Resurrected As A Sith Lord: A Star Wars Story

Chapter 3 - The Fall Into Darkness

Jason didn't sleep much last night with this meeting with Master Ajunta Pall on his mind. He sat up on the edge of his bed thinking what he should do about the meeting. Whether he should go or not, or if he should report it to the council. After sitting there for a minute, he finally got up from the bed and got dressed for the day.

He met up with his padawan for breakfast since he didn't sleep in this morning. 'Good morning master, did you sleep well last night? No nightmares?' she asked with a smile and bubbly energy.

'Sadly no Amara, I didn't sleep much last night but it wasn't because of nightmares, but due to thoughts that dwell on the day.' Jason said with tiredness in his voice.

'What's going on today master? Are we going on a mission somewhere?' She asked with curiosity as she was eating her breakfast.

'No, my padawan, I have an errand to run later today at the spaceport, I shouldn't be gone too long. And before you say anything, yes I am going by myself. Its personal matters that I need to see too.' Jason said looking at his apprentice.

Amara swallowed her food and raised her right hand after seeing the look her master was giving her. 'I promise that I will not follow you to the spaceport master.' She said with a smile on her face as if she was a child. All Jason could do was smile back at her innocence.

They enjoyed their breakfast together like normal and then practiced there unarmed sparring in the training room. Jason's fighting style was more defensive within the order. He always waited for the opponent to make the first move, and he always moved with his opponent like it was a dance. He always sought to disarm the situation first if he could rather than strike down his enemy.

Amara, on the other hand, was his exact opposite. She was the charge in headfirst kind of girl; her hot-headedness usually got her into more trouble than she could remember over the years as a Jedi padawan. She had learned a lot since she became Jason's padawan learner, about the force and how its uses can improve the lives of everybody and we should strive to further our knowledge about it. She learned how to fight from him, lightsabers, unarmed combat, and several different weapons and situational forms depending on the situation.

The one thing she has yet to learn though was patience. Amara was born to a noble family on Onderon where she was raised with someone waiting on her hand and foot for the first nine years of her life. Then one day a Jedi came to her planet. To the surprise of everyone, he came for her, so that she could be trained in the ways of the force and become a Jedi one day. Her family was reluctant sending her away with the Jedi at first. But they eventually allowed it, letting her go so she could see the galaxy and grow strong as a person.

When Amara came to the Jedi Academy, she was put into the older kids initiate class. She excelled at everything, showed the most promise out of her class. When she was thirteen she graduated out of her initiates' class and became the padawan to a newly graduated Jedi knight. She was with him for only 4 months, until he requested that he no longer be her master, stating the reason that he couldn't train her, that she was too aggressive and short tempered.

Over her first year as a padawan, she had a few other masters. They all said the same thing, saying that she wasn't trainable and could never be a Jedi, no matter her potential in the force. She almost left the Jedi order to return home when the council assigned her to Master Jason. She was hesitant about becoming his padawan at first because she didn't want to be reassigned again.

When they first met, she was quiet and not much for doing anything over the top in fear of getting rejected again. But as time went on, even after she started acting like herself again, he never once asked to not be her master to the council. Ever since then, they have been a top-notch master and padawan team.

After they had trained a couple of hours, they left the training room and went to their respective rooms to clean up after getting sweaty from the training session. When Jason got back to his room, he went to shower to get the stink and clamminess of the sweat off of him and contemplated his meeting with Master Pall later on that day. It was obvious that the meeting was going to be about his viewpoints. Especially about Pall's teachings and the councils' view on his teachings, but what was he going to say to him? He showered in silence for a while.

After he got cleaned up, he met up with Amara in the library to continue her studies about the ever-growing galaxy, star charts, different animals and species, and everything else in between. They both studied for a couple of hours before taking a break for lunch. Amara left for the cafeteria and Jason left for the port.

Jason took a speeder from the hangar from the academy and drove through the grasslands towards the city spaceport. The ride there was quite relaxing, with the wind blowing through his hair and in his face. The weather was nice outside, with clear skies and the temperature was just right too.

