Rebirth Of The Virtual World Legend

Chapter 16 - Steel Tier Boss

"A punch of morons want to catch me with this level of skill, keep dreaming. You should train for another hundred years before trying."

Ye Chen scorned as he stood at entrance of the village.

"Now let's get back to the real business."

"From the information I gathered the last time I was in the game, this game is about 80-90% similar to the game I played in my last life"

"If my guess was true then my chances to earn enough money for the family to move to a better place in the next two months won't be a dream"

Ye Cheng was talking to himself as he looked at the game map, this map showed the beginner village map and many of the surrounding places, he had bought it earlier from an NPC at the price of 10 silver coins although it was not very detailed but for YE Cheng it was more than enough.

After looking at the map for a whole 5 minutes, he decided his first destination.

Ye Cheng then left the Beginner Village and moved towards the mountain region south of the village.

He remembered that there was a Rare Medical Herbs Field somewhere in a corner of the mountains which refreshed every hour. Each harvesting could result up to 5 or 6 Rare Medical plants. Such Rare Medicine Herbs Fields were rare in the entire Beginner Village and they were always guarded by some strong monsters in order to increase the difficulty of getting the medicine herbs.

Medical Herbs were essential for making potions which made them very valuable.

The beginner village purpose of existence was to help the players adapt to the game so players were rarely exposed to danger unless they challenged a boss or a monster with level much higher than theirs so who would spend a high price to buy potion.

In the current stage of the game most players are either fighting monsters or accepting missions to increase their levels but when they reach Lv10 and lose the protection of the beginner village they will find about the painful reality and find about the importance of potions especially when attacking Dungeons the strength of the monsters will increase a lot even with potions the success rate of taking a Dungeon at the difficulty of Hard or higher would be minimal let alone without potions. Even the Normal difficulty would be a little hard for some teams without potions.

At that time the price of potions will skyrocket and the price of Medical Herbs will also increase.

If Ye Cheng could store some Medical Herbs and sell them at the right time, he could make a fortune.

This was indeed the so called high risk high reward!

The journey was long. Ye Cheng spent more than half an hour to reach a valley surrounded by many plans with various shapes.

In the deepest pit of the valley, an herbs field had grabbed Ye Cheng's attention. That was exactly the only Rare Medicine Herbs Field that would be refreshed in the entire Beginner Village. Lying next to it, though, was a 5 meters tall and 2 meters long giant yellow chicken!

Although not as strong as the Double-Headed Bloody Lion or the wolf king it was one of the strongest bosses in the Beginner Village and much stronger than the white wolves that Ye Cheng fought before – the Yellow Rooster King!

[Yellow Rooster King] (Steel Tier Boss)

Level: 15

That is a d*mn hell frightening chicken!

Ye Cheng took out the Experimental Poison and smeared it on the Silver dagger. The blade of the dagger immediately shone with an emerald glow.

Poisons were an unique attribute only available to players with the Thief class but Ye Cheng still hadn't learned any skills related to poison. Luckily for him that the game producers had wanted to let other players experience the charm of Poison and so they had placed a limited amount of Experimental Poison in Beginner Village and each player could only purchase one bottle, so it would not affect the balance of the game.

This had become the key factor for Ye Cheng to slay the boss!

"I should look for a poison making skill soon. It would be very useful when fighting strong enemies" Ye Cheng made the decision to look for a poison related skill when he had a free time.

Ye Cheng adjusted himself before using stealth and moving quietly towards the Yellow Rooster King.

Ye Cheng swung his dagger and slashed the Yellow Rooster King.

Due to the big level gap and the extremely high defense of the boss-level monster, even with Ye Cheng usually high damage attack, he had only inflicted a small damage on this boss.

The only way to kill this high level and high defense boss was to rely on the power of Poison.

After his attack landed on the boss, Ye Cheng was forced out of his stealth.

This was also one of the disadvantages of the beginner stealth, the moment you attack the opponent its effect would disappeared.

After being stunned a little by the sudden attack, the Yellow Rooster King recovered and waved its wing towards Ye Cheng, enraged.

Ye Cheng calmly dodged and evaded the monster's attack. At the same time, he made another swing of his dagger and landed it on the Yellow Rooster King's body.

"Ding! Your attack has caused Yellow Rooster King to be affected by Experimental Poison (1 stack), losing 3 HP every second!"

Poisons were categorized as magic damage and the damage could only be reduced by magic resistance!

Ye Cheng showed a hint of joy. Although the effect of the poison was not too strong, as long as he could inflict another stack within 15 seconds from the first stack, he could slowly acc.u.mulate a total of 5 stacks and gain the full effect of the Poison!

The Yellow Rooster King got more furious as its strike missed while in turn, was damaged numerous times by its enemy. It clawed fiercely towards Ye Cheng.

Ye Cheng performed like a professional player, evading attacks by constantly moving and changing his position. He did not waste any chances to attack, slashing continuously as more damage was inflicted on the boss.

"Ding! Your attack has caused Yellow Rooster King to be affected by Experimental Poison (2 stack), losing 6 HP every second!"

"Ding! Your attack…"

In no time at all, the Experimental Poison's effect had stacked up to 5 times, causing the Yellow Rooster King to lose 15 HP with each passing second. Although this was ridiculously slow compared to its long HP bar, the boss would eventually die from the poison after some time if Ye Cheng maintained his game.

Ye Cheng dared not be careless! As a thief Ye Cheng's HP couldn't compare to guardians or warriors so if got even a single hit from the boss his feeble HP would be in a mortal danger. It would have been a confirmed kill if he got hit even twice.

1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes…!

After a long time had passed, the HP of the Yellow Rooster King decreased to around 10%.

"A mere Chicken like you should obediently wait to be cooked into a dish of Crispy fried chicken. This is where you can achieve your maximum value in life. Why are you still resisting?" after this long time of fighting Ye Cheng started to get tired so he was trying to tease this giant Chicken a little.

As if enraged by Ye Cheng words suddenly the creature flashed a blood-red glow. Its originally huge size now grew even larger gaining faster Attack Speed and higher frequency of attacks!

This was what players commonly identified as a Berserk State where only strong monsters would enter whenever they were near death like what happed with that lion from the last time.

"F***!"

Ye Cheng's nerves were high-strung, fully unleashing his athleticism to dodge the Yellow Rooster King's attacks again and again. If the Agility Attribute's Points were not high enough, a character's Movement Speed would obviously be unable to keep up with the player's reflexes. Only by distributing more Attribute Points on Agility would it be possible for him to utilize his advantage to his best ability. As an expert player, Ye Cheng of course knew of this so he distributed his SP point on the Strength and Agility Attributes in order to prevent his character from not being able to keep up with him.

Of course, towards the latter part of the game, along with the improvement of equipment quality, the character attributes would become less important and could eventually be ignored. A good equipment would be the better way to properly enhance one's capability.

The damage numbers kept appearing above the Yellow Rooster King's head, Ye Cheng finally managed to drain its HP. As the last damage from the Experimental Poison flashed, a m.o.a.n was heard from the Yellow Rooster King as it fell on the ground, died and turned into a white light.

Finally, it was over. Ye Cheng let out a sigh of relief. He felt exhausted after so long time of fighting in this intense battle.

This was the longest and most exhausting battle he Ye Cheng has fought since he entered the game but thankfully it ended well.

"Who knew that chickens could be this troublesome, I think I'll stop eating chicken for a while" Although Ye Cheng was complaining the smile on his face didn't decrease.

"Ding! You have killed the Yellow Rooster King. Gained 20,000 Experience Points (Double Reward for Exceed Level Kill)!"
