Return Of Aegis

Chapter 31 - Nidhogg (Part 1)

"Everyone ready? Here it comes! GUILD RECALL!" shouted ZeRen, whilst activating the guild summoning skill.

[System Notification: Do you accept your guild leader's summoning? YES/NO]

Everyone received the message in front of them. Naturally five of them responded as planned.

However, ZeLin was shocked to see that even he was counted in the summoning. In total the summoning would cost 203 silver. For most guilds at this stage, that would be a sizable sum and not to be used recklessly. But for Yggdrasil, it was close to pocket change at 2G 3S.

With a flash of bright yellow light, motes of light swirled as they formed up the summoned members.

Nanthan, Gravity Mage - Level 32

WeiChiang, Combat Butler - Level 30

Richard, Necromancer - Level 32

Silvia, Shadow Assassin - Level 33

Galahad, Dragon Knight - Level 34

"Welcome everyone, this may or may not be our first rodeo, but I'm sure you're familiar with my brother and I," welcomed ZeRen.

"Everyone take these HP & MP potions, Sim made them for us," WeiChiang nodded as he passed around the potions from his storage.

"Do anyone of you have party buff spells?" ZeLin asked.

"I do, but after I use, for the duration I won't be of any use and would not be able to protect myself," replied WeiChiang as he shared a screenshot of his weapon skill.

{Encouragement} provides party members with a buff to caster's main stat (INT) for 99 seconds. While {Encouragement} active, caster's stats are all reduced to 1.

"No worries, I have a skill {Shadow Meld} that can protect the both of us for 114 seconds, ample time for your {Encouragement} to be active." replied Silvia.

"Great, both of you support each other, the rest of us have to figure out how to handle this boss." said ZeRen.

During times like this, ZeLin fully agreed to let ZeRen take charge, he was a careful planner and always proceeded with caution. ZeLin didn't trust himself to lead, back in the previous edition of the game, he mainly used zerg rush tactics, overcoming most obstacles with a sheer force, outnumbering their opponents.

Dark Empire had many players who could summon hundreds of familiars or creatures, essentially being a one-man army. Holy Empire on the other hand, focused on precision and strategy, but when the strongest shield met the strongest spear, they tended to cancel each other out and end up tying.

Other light guilds trembled when Dark Empire came to guild wars, all though guild wars were limited to 100 members, facing Dark Empire's zerg 100 was like facing an army of millions; with an almost infinite amount of summons, most would get overwhelmed and lose.

To counter this, Holy Empire's strategy was to take out the summoners by isolating and killing; at range or up close. To wars with other dark guilds, Holy Empire rarely had to fill up all 100 slots. It wasn't that they looked down on their opponents, they just didn't need so many people.

So in times like now, for World Boss fight, ZeRen was much suited to lead.

"Anyone else have anything to add?" asked ZeRen.

"Over 'ere, I have something to add!" came a voice from atop a rock.

"Feast your eyes on this spell!" {Eruption} Utilizes casters total MP for an all out attack.

"With WeiChiang's buff, Sim's MP pots, this baby will hurt extremely much!" said the shortest dwarf ZeLin had ever seen. ZeLin as a dwarf himself was already considered short, but this dude was even shorter. The staff in his hands almost double his height, he looked like a child carrying a broom.

"Nanthan, Gravity Mage at your service, this cursed thing has some serious firepower," pointing at the branch stuck to his hand as he waved it about as though trying to release it.

"Nathan, why in Eitri's name are you so effing short? Aren't all dwarves a standard height?" exclaimed ZeLin.

"Fek off! Do you want me to blast your a.s.s into oblivion?" threatened Nanthan.

"Shut up the both of you! Here's the strategy, among us, Galahad, you have the longest hp and highest DEF. You will attract its agro and keep it busy, Silvia you stay and cover WeiChiang, WeiChiang let us know when you cast {Encouragement}, both of you hang back. I will provide cover fire where needed, physical attacks are halved on this thing, so ZeLin and I have our hands tied. Nanthan you spam your {Eruption} as much as possible, you can have my share of the MP pots, I won't need them. Richard, spam your hordes to irritate and keep it crowd controlled in the valley, don't let it out. Alright, before we set off, let me check again the stats of this thing before we proceed. Any questions?"

"What if we die, do we get compensation?" pipped Nanthan.

"You'll get the end of my …" muttered ZeLin

"This instance dungeon is a bit weird, we will report to devs if we can't settle it, they should compensate us in some way." ZeRen said cutting off ZeLin. "That said the guild will compensate you with guild points or gold."

"Now enough bickering! {Observe}

"Guys the heavens are on our side, it's now more of a battle of attrition than anything!" said ZeRen, sharing the new stats of Nidhogg.

"Don't get careless, that thing still has more HP than all of us combined, 100 times over." cautioned WeiChiang.