Jason arrived in the city and made his way to the spaceports cantina. He did his best to be discreet as to not draw any attention toward him. He arrived at the cantina and took notice of the whole place, taking note of everyone in there and anything else that may be out of place. After scanning the room, he noticed Master Pall sitting in the back corner booth. He walked over to where Pall was and took a seat in the booth with him.

'I'm glad you could join me, Master Jason.' Pall said as Jason took his seat in the booth. 'Can I offer to buy you a drink?' He asked as he was already motioning for the waitress to come over.

'Sure, I will have the same as you Master Pall.'

'Jason please, you can call me Ajunta. Both of us have been in the order together for a while now, no need for formalities between peers here.' Pall said with a sincere smile on his face.

'What will you gentlemen be having today?' The waitress asked when she arrived at the table.

'Two Juma Juices please milady.' Pall answered her and passed her a credit chip. 'And keep the tab open will you.'

'Sure thing doll face.' The waitress said as she winked at Pall and left to go get their order.

'Jason, I asked you here because I want to know where you stand on the matter of the councils' decision. If it comes to a fight whose side will you be on?' Pall asked with concerned in his voice.

'Ajunta, I don't support the councils' decisions ever, but that's also because they don't support me or my ways of thinking.' Jason said with a small smile on his face. They both quit talking as the waitress returned with their drinks and left them alone.

'So does that mean you are on my side, Jason? Will you fight with me if it comes to it because I'd rather you have my back rather you at my throat.'

'Worried I might beat you in combat Ajunta?' Jason smiled as he took a sip of his drink.

'Look, Jason, I don't want to fight the order or you. I just want to know that if something happens, if the order splits, will you stand aside if you don't join me, so that we can leave?' Ajunta asked with some worry in his voice.

'I don't want bloodshed just as much as you, but to be honest, I don't see any way around this unless you either quit pushing for your teachings, or you surrender yourself to the order. And I don't see you doing any of those, and I don't see the order allowing you go on if you leave either.' Jason said all this knowing full well what was going to happen when Pall and his followers left the order.

'Ajunta, I will do what I can to help you, but I can't promise this will be easy or clean. You must let your followers know that tonight you are leaving the order. You will go somewhere and hide far away from this planet, and there you can live the way you want too.' Jason said all this knowing full well that tonight there would be bloodshed.

Ajunta nodded to what Jason said to him, and they finished their drinks and departed at different times to be discreet about their meeting. Jason left the cantina to walk about the spaceport to look around and think about everything that could and would happen tonight. He walked around the spaceport and city for about an hour before returning to the academy.

When he returned to the academy, he messaged Amara to meet him in the meditation gardens. He waited around till she showed up.

'Greetings master, how was your trip to the spaceport?' She asked with a bubbly smile.

'Amara, I have something important that I need to tell you. Let's take a walk shall we.' Jason said as he ushered for her to come to his side as he began to walk through the garden.

'Amara, tonight master Pall, and his followers are going to leave the Jedi order, and I have chosen to go with them. Will you follow me, Amara? Because if you do, you won't be able to go back to the Jedi Order and you will be wanted by the Republic as a traitor.'

Amara remained silent, contemplating what her master just asked her. 'You want me to leave the Jedi, with you master?' She asked with worry in her voice, thinking about everything that could happen if this happens.

'Yes, Amara, come with me. Your training isn't yet fully complete, and I would feel better knowing that you are by my side, rather than against me because it's easier to protect you that way' Jason said looking onto Amara with compassion in his eyes.

Amara stared back into his eyes and she could see the emotion in his eyes. His sincerity and compassion that she could feel coming from him felt warm to her. 'Yes master, I will follow you.' She walked forward to hug him, and he hugged her back. They embraced for just a brief moment then she stepped back from him.

'What is the plan for tonight master?' Amara said with concern in her voice fearing the worse of what could happen.

'As for now my padawan, go about the day as normal. Once I know more, I will let you know. Keep your mind clear of this, lest we want unwanted attention from any of those that would let slip our plans.'

Amara nodded understanding her masters' orders, bowed to him and took her leave from him to go about her day like she normally would. Jason watched as his padawan left the gardens. 'Now who should I slip the information too, to make sure that this war happens as it should?' he whispered to himself.
