Queen Of Adis

Chapter 86 - Make me proud

"HARU!"

Adis called out on top of his lungs and struggled to reach her but Camus, the two Kings, and all the trusted aides combined their forces to restrict him.

"Don't be a fool!" Camus harshly scolded him. "The wise Yggdrasil is giving her, her rightful blessing. You'll be a hindrance to her growth! Don't imprison her with your suffocation love."

He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists in exasperation. He never felt so useless and helpless like the way he was feeling at that moment. Why can't this world just give Haru all the blessings and let him receive all the pain, instead?

But his grandfather was right. No matter how much he wanted to snip her wings to prevent her from flying off, he couldn't do it. He wanted to give her the happiness she seeks. And letting her grow into a breathtaking butterfly was his way of showing his love and support.

"Haru, you can do it, my love." Adis encouraged her to hold on while her tear-stained face was slowly ripping his heart out. "You are stronger than any pain this world will ever give to you. You are born to surpass any tribulations and deaths. I believe in you." He smiled while his eyes glistened with all the love he had for her. "Don't give up. I still owe you a date, remember?"

Her eyes fluttered upon hearing the muffled voice of her devil. Her already clouded eyes were gradually becoming clearer again. She shut her eyes and flooded her mind with happy thoughts to numb the pain that was deliberately killing her consciousness.

She gritted her teeth as she yelled out the only name she knew that could give her incomparable strength.

"ADIS! ADIS!"

"I'm here. Adis is here. I am watching you, Haru." He uttered as he blinked his tears away.

He pushed away the people who were restraining him and with a determined stance and voice, he commanded. "Stand up! Didn't you say you would like to share my burdens? This is just the beginning, Haru. The woman I love is not weak."

"Make me proud, my Queen!"

Her knuckles cracked as she clenched her fists tighter.

To Adis' surprise, she unceremoniously punched the ground beneath her with all her might. She felt another pain rushed through her muddled mind as the metallic scent of blood wafted in the air, fighting pain with pain.

Once her mind cleared a little, she did what her King had decreed.

With great difficulty, she slowly stood up, cursing and yelling in every painful second!

Her left hand gripped her c.h.e.s.t, feeling the strong palpitation of her heart. She won't be surprised if it would just leap out of her c.h.e.s.t and suddenly ran towards her devil. After all, that's how she developed her body these past few weeks.

Then, she closed her right palm. She imagined her power was within her control, just like what Adis thought her.

The pain was slowly subsiding, feeling the electric currents in her body were running towards one direction -- to her right palm.

When she finally opened her hand, a glowing seedling appeared and floated over her palm. A lump formed in her throat at the remarkable sight right in front of her. 'Adis, it worked!'

"My child, in your hand, is the lost art of nature; from the ground beneath your feet, the wilderness, the sprites that protect the plants and up to the high and mighty mountains, they are now yours to command. By your touch, the snow will melt, and on your trail, flowers will bloom and vail. You shall be known as the spring maiden, the bringer of new life. Such is your fate and might."

Yggdrasil's voice was slowly fading, as well as the forest fairies.

"Our queen!"

"Our spring maiden!"

The wood and flower fairies called her out as they gathered around her.

"Call us when you need us."

"We shall be everywhere, watching over you."

The tree of life's voice echoed in the air for one last time. "My child, bring an end to this coldness. Free the goddess of ice from her pain. And help the Dark King to lift this land from its cursed fate."

It was the last thing Haru heard before she completely fell back on the ground. A strong and familiar embrace caught her body before it could even touch the surface.

She smiled weakly when her eyes met her favorite eye candy. "My King, did I... make you proud?"

Adis lifted her hand and felt the warmth of her palm with his cold cheek. "You did. And you just made me fall for you all over again." He kissed her wrist and whispered against it. "You did great, today. Rest well, my love. Once you wake up, I'll take you on our long-awaited date."

That was all she needed before darkness engulfed her consciousness. And soon after, a beautiful dream of her King embracing her in her sleep came.

HEADLINE: The future Queen is the new goddess of Spring!

Just like what Zen predicted, the couple hit the headlines of all the newspapers throughout the three realms. Since the news was too shocking, the printing press couldn't wait for tomorrow's issue and made a special edition by the afternoon. It was sold out as soon as it hit the paper stands.

Everyone was having their own group and gossiped about the future queen and the upcoming dawn of spring. In one of the bars in Lumine, the drunk men and cheerful patrons sang the Queen's song and even made different versions of it.

The kids on the streets were singing it too as they ran and played.

"All hail, all hail, the Queen is here!"

In just half a day, the name Haru Akatsuki had been the talk of the realms. And before the end of that same day, everyone in Trium Regum was singing the Queen's song.

A new history was made. And it shall be known by every generation to come.

The greedy and corrupt elders, nobles and every faction in the land called out an emergency meeting, discussing on how to get the spring maiden from the vice grip of the Demon King so they could take the power and fame for themselves.

In a sacred tower where a loud tolling of a bell could be heard from a distance, an outstanding young man was sitting next to the window while cradling a grinning fat cat on his l.a.p. He was gently stroking her body, reveling at the feeling of her thick fur against his fingers and the sound of her faint purr.

"It seems the Demon King doesn't have a plan to inform our spring maiden of my existence. I guess it's time for me to pay them a visit. What do you think, Vesta?"

"Tee-hee-hee."
