want to hurt myself? You're really stupid?"

Zen opened his mouth to rebut but closed it again when a wise, old woman's voice echoed throughout the place.

"My child, we meet again."

"Yggdrasil!" Haru exclaimed which earned a loud gasps from the onlookers. "Why are you here?"

"Yggdrasil?! We are in front of the noble and wise Tree of Life?!" The crowd whispered in chorus. Today, they had witnessed shocking events worth ten lifetimes.

"Because you have planted the last memory of the previous goddess of spring into the soil of Trium Regum, a new life was born in this world full of sins. At the first sign of a new life, your true power shall set free." Yggdrasil responded as her huge leaves rustled, reminding her of the promise that the gods had made to her.

"The time has come for you to awakened."

A thin line of light was shot to her glabella and the warmth coursed through her veins and enveloped her flesh and blood. The warmth gradually became scorching hot until it became an excruciating pain which made her fell on her knees with a loud thud. She let out a loud scream when she felt every bones and muscle in her body were being reconstructed without her consent.

She could smell the familiar scent of death looming over her as she felt that her breath was about to snap at any moment.

"HARU!"
