Golden Agent of the Adonis (10)

The Director of the Public Relations Department said, “I called the HR department and asked them to go through the procedures as soon as possible, but it’s just a matter of time before this matter is exposed to the public. The most important thing now is to remove the news from the trending search, but now that Chen Lifeng and Zhou Yuan’s fans are very concerned about this matter, it would only start trending again even if we were to take it down. Hence, we have to find a good solution.”

The Director of the Marketing Department said, “Chen Lifeng has been named the best actor and his commercial value has greatly increased. It is not clear whether the recent exposure of his relationship will be beneficial or harmful to him and there’s also the issue between you and him. If we don’t handle this properly, it may make his career flop depending on how this affects him. Chu Xiang, my suggestion is, whether it is true or not, the company will issue a statement, stating that it was a rumor. As for you, take some days off to take care of your health. Since you work behind the scenes, you don’t have to care about what the netizens say. Once the situation simmers down in a couple of days, you can continue coming to work.”

Chu Xiang laughed, “In this case, my reputation in the industry will definitely be affected and netizens will have a bad impression of me. If anyone were to work with me in the future,  it would not be easy for those artists to get along with others in the entertainment industry. Would that not be harmful? Though if you have me resign…Everyone, although Chen Lifeng is making money for the company, I am also making money for the company since I single-handedly pushed him towards the skies. If everyone wouldn’t mind working hard in helping me settle the issue and maintain my reputation, I would be most grateful. Who’s to say that the next person I work with and popularize wouldn’t bring benefits to the company? A win-win situation is the best.”

A win-win situation was of course the best, but Chu Xiang was not a Golden Agent. She only had Chen Lifeng and a female artist under her command. Nevertheless, as she was too dedicated to Chen Lifeng, the female artist thought that the favoritism was unfair and changed her agent long ago. She still remained unpopular even to this day. In fact, Chu Xiang didn’t have ground-breaking methods to achieve the artist’s success; perhaps Chen Lifeng became popular due to his own efforts.

However, it was hard for a few people to say these words, they just expressed that it was difficult to deal with.

Chu Xiang felt that the groundwork was almost set, at least sufficient to the point where the company would not have to sacrifice her for Chen Lifeng’s sake. Therefore, she shared the solution she had thought of.

“We can have Chen Lifeng issue a statement, saying that the black material on the Internet is merely nonsense as he and I are just colleagues and friends. Switching agents was also a normal process in working, and there was no special reason for it. Also, he could express his affection by saying that finding Zhou Yuan was destined by fate and he hoped that everyone would live happily or something of the sort. Then, the company can step in to clarify that the news circulating on the net are just rumors, claiming that anyone who continues spreading baseless accusations will be held accountable. As for me, I will give my blessings and be happy about their relationship— and with that, the matter will be over. From the beginning to the end, you can say that no one was really in the wrong and it was just netizens that were stirring things up. Wouldn’t that be easy enough to deal with?”

It was no simple task to clarify everything in the entertainment industry. The Director of the Public Relations Department twitched her mouth after hearing Chu Xiang’s words, feeling that it was impossible for Chen Lifeng to make such a statement.

Sure enough, after she contacted Chen Lifeng, he obliquely refused to issue a statement. The hidden meaning of his actions was that he assumed that Chu Xiang was still obsessed over him and didn’t want to let him go. If he were to make a statement at this time and something was to happen in the future, his fans would think that he deceived them, which would be unfavorable towards his career.

Naturally, Chu Xiang knew that he wouldn’t agree, but by bringing it up, everyone could see how Chen Lifeng was refusing to cooperate regardless of the interests of the company, couldn’t they? Even though he was able to handle this matter swiftly just like that, he remained unwilling. No matter what happened between the two, Chu Xiang still remained his companion who accompanied him from his early days to him being a first-line actor!

Now that this matter had changed from ‘Chu Xiang causing trouble’ to ‘Chen Lifeng was not cooperating’ the people in the company have unconsciously changed their perception towards the two of them. This train of thought was very subconscious as they didn’t even realize that they were being led by Chu Xiang.

They told Chu Xiang that Chen Lifeng refused to post his statement, thinking that Chu Xiang would at least complain or berate him. But Chu Xiang just kept silent for a while and stopped mentioning this matter. Instead, she thought of another way, which made them feel somewhat pitiful for her since she was working so hard to clean up this issue. If Chen Lifeng didn’t speak up, wasn’t he acquiescing to the nonsensical, black material? This is simply trampling Chu Xiang’s reputation into the mud. It would have been alright if the rumors were true, but upon seeing her behavior, it didn’t seem like it was real.

Compassion was a good thing and Chu Xiang had earned it. She proposed several methods— some were rejected by the Marketing Department, some were rejected by the Public Relations Department and some were rejected by the Advertising Department.
