Re: Death - Reincarnated Dead Into Another World

Chapter 11 - 9: Getting Stronger!

I wonder how many days have passed since I arrived here.

I feel like it already have been a month or so. But because of the dark clouds, I can't tell if it is the day time or the night time at all, let alone if a day had already passed. First and foremost, is the time here the same as the Earth's?

Hmmm.

Oh well.

Sooner or later, I will have to get out of this place anyways. I'll just take my time to understand everything by then.

Up until now, I've been consuming the Orbs that I encounter. Hopefully, I can also level up more from these, since I don't want to meet with a Treant at the moment. A trauma from that damage with a single hit is hard to shake off. Let's take it easy for now.

From time to time, I run into an Inferior Ghost.

I'm not talking about those scary type in movies or in paranormal videos. They're monsters that are called Inferior Ghosts. They appear to be white ball of flames, floating in the air. They're about the size of a tennis ball.

Yeah, just like this one right now.

Up until right now, I've just ignore most of them.

But it's different now.

The reason? I'm getting bored of consuming Orbs.

They only give a pinch of experience points too. Even though I already consumed a great number of them, I only leveled up 3 times. It's like I'm snacking on peanuts. They're good in the beginning, but can be quite boring after a while.

<Inferior Ghost Lv. 31>

[An Apparition Type monster. Inferior Ghosts uses low tiered magic to deal damage. They are harmless when left alone, but they can be aggressive and dangerous when provoked. They usually wander around dark places and observe other species. (Intelligence Level: 12%)]

Even though its level is higher than mine, and has higher status than me, it's not that big of a deal, since I only have to pass by it without provoking it. But even if that's not the case, with my current skills, I won't have any problems with it.

But look at those active magic skills…! *sniffle*

Still, now I know that I'm right, after all. Looking at its C.Manipulation, it's 10% and now it has magic skills. It really is the C.Manipulation I was lacking…

I have to find a way to raise my C.Manipulation, somehow…! It's too early to give up the way of being a mage! Yeah!!

… A-Ahem.

The Orbs are different from these, in the sense that they know how to distinguish things and fight if necessary. I guess that's because these Ghosts levels up from fighting, unlike Orbs that just float around without doing anything.

Although, it makes me wonder how Orbs level up.

Commonly, the ones that I encounter ranges only from level 8 or 10. Rarely do I encounter an Orb with a level of 15 and above. But even so, because of my status, they're easy to deal with.

Therefore, that will also be the case with this Inferior Ghost.

On the side note though, I feel like Inferior Ghosts' skills somewhat resembles mine. Judging from that, maybe I'll evolve to an Inferior Ghost after Poltergeist. But it doesn't have the Psychokinesis skill, though. At least, maybe they're related to Orbs or Poltergeist or something? Well, aside from its appearance, there's nothing much have changed. I'm even stronger than it is now.

I'll just have to evolve and evolve until I get even more stronger then, if that's really the case.

Looking at the skills once again, I noticed the Perception skill. So if I just evolve like that, I'll eventually obtain the Perception, huh? Well, since I got it earlier then I think that's for the best.

And so, I absorbed the Inferior Ghost even before it could notice me. It's definitely not because I was envious of its C.Manipulation or something.

Yeah. Absolutely not.

Soul Consume's duration of consuming differs from monster to monster with higher or lower CG compared to my own CG. Since the Inferior Ghost I just absorbed obviously had lower amount of CG than me, the consuming ended in an instant. It's different from the time during the fight with the Treant. I only had 11 CG that time, while the Treant had 900 CG. It's to be expected that my Soul won't be able to contain that amount of soul in an instant.

<Title acquired: Apparition Slayer>

Ohh… I leveled up.

Hm. I wonder what the maximum level here is.

I got to absorbed all of its skills too. Because of that, my Passive Magic skills leveled up and I gained a new Active Magic skills. But I never bothered to check since I can't use them anyways. I'll just get depressed again.

Alright, let's check the status for now. I haven't done so in a while, so I'm a bit excited about my growth for the past 4 levels ever since I evolved.

<Nameless: Poltergeist Lv. 14>

[An Apparition Type monster that is known for its skill "Psychokinesis." They are able to manipulate objects at will. They also have the power to perceive and manipulate Crysaztel at a small degree. However, they are still harmless and only loves to play pranks around people. (Intelligence Level: 100%)]

[Active Magic Skills]

(Dastre Orb) (Fiare Ball) (Fiare Arrow) (Zoia Orb) (Zoia Arrow)

Hmm… I got stronger again. But not much. I guess that's all I can get from leveling up four times.

And I acquired a new title. I slayed too many orbs, after all. And now I've come to slay Inferior Ghosts, too. It's not strange to be called a slayer at this point.

[Apparition Slayer: A title given to those who have mercilessly slayed Apparition Type monsters. Status points bestowed: +1 to Magical Attack with every level.]

… M-Mercilessly, it says… Am I that merciless? I'm not, right? And just from the sound of the title…

Anyways.

[Author Note: He stopped thinking about it.]

Now the hardest part has come. First and foremost, I got stronger in such a short amount of time because of my skills. Upon defeating the Treant, which is already quite the stronger monster around this place, I got to the point of defeating weaker monster don't give much experience anymore.

I tried looking for more Treants to defeat and raise my level, only to find ordinary bald trees. It seems like Treants are rare even among these many trees.

Also, there's also a problem with consuming Orbs to level up.

Well, even though they only give few experience points for me to level up, it's not that of a problem to just continue doing so. I just have to consume and consume until I level up, anyways.

But that's where the problem lies. It seems like there's a limit to how many Souls I can consume at a time. Let's say for example, 1 Orb is equal to 1 Soul, then my soul capacity is only up to 100 souls, if I exceed even only one soul then I will pass out from reaching Soul Overload. I will have to wait for hours to be able to consume again. At the moment, I don't have a clear view on the capacity yet, but I feel sluggish and my head starts feeling heavy whenever I'm nearing my limits. I should be careful from now on.

It happened the second time, and I was almost eaten alive by the crows again. I found my HG decreased to an extremely dangerous level.

On the other hand, I can just attack the Orbs. But it's needless to say that I don't have a means to attack a monster that has an Intangible skill, right?

It seems like Magic attacks works with Apparition Type monsters. Since I tried receiving an attack from another Poltergeist earlier. Well, it reflected the attack, though. I guess that's why I received an attack when I was still a Wandering Soul even though I was intangible.

But needless to say…

I.

Can't.

Use.

Magic.

And so, I'll give up targeting the Orbs. Let's go with Inferior Ghosts and Ghosts, for the time being.

I'm not wishing for a strong monster, mind you. I'm still cautious about the level of strengths in this world. However, I want more monster that can make good experience points.

For now, I can only wander again, selectively Soul Consuming monsters in the process.
