Redeeming The Sins Of Xu Rouguang [BL]

Chapter 48 - Are You Two Dating Now?

Hiccups came with the sound of sobbing. The woman kept on crying as much as she could while sitting on the corner of the room. She kept on crying on her arms, unaware of the sliding of the paper door. A man in dark-hued clothing stared at her before walking inside. On his hand were strings tied to jars of wine. He put the wine down and sat in front of the grieving woman.

"...Did they say something again?" The man chuckled as he reached for his lapel and pulled on them to loosen their grip on his c.h.e.s.t. These were so uncomfortable, but he shouldn't be walking around with his c.h.e.s.t visible.

"Am I... am I pathetic?" The woman raised her head partially, looking over her arms to see the man before her. She then brought her knees down and crawled towards the man. The woman then settled on his l.a.p and continued crying, creating a pool of tears that marked on the man's robes. "Am I not someone worth one's love?"

"I'm pretty sure you deserve love." He ran his fingers through her hair, stroking at her head. "Your weak light is a warm light. Even if your family deemed you unworthy of their praises, the entire village looks up to you. You're a lot more than those who roam the streets with all those bulky armor and swords on their waists.

"Listen to me. Those brutes could kill a thousand demons, but only you could save a thousand lives. Without you, the villagers would be living with a heartless tyrant and a selfish lady." He cupped his hand on the woman's face, rubbing her cheek. "Maybe not now, but you'll get there. Whether your father likes it or not...

"You're still the young lord of the village."

Xu Rouguang roused from his sleep on his own. When his eyes opened, there were still traces of his tears. However, he was already lying down on the side of the bed. His head perked up as he looked for Lai Mingjie.

"Hey, you're up. Yay." Lai Mingjie only laughed out as if mocking the other. He was already on his feet and fixing his clothes in front of a mirror he borrowed from the staff. The demon king looked over his shoulder. "Princess Xu, until when are you going to lie down there? I wanna go home tonight. I'm not spending another day in here."

"Ah, right." Xu Rouguang sat up and smoothed the crease in his clothes. He then spotted the bag packed at the couch. His eyes trailed back to Lai Mingjie who was combing his tousled hair. "Someone came to help you?"

"Auntie did. You're so lucky not to see her face when she found you like that."

"I'm sorry, that must be humiliating for you." Xu Rouguang lowered his head. "I'm sorry, Jie. I didn't know what came over me. I ended up crying myself to sleep. I even delayed your discharge..."

The other man twisted his lips before bringing his arms down. He walked to Xu Rouguang and then reached out to comb the general's bed hair with his fingers. "Remember when we got kicked out of the wake? You're not even allowed to see his grave." He then kneeled down to hold Xu Rouguang's chin and lift it up just so they could see each other's eyes. "You haven't grieved properly, Rouguang. Immortal or not, you're human. Give yourself that."

Xu Rouguang's eyes widened for a second before dimming into a close. A small smile rose before he wrapped his arms around Lai Mingjie's neck. He pressed their foreheads together, but he started crying silently. The demon king only closed his eyes and moved his hands to rub Xu Rouguang's back. He could only make hushing noises as he tried to make it look like everything would be okay.

After settling everything with the hospital and calling his parents about his sudden discharge, Lai Mingjie sent a message for Director Cheng to pick them up before turning off his phone. There was a chance that his mother would be calling him again and negotiating with him. Xu Rouguang felt a little better after crying out loud and sleeping; now, he just wanted to sleep on the bed next to Lai Mingjie.

Director Cheng didn't arrive personally, but someone came to fetch them up. It was one of Director Cheng's secretaries, and he said he was told to ferry them back to the c.o.n.d.o.minium. Of course, Lai Mingjie thought about getting his own car after all... now that Xu Rouguang was around. If Xu Rouguang would be asked, he could just carry and fly Lai Mingjie to wherever he wanted.

Thursday rolled in, and JT was both surprised and pleased to see the return of the young boss. He might not be exactly friendly-looking, but he was still admired by many from a distance. Who were they to boldly announce their attraction anyway? Even their love letters were neatly returned by Xu Rouguang personally. They have no chance at scoring such a big fish—not even a saint.

Of course, the other directors went to check in on their youngest member. Also, they wanted to see how much damage was done. Based on what they heard from their secret investigators, his skull was cracked, his neck was broken, his ribs were dented, and his arm was twisted to mutilation. Right now, Lai Mingjie walked into JT with just a fiberglass brace on his right forearm and hand. What happened to the other injuries? All gone in three days?

With all the directors having a chat rather than a meeting that morning, Lai Mingjie was stunned. His Princess Xu... knocked out Director Huang and tried to cover it up? The old goat was now in a different hospital and still unconscious? Considering Xu Rouguang's strength, that bastard would never wake up in this lifetime.

After the meeting, Lai Mingjie brought Liu Qiu to the pantry and made her explain what happened in detail. However, she knew things differently as she believed the commotion was a break-in and not a direct assault towards the other secretary. Then again, it would all add up in the end.

Loud laughter burst from Lai Mingjie as Xu Rouguang returned to his desk after collecting reports from the other finance offices. His boss was wrecking his stomach open with that kind of laugh. He then spotted Xu Rouguang and beckoned him closer.

"Princess Xu! Princess Xu! You kicked Dirty Huang right in the head?! Is it true? Is it true?" Lai Mingjie sounded so excited over the demise of such an excuse of a human being. However, he forgot to care about Liu Qiu's existence as he straight-up called him 'Princess Xu'.

"Jie, don't sound so happy. It's bad for your arm." The secretary chuckled, trying to ignore the horror in Liu Qiu's eyes.

Not only was she lied to by the poor young man, but he was also attacked by that bastard when she was out. She felt like it was her fault. "Rouguang! How could you! Oh, my God! Where did his hands go? Did you scrub thoroughly?" She even went to hug the man and shook her as she cried lightly. "I'll never leave you on your own ever again!"

She then ushered him to sit down on the couch where Lai Mingjie was sitting at. As if nothing happened earlier, she brought her hands together before her c.h.e.s.t and asked with bright eyes. "Now that you're back, let's hear it. Are you two dating now?"

The grin on Lai Mingjie's face froze as he glared at Liu Qiu. Ah, this shameless auntie. She didn't even try to beat around the bush. Xu Rouguang only scratched his cheek, hoping that Lai Mingjie would answer instead.
