Golden Agent of the Adonis (33)

Fang Zhenxuan handed her a glass of warm water and asked, “All those phone calls that you’ve made were done just to obtain resources?”

Chu Xiang drank a few sips of water. Feeling the warmth spread in her stomach, she said, “Although we are on the cusp of the storm and you aren’t well-known yet, there’s always one or two companies that are willing to cooperate. Some might not enjoy the prospect of hiring a newbie whereas others might need someone to fill in; either way, the opportunity is there, so we might as well grab it quickly.”

She drank a few more sips of water before she glanced at her phone, sporting a half-smile, “Also, it’s a good time to know who belongs in my true circle of connections. From here, I can see if the ones who usually remain friendly with me are demons in disguise while determining who my real and fake friends are. Plus, I can use this chance to sort out who are my good friends and who remain as mere acquaintances. After this time, my circle of friends will be stronger. As for those who aren’t worthy to even maintain eye-level with me, I’ll let them flounder around for the sake of their reputation but maintain a professional distance with them.”

Fang Zhenxuan gave a thumbs up silently, “I guess that no one will believe that you, an agent who was knocked down into the abyss, actually got so many benefits,” He glanced at Chu Xiang and asked seriously, “Are you truly not sad anymore? The state I saw you in yesterday… I mean, don’t you think you’re a bit too rational now?”

Chu Xiang blinked, “The me you saw yesterday was not the real me; the me I am now is my truest form. Would you believe me if I said that I was just mourning the loss of my youth yesterday?”

“You’re asking me if I believe you? Well, I have no idea who was the person that sobbed so painfully in the stairwell before intoxicating themselves to the point of near death,” Fang Zhenxuan gave her a smug look.

Chu Xiang straightened up and patted him on the head, “I couldn’t tell before, but apparently, you seem to be rather naughty, don’t you? Forget about all that or I’ll kill someone to silence you— slit.”

Chu Xiang ran her thumb in a straight line before her throat, gesturing a neck-slice, before she pushed him away, “Anyways, get my laptop quickly. I’m going to edit the pictures for a bit and then, it will be your time to shine.”

“You can edit pictures as well?”

“Why wouldn’t I know how to? After a while, you will realise that I’m simply a treasure.”

Fang Zhenxuan smiled and took the laptop for her. Once he closed the bedroom door, he handed her the gadget and said, “Here you go, treasure woman, hurriedly show me your skills and make me even more handsome.”

“You’re actually discreetly praising yourself for your looks, you thick-skinned brat. Go practice your acting skills!” Chu Xiang uploaded the photos to the laptop and let her phone screen go on and off as it rang. However, she didn’t care to answer any calls as she concentrated on editing the few photos that she wanted to publicize.

She had already mentioned in the small group of six that she had suffered a huge loss this time. Since Chen Lifeng was the root of the problem, she should be compensated no matter what. When he was clutching onto her before, she even swallowed her anger and gave him all the resources she found. At most, she was merely taking them back now, so it wasn’t considered overbearing. As long as he was willing to agree, she could provide her cooperation immediately.

To the other workers, her attitude was very sincere and she was also very willing to cooperate with the PR team, but no one could silence themselves if they were to encounter such a situation. She had already been very tolerant to Chen Lifeng before, so if she jumped out without hesitation to clear the matter now that it reached this stage, that would be selling herself short.

It just so happened that the co-workers in the group chat were either colleagues who had experienced a similar situation or people who knew of Chen Lifeng’s attitude. In fact, they also found out that Chen Lifeng had called Chu Xiang to cooperate with him to clarify the matter. With his bossy attitude, they felt like he quite deserved the backlash. Besides, Chu Xiang said that as long as he was willing to give her the resources she wanted, she would cooperate immediately; if he wasn’t going to do so, then this matter is going to be his problem alone.

Who did he think he was to desire all sorts of benefits without giving up something in exchange for them? Since it was Chen Lifeng who took things for granted, it was natural that Chu Xiang was not to blame for this matter and her insistence was also reasonable. With everything playing out as it was, the people in the company really wondered if Chu Xian was greened(1).

(T/N: Another way of saying, “xxx is wearing a green hat”. The term of wearing a green hat means that someone is cheating on their partner)

The situation on the Internet was progressively getting worse and the only ones who continued their blatant attacks on Chu Xiang were the loyal fans of Chen Lifeng and Zhou Yuan. Even Li Ou didn’t dare to have the Internet Water Army manipulate the comments against Chu Xiang again. Since Chu Xiang had already obtained the ‘hearts of the people’, verbally insulting her now would only bring them more backlash than good.

Besides, as soon as the Water Army retreated, the people who were scolding Chen Lifeng and Zhou Yuan immediately became prominent. Zhou Yuan has already posted an official lawyer’s letter, stating that she and Chen Lifeng were in an open relationship, so they were considered single even though they took the other as a romantic interest. If anyone was going to slander or criticize them from then on, she announced that she would take the necessary legal actions.
