It was early in the morning when Jason woke up. He scanned the room like usual, always making sure everything was the same as it was when he sent to sleep. His padawan was still sound asleep in the sleeping bag next to him. He walked outside the hut and took a deep breath of the brisk morning air. The sun was just barely peaking over the horizon from where they were. It was quiet, none of the miners were out yet, and nobody else was up currently.

He decided to go ahead to the cave first before bringing everybody else with him. When he got to the cave, he could feel a strong presence through the force inside the cave. He walked in cautiously not sure of who or what was in the cave. After walking through the cave all the way to the back, he couldn't find anybody inside that would be giving off this presence, until he noticed a crystal had caught his eye and sort of called out to him. This crystal had absorbed some of his residual force energy from yesterday and bonded with him. He decided to extract the crystal and take it for himself. The color of the crystal was very different from the others here. It had a gradient palette of purples and oranges that made it look like a purple sunset.

After he extracted the crystal, he pocketed it and left to go back to the camp. When he got there, everybody was up and about now. The miners were working, and the Jedi were doing there normal morning rituals as they had always done. Jason went to the cafeteria to get some food before having to make that trip back out to the cave. When he got to the cafeteria, he saw Amara sitting in the back where they sat yesterday. She noticed him and waved at him, and he returned the wave, then proceeded to get his breakfast then sat down with his padawan.

"Good morning master. Where did you go this morning?" she asked curiously.

"Good morning to you as well, and I went for a hike this morning" he said as he started eating

"Where did you go hiking to master?" she asked curiously again waiting to hear what he had to say like a child.

Jason ate a few more bites of his food, and then drink some water to wash it down before finally answering her. "I went to the cave with all the crystals that I found yesterday. I wanted to scout it out to make sure that it wasn't some creatures nest or anything before I took everybody up there" he said as he continued eating his breakfast.

"Why didn't you wake me up master? I could have gone with you" Amara said pouting about it.

"You looked so nice and warm this morning, and you were drooling too." Jason said teasing her.

"I, I wasn't drooling master! You shouldn't say such lies you know." Amara said being embarrassed about it.

They remained there until Jason had finished his meal and they left the cafeteria together. When they got outside, they were approached by Pall, Muur, XoXaan and some miners. "Ah, Jason, are you ready to show us to this cave of yours" Ajunta Pall said warmly.

"Right this way Master Pall" Jason said nodding to them and motioning for them to follow him.

Jason had taken them to the caves, where Pall and the others were amazed by it. The force energy was strong in here just as Jason had described it.

"This is wonderful Jason" Pall had exclaimed.

"Yes, these may prove to be very useful in alchemic properties" XoXaan said thinking of the different uses they could do.

"Yes, I would agree Master XoXaan. By combining these crystals with an object, and imbuing it with the force, we could create powerful force objects as well" Muur said thinking about his own d.e.s.i.r.es.

Jason could see the dark side of the force swirling around them, there fall had already begun. Jason was scared for himself, knowing that he would become like them at any moment. He knew that he needed an anchor to the light side to keep him in balance, and he decided that for now, that responsibility should fall onto Amara's shoulders.

After inspecting the crystal cave, the miners began harvesting the crystals from it. It took two whole days for the miners to excavate all of them. After they were refined down to be able to fit into the proto sabers, each of the followers received one, and the rest were going to be used for creating the dark spawn army.

XoXaan had taken a couple of extra and fashioned one of them into a necklace and the other she had socketed into her gauntlet to act as a focal point of channeling the force for when she used her healing techniques. Muur had taken his and inserted it into a talisman that resembled a scorpion. Remulus Dreypa put his into a pendant that hung around his neck. And Sorzus Syn fashioned one into a necklace as well.

It was a week later when all the preparations had been made to start turning the miners into there army. The ritual would be tonight when the full moon would be at its highest. When Jason had heard the news about the ritual, he immediately went to find Amara. Not long after, he found Amara training with some of the other padawans.

"Amara come take a walk with me" he called out to her.

"Coming master. See you guys later" she said waving to her friends as she ran over to her master. "Is everything okay master?"

