So this is what I've gathered from Fina so far.

Well, I was a bit wondering at how she could just say these all to me without even shredding a bit of doubt at us, but… I gratefully accept the information she's been giving us.

And just as she said…

Anyways.

Their village is called Auguria Village. A rather small village found at the edge of the Aelven Continent.

Their main source of resource is one, farming or agriculture. With the help of their Human residents' knowledge of machinery and technology, it seems like it's the best way for them, for a start.

Two, mining. Since the location of the village is near the Dastrientel Mountain Range, which is to my ignorance, is supposed to be known for its abundant magical resources.

Fina mentioned that the place is not strictly for their village's use, but… I noticed that she was a bit embarrassed to say that it was actually an unauthorized mining, so I thought that must be the case.

Well, it's not like the land was a property of someone, so it's not really like that. Also, it seems like this Dast Forest was already long abandoned by the races ever since they've heard of the news of the sealing of the Evil God's remnant.

Then again, when the village was built, it was the only close and accessible place to gain resources. For the village, that was a perfect chance to gain a decent resource plant. So they were the first to break the unwritten rule of leaving the place alone.

I conjecture that the other races no longer see any profit from these resources, so it looks like there are no longer competition over them. Moreover, if it's that dangerous according to them, then sending forces to gather materials only to be met with uncertain possible casualties would only lead to a loss instead of gain.

That's why, these guys must really had rough, for them to risk their lives just to procure those magical resources.

One of those said magical resources is the Glow Stones.

Glow Stones are Crysaztel infused metals that can be used to create weapons and armories. They can also be used to make enchanted farming tools for better results.

Seriously though, I almost went into an existential crisis about my prior knowledge of chemistry and physics when I heard that.

Aside from that, the Glow Stones that are mined here fetch a high price at the trade market compared to other resource materials. That's why this material is a must have for the growth of their community.

Another, there is also a special way to make use of Glow Stones. And that is…

Making an Analysis Bangle.

It's the same as my Analyze skill, but they only show the wearer's status. Honestly, I got fl.u.s.tered over the fact that it can show someone's status details. I was worried if she could see my status all this time.

If she where to see the Evil God Title…

That would lead to more troublesome thing…

I mean, they're investigating the disappearance of the remnants of the Evil God, and then suddenly I'll be going…

At any rate, the Glow Stone here is different from the Glow Stones you can see elsewhere. Since the Evil God has been releasing Crysaztel in this place and has spread all over the Dast Forest ever since it was sealed, the abundance of Crysaztel is incomparable to the other places. As a result, the Glow Stones here have absorbed more Crysaztel than it could compared to other places.

I guess that's also one of the reason how I got to defeat such an insanely strong god, even for a remnant. It's weaker than it formerly was.

As for the loli's investigation, it seems like it's something that even Fina couldn't tell me. All I know is something about an investigation of the disappearance of the Evil God's remnant. But other than that, it seems like I can't force her to tell me.

I wanted to know more about it. Like, from where they get their information, or how they knew that the Evil God's remnant disappeared, and such.

The fight with the Evil God was around three weeks ago. Including the time they used to travel here, which according to Fina is approximately a week, they learned of that fact just a week after.

That means, they had a week to get that information from here. That's really quick, in my opinion.

Hmm… To be honest, I want to know more about this. It may concern how I can protect Fleur, after all. But I don't want to force it out of Fina. That's a no-no, even for me.

Oh, right. Fina also said that this is her first time coming to this place. It should be the loli's role to act as a bodyguard for the miners. But because of an urgent business, it seems like the loli pushed to work to her.

Well, one way or another, they both went together to act as bodyguards. Also, Fina said that it would be a good training ground for her. It seems like she herself has some goals she wants to achieve, and in order to do that, it would need strength.

I also shared my own fair share of my story.

Obviously, not all. I just told her that I'm a traveler who met Purin and Fleur on the way and became travelling buddies.

She was curious about Fleur's elegant appearance and asked if she was a noble before becoming a traveler, so I just told her that she was a runaway. Telling a fabricated melodramatic, tear-jerking, story for her to buy, to my surprise, I found her bawling her eyes out while hugging Fleur.

Fleur, on the other hand, woke up, baffled over the bizarre situation. So I just apologize to them in my head, and watched over them warmly.

Can't help it, can I? I have to make sure. I'm just making precautions.

Fina: "So what's the plan now? It's been around three hours now… Muu… I'm getting hungry…"

Ciel: "Hmm… Let's see…"

For now, we found an underground lake full of Glow Stones underneath. It's quite a sight to behold. The water is clear enough to see the bottom of the lake and even the small fishes that swim in it. Much further below is a giant hole connecting to another body of water, or so it seems from my Detect.

Not sure if they're edible, though. They live under a cave. Who knows what kind of defense mechanism they've developed.

We're sitting by it to think for a while.

Fleur: "Nh… Hnn…"

A sweet smell permeates the surrounding. Kind of familiar…

… Ahh… I have a bad feeling about this.

Ciel: "Ah, right. I have some preserved food here. Want some?"

Fina: "Oooh! Thankies! I'll have some~"

I got them out of my Storage and gave them to Fina and Fleur. Of course, making it looks like I got them out from the bag. They're just smoked meat from the boar Purin hunted before. It's not that goodish good, but it made me nostalgic about eating bacon. Well, I taught Purin how to make them, after all.

I'll have Purin make them again sometime.

Fina: "Myuu?! B-Bacon?? This tastes like bacon??"

Ciel: "Bacon…"

She had bacon before…

When I taught Purin how to prepare it, it was the first time she heard of it. That all-knowing slime didn't know such a recipe. She, who knows all kinds of recipes in the world, didn't know something called bacon.

… I should just ask. I'll ask and see.

Ciel: "… Fina, you see-…"

My words was halted by a falling sound. When I look at the source, I found Fleur lying on the ground while clutching her crotch and c.h.e.s.t. She's blushing from ear to ear, even down to her c.h.e.s.t.

Oh. So that's what the sweet smell was all about.

Wait, it's not the time to nonchalantly analyzing things!

Fina: "Fleur?! Fleur! Are you okay??"

I return the bacon back inside the storage and went to check on Fleur. Pulling her body and place her back on my arms, I placed my hand over her forehead just to be sure.

Upon doing so, I felt a slight shiver ran through Fleur's body.

Fina: "She's so flushed… And panting heavily… Fever?? She wasn't like this up until earlier…!"

Ciel: "It's not a fever, actually."

Fina: "'Actually'?? Y-You know what's happening to her?? Why has she suddenly collapsed?? And how can you be so calm?? Wh-What should Fina do??"

Chloe was bad at these kind of things, if I remember right.

No. Don't go there yet, me. First, I have to do something about Fleur.

Ciel: "Ahh… It's the usual, so…"

Turning my way towards the source of the deafening screech, there I found a swarm of ants. Black ants.

And not just ordinary ants you can find anywhere that eats your leftover foods.

They're as large as a small car, with a pair of scissor like pincer attached to their mouths as if they're about to cut an acacia tree in two.

And by swarm, I meant a whole lot of them. Actually we're surrounded from all sides. From the path we just took, and from the two other paths from the side. Luckily, we have the lake behind us. But that luck will be used up if we don't do something about this current situation.
