"Pam, who were these people? Why do you owe them money?" Alex asked with a serious face.

"This... When I bought this restaurant, I found out that the 1st wife had hired loan sharks to collect the money that I owe to her. She didn't let me have this money for free. With the loan sharks, I have been paying monthly interest for eight years and still couldn't close the debt, even though I paid twice the amount I got from her!" Pam replied.

"That bitch!" Alex couldn't help but curse from anger. Luckily she died. Otherwise, he would've killed her from rage.

"So even after the bitch died they still trying to get collect money from you?" Alex diverted his anger to the loan sharks.

"Yes! I couldn't do anything about it! The guards seemed to favor the loan sharks, so I mostly avoid making any complaints to them." she replied.

"Pam, I am sorry! Its because of my stupid father and me, you had to go through the pain all these years! I know that bitch hated me, but I didn't think she would steep so low! Let me make up for it!" Alex said to her.

"Thank you, Alex!" Pam smiled kindly.

Pamela cried a little after seeing him calling her as a mother. Alex couldn't help but laugh after seeing her cry like a little kid.

"Ok! I'll leave for now and will come tomorrow morning, so get ready you guys will move together with me!" Alex said as he got up.

"No buts... Tomorrow I will come to take you guys! I don't care what you think. Be prepared with your things to move in with me!" he replied.

Pamela couldn't help but acknowledge seeing his stern face.

"Good! I will leave now!" he said as he turned around.

"Big Brother, are you leaving? Can't big brother stay here with Lily!" Lily asked with her puppy eyes threatening to cry.

"Does my sweet Little sister wants to stay with me?" Alex asked which she nodded.

"Okay! Pam, I will take Lily with me and bring her tomorrow! Is that okay?" Alex asked her.

Pamela thought for a second and nodded in acceptance. Still, she couldn't help but worry if someone in the mansion finds out about her.

Seeing her worrying face, Alex couldn't help but say, "Don't worry! With me, there is no one in the city can put a scratch on her!"

Alex took Lily and placed her on his shoulders. He took her to the mansion while chatting about what she likes and her hobbies. Lily didn't have her previous shyness; now she was giggling and laughing with him like a sweet little kid.

"Laura, why isn't he home yet? Didn't you say he went with that girl Rose for a date? She's returned to the mansion. Why isn't he still here yet?" James asked Laura in frustration. He was waiting for Alex to have a hearty talk in dinner but later found out he was out for a date. Still, he chose to remain and start a conversation about their date, but he still hasn't returned yet.

"Why are you getting so worked out now? Didn't you leave him alone all these years without even asking him how's he faring with his cultivation and stuff? Now why's the sudden care and interest in him?" she rebutted for annoying her.

James only replied with a humph.

Alex felt curious about why the Old man summoned him. He walked together with Lily to the main living room of the mansion.

He saw Laura sitting together with James while Evelyn was watching them from far.

James wanted to ask how the date went. But after seeing him return with a little girl, he was speechless. James had a weird sense of familiarity with the little girl before him. For cultivators, it was easy to sense their bloodlines than ordinary people. Alex couldn't sense because he didn't have a blood connection with Lily from the mother side. So it's normal for his siblings not to feel close even though they share the same father.

He patted her head and started explaining. James was sure the little girl was his blood, but he was shocked to hear what transpired on his behind. His furious at his first wife for hiding something important from him. Alex also added where the first wife hired a loan shark behind her back to make her suffer. James and Laura felt sorry for the little girl and the maid that suffered all these years for his mistake.

Looking at the sweet little girl suffering all these years without a father made James's heart pain. James asked the little girl to come towards him.

Lily didn't move; she looked at Alex for an answer. Alex nodded his head and only after that she slowly walked towards.

James's eye tear looking at how frail the little girl's body was. She wasn't plump like most of the kids rather skinny and weak than her peers. He tightly hugged her not enough to hurt her, but it made Lily feel the warmth and less defensive.

Laura then took her to her l.a.p and chatted with her.

"So where does she live?" James asked Alex.

"Don't worry! I asked her to be prepared tomorrow! I will bring her to the mansion to stay with us!" he replied.

James didn't disagree and acknowledged his choice was right. After a minute of talking, Alex took Lily and went towards their room to sleep for the night.

James and Laura didn't go to their room, instead talked the whole night.