"Yeah, everything is fine Amara. Just something I wanted to talk to you about." Jason said as they started to walk off from the quarry and camp. After Jason thought they were far enough away, and nobody was around they sat down to talk.

"Tonight, is the night they plan on preforming the ritual to turn the miners into dark side spawn. Pall want's all the masters there to help with the ritual, so I must be there. Amara, like I told you yesterday, I am susceptible to the lure of the dark side of the force. If I am to come out on top of this, I'm going to need you to help me Amara. Do you think you can handle it?" Jason said as serious as he could to his padawan.

Amara just stared into his eyes seeing the truth and pain in his eyes. She nodded showing him that she understood. Jason smiled at her for her innocence and devotion to him. She truly admired and adorned him, and it brought him sorrow knowing what his future held for him.

"Okay, first off there is a few things I'm going to need you to do for me. First, after the ritual tonight, I'm sure that all the masters will fall to the dark side of the force, something Pall is fully aware of and will be taking full advantage of as well. Now if I fall, you are going to have to do your best to bring back to the light, do you understand. By any means, even if you must restrain me and invade my mind to do so."

"The second thing Amara, and this one is very important. I need you to hide this, even from me. And you must make sure no one finds it. And when we go to leave this planet, you must get this and bring it with you and continue to hide it from me." Jason said as he pulled out of his robes a small two-foot case that contained the Mortis Blade. "If I ever fall to the dark side, I may be tempted to use what is in here and that cannot happen right now, do you understand me Amara" Jason said as if he was worried about handing this over to her.

"Yes master, I understand, and I will not fail you" She said as she took the box from him.

"I'm honored that you trust me with all this stuff master, sincerely I am master" she said as she stared into his eyes.

He stared back at her, and then took her into a hug showing his appreciation to his padawan. She hugged him back feeling his warmth go across her body. They returned to camp after they had talked about there plan for tonight. Jason left to go to a masters meeting about tonight and Amara left to go take care of the box that her master had entrusted her with.

Hours had passed, and it was now time for them to preform the ritual. Jason gave Amara a hug before leaving telling her that everything was going to be okay. Jason arrived at the ritual site that they decided on from the meeting earlier that day. It was at a clearing in the middle of the woods where the moon shined brightly down on the grove. It looked like something out of a fairy tale setting.

Ajunta Pall stood in the center of the grove on top of a stone table, surrounded by the Ruusan crystals they harvested from the cave. Kneeling around the stone table was XoXaan, Muur, Dreypa, and Syn. Around them were the miners, and then the rest of the masters to complete the outer circle of the ritual.

Pall began to chant in tongues beginning the ritual, with the rest of us chanting in harmony with him. The dark side of the force started flowing through them, and into the crystals at Pall's feet, and they started glowing a blackish red color as the dark side seeped into them. Then arcs of red lightning started jumping off the crystals into the miners, warping and mutating them. Imbuing them with supernatural strength and speed. They all began changing in size and appearance, and their connection to the force grew in strength as the power poured into them, corrupting them.

The power was also flowing back into the masters, filling them with hatred and anger for those that followed the light side. They started to grow in power as well, and Jason could feel it in him as well. He tried to resist the influence of the dark side, but because of his already corrupted soul due to the drop of water from the Font of Power, it was difficult for him to resist it. It made the power in him wilder, uncontrollable.

The ritual only lasted thirty minutes, but it accomplished so much. The miners had become creatures mutated by the dark side of the force. They no longer resembled their human selves anymore, but more demon like. As for the Jedi, they had become tainted by the lure of the dark side of the force. Jason could feel it in the air, this place was now a dark side dwelling. Soon this forest become corrupted and warped just like the miners were. Jason knew that he had to get to Amara as soon as he could before he lost control of himself.

Ajunta Pall had become exhausted after preforming the ritual and was assisted by XoXaan and Dreypa off the stone table. Jason could see the ritual had done more them than it had the rest of the masters that were here. Maybe that was there plan to begin with Jason had thought to himself. Pall instructed the masters to herd the warriors to the holding area that they had prepared in the quarry. After they had got the creatures into the holding area, Jason had left to go to his hut, where Amara was waiting for him.
