Reincarnated As

Chapter 5 - Town of Gabriel

Hazard landed in the alley way and attempted to deactivate [Winged] but it wouldn't turn off.

[Wings activated by [Winged] skill last until Mana runs out... but due to your massive Mana pool your Mana regeneration is equally as massive, also your constant use of Mana causes your Mana pool to increase continuously. Causing you wings to last exponentially, it is possible to move your wings so you can hide them under your robe if you'd need.]

'Shit... I screwed up. Why does something so cool cause all these damn consequences.'

Hazard held his head cursing himself in his head. He untied the sleeves of the robe from his waist and put the robe on fully, curling his unfortunately placed glowing wings underneath the robe a blue light dimly could be seen glowing through the seams.

Hazard put the hood up and looked out of the alley into the street, before walking walking out he asked Sam a very a important question: 'So, where is the Adventurer's Guild?'

[Finally a guild arc.]

'Shut it.'

Hazard walked out of the alley, and headed in the direction of the town's Adventurers Guild.

'Sam, can you display basic information about Gabriel?'

[Aye aye, Captain.]

"..."

A blue screen appeared in front of his eyes with a huge amount of information, mostly useless information about over taxation by the local Lord, history about the town center and fountain, and stories about famous adventurers that come by every once in a while, but their was also a lesson on the fundamentals of magic and magic control.

'This town is very out of the way, isn't it Sam.'

[Information about other settlements are unknown at this time. Names of cities or countries are required to download basic information.]

'Thanks for your help Sam...' he grumbled in his head. Hazard continued down the road getting suspicious looks from those outside their homes. Even if he was a stranger this was to much, they really must be uncomfortable with travelers.

After a minute of walking Hazard arrived at the famed building from his memories, his safe place in his own head, the Adventurer's Guild.

The building was beautiful despite the shabby portion of town it was found in. It was wooden painted white with two windows, and a coat of arms above the door with a symbol of a sword and a staff carved in. The building was clearly well kept. Guild's are exempt from paying property tax as they pay a portion of their earnings to the country they are found in, so it wasn't to hard to maintain.

Hazard's back was beginning to glow even more as he got more excited so Sam spoke up.

[Hazard, Mana output can increase or decrease depending on emotions. Please try to control yourself, your wings are glowing through the fabric.]

'Oh...' Hazard immediately calmed down he didn't want his emotions to run rampant.

[Please note that liquid Mana's temperature also changes based on output, and as your wings are made of an energized liquid form of Mana called "mist" it is possible that your excitement or other similar emotions could cause your wings to burn holes in the robe.]

'That's actually some good info, thanks.

[No problem, desu. Moving on, I predict that if you were to experience sadness the color would become slightly darker and the light would be more dim. Conversely if you were to experience genuine anger the color would become a purple, the brightness of the Mana flow would increase, and the size of the wings will multiply.]

'...also good information, now... how did you come to this conclusion?'

[Observations from your changing emotional state compared to brightness and concentration of Mana in wings.]

'...'

Hazard walked up to the door and opened it. Immediately everyone turned to look at the hooded figure who had just walked in. Hazard looked across the crowd, all of them uncouth and bandit like. A few of them wore fancy robes or expensive looking sets of armor, and a few of the more bandit like characters gave him dirty looks.

Hazard walked straight up to the front desk run by the stereotypical beautiful woman and asked the famous question.

"Can I register as an adventurer?"

"Yes of course, please fill out this form and come back to move onto the next step."

Hazard took the form and sat down in a wooden chair by the bar and began answer questions, everything was simple as it didn't ask for stats. That is until the question of "What is your race?" came up.

'What do you recommend I do?'

[Writing human would be the best choice as it is not technically a lie, you were once human.]

So Hazard did as Sam said and moved on. Next "difficult" question was "What is your class?"

'I'm assuming that classes refer to things like Samurai, Thief, Mage.'

[Yes, and as you don't own anything it might be best to write Brawler, a class which focuses on CQC and doesn't require a weapon.]

'Seems like the right move.'

Hazard finished the questions and then walked back up the the receptionist and handed her the registration form.

"Ok... this all checks out, please follow me into the next room to do an assessment."

Hazard nodded and then walked behind the woman as she went into the next room. Inside of the room there was a clear crystal ball sitting alone attached to a wooden table, behind the table sitting on a busted up old chair there was a man with brown hair and a huge scar running across his eyes.

[Warning: that man is the guild master, please mind what you say...]

'Gotcha'

"Is there a reason the guild master wishes to watch my assessment." Hazard asked politely.

"We received a report from a party of of A ranked adventurers that they met a man walking out of a Variant Silver Striped Wolf after it's head had been cut off. That man matches your description: A man that looks like a child with icy white hair, about 5'5 in height and the man would be wearing a black robe with golden trim." The guild master finished speaking.

"Does that mean that I can't register?" Hazard questioned.

"No, all it means is that we are testing your abilities in private. We wouldn't want someone of your strength to be exposed without being a high ranking member of the Guild." he chuckled.

'That makes sense, but something feels off.'

[I recommend you use skill [Appraisal] as this man is very odd.]

[Appraisal]

'Holy shit, this guy is a demon...'

[No, he is a human.]

'Not what I meant.'

"Are you ready to take examination?"

"Sure, and I'm assuming all results will be kept private by the Guild."

"Of course." the man yelled while laughing loudly. "Now please place one hand on the magic sensor."

Hazard lifted his right hand and as he brought it closer to the crystal, it began to glow a whitish blue color.

"Woah that's not normal" The Guild Master said while moving his face closer to the orb.

Hazard continued to move his hand closer and closer to the orb and it just kept getting brighter, after he was a only few inches from the crystal it became blinding... and then exploded shattering and sending shrapnel flying everywhere, including into the Guild Master and Hazard, but their defense stats were so high that the shards broke upon impact. Although the walls weren't so lucky, reflective shards punctured the walls and some went completely through, spraying out into the main building.

Hazard and the Guild Master immediately jumped up out of their chairs and flew out the door checking to see if anyone had been hurt.

Adventurers of course, were a sturdy bunch so everyone was fine, although some sheilds had been punctured and hats stuck to walls.

One mage was completely stuck to the wall, her clothing was nailed into the wall, she was completely stuck. Hazard turned to the Guild Master and asked, "so... did I pass? also I'm not paying for that."

"Hahaha, youngin of course you passed, and please call me James."

"Nice to meet you, James." Hazard smiled.

"HAZARD!!!! GET ME DOWN FROM HERE!" a voice came from the girl stuck to the wall and he recognized it.

'Oh shit it's the pyromaniac.'

"...Heeeey..." Hazard said awkwardly while turning to see Gem, stuck to the wall, with Fell and Sandra trying to pull the shards out of the wall.

"I said get me down!"

"C-c-coming." He called while running over to pull the shards out of her clothing.

"Good to see you all, again?"

"Mhmm..." x3

"Ehhhhhhhhhhh?"
