Rise Of House Cason

Chapter 4 - Diagon Alley

Art continued his same routine, going to muggle school, practicing combat with Tim and practicing magic. Muggle school wasn't difficult for him but it he interest in muggle science grew as he started taking physics, chemistry and biology. He had no idea about atoms and how they were an entire word that he couldn't see. His combat with Tim continued as they moved from weapon to weapon, slowly gaining experience. His magic continued to grow as well, mastery spells with wandless magic. He was careful and made sure not to do them in the presence of his parents so the Ministry didn't know about it.

Amelia continued to visit, bringing Susan along when she could. Art told her about meeting the Delacours in France. Amelia told him that they were a powerful family in France and that their grandmother was a Veela, a magical creature close to human intelligence that could drive men crazy with their magic and looks. She warned him about not falling for their magic and he should try and keep a clear mind around them.

Another year came and past, Art was now 11 and was of age to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Amelia said she would take him to get supplies in the summer before school started. Art discovered something about himself during this last year. He was able to feel animals emotions and after some practice, he was able to share emotions and images with them. This shocked him greatly and tried to find something about it in the books Amelia brought for him but found nothing similar. He decided to keep this a secret until he could discover more about it.

When summer came around, the Sullivans went back to France to see Bella's parents who seemed to have warmed up to Art after learning his parents were English nobility, though they still shunned TIm. He met Fleur and Gabrielle again and Bella allowed him to go over to their house for the day. After going through a few wards, Art stood in front of a huge french style mansion, with large grounds and garden. A few magical beasts could be said grazing around, such as the unicorn Fleur got in trouble last year with.

The unicorn slowly approached them, it's beautiful snow white coat shone in the sunlight. "Be careful Art, unicorns only let women touch them and will attack men who try." Fleur warned, trying to shield Art from the unicorn.

Art moved past her and tried to send calming emotions towards the unicorn who looked at Art curiously. Art slowly approached it, having his hand out. The unicorn gave a slight neigh and trotted the ground. Fleur was sweating as she saw Art get closer and the unicorn got more anxious. When Art was a couple of centimeters away from the unicorns head he took the last step and placed his hand on its head. Fleur and Gabrielle both gasped, expecting the unicorn to attack him but both were surprised when the unicorn stood perfectly still.

Making that physical connection, Art was able understand its thoughts and emotions perfectly. Letting out a light chuckle he sent his thoughts to the unicorn, reassuring it that he met no harm. Artland scratched the unicorn's head before walking towards the mansion, leaving Fleur and Gabrielle standing there stunned. Snapping out of their stunned state, Fleur gave a curious glance at Artland while Gabrielle's eyes shone with worship as she quickly chased him as fast as he tiny legs could move.

Art spent the rest of the day with the Delacours. Art almost started drooling when he saw their huge library, causing Fleur and Mrs. Delacour to giggle at his expression. They showed him a few family heirlooms which he nodded impressed with the goblin made artifacts. Artland enjoyed the day, talking with Fleur with how they both started school this year and how they were excited. Art left later that day, thanking Mr and Mrs. Delacour and waving bye to Fleur and Gabrielle, Art left the mansion.

The summer went by slow due to Artland's excitement for school to start. His practice of spells and magic continued, slowly getting better at wandless magic. Tim also starting giving him books about battlefield strategies and great leaders in history which Art hungrily read. This didn't mean his comat training stopped, Tim pushed him harder and harder leaving Art sore and exhausted most days. Soon his letter from Hogwarts came, making it official that he would be attending school there.

The Sullivans looked at the letter with wonder and curiosity, as they still fully didn't believe that a magical society existed under their noses. Amelia stopped by without Susan to take Artland to buy supplies at Diagon Alley. Outside was a black unmarked car that the Ministry let Amelia use. Getting into the vehicle, Art and Amelia drove towards London.

Amelia passed Art a tiny bag, no bigger than the size of his hand. "This is a gift from me." she smiled. "It has an Extension Charm so you can fight all of your books, robes and money in it."

Art looked it over, it looked normal from the outside but he knew that the Extension Charm was a high level charm that was closely watched by the Ministry.

"Thank you." Art said emotionally. Artland knew she felt terrible for not being there for his parents and Art himself and she had tried to make amends and take care of Art the best she could.

A caring smile appeared on her usually stoic face. "I have already withdrew out some money for you for supplies and school." she told him.

Art opened up the bag and saw it was filled with gold Galleons, silver Sickles and bronze Knuts. The rest of the trip went by quietly as Art enjoyed the ride.

Soon they arrived somewhere in London, Amelia parked the car and got out with Art following closely behind. They walked into a tiny, grubby looking pub called the Leaky Cauldron. The bar was mostly empty with a few witches and wizards sitting in the corner.

The bartender tipped his hat towards Amelia saying, "Madam Bones."

Amelia ignored him and walked through the bar and out the back with Art closely following her. The bartender squinted at Art, trying to figure out who he was. Outside the bar was a large brick wall. Taking out her wand she tapped a brick and the wall seemed to fold in on itself. A large whole appeared which she stepped through, closely followed by Art.

Walking through the hole, Art was overwhelmed by what he saw. Countless shops lined the street with wizards and witches filling the street. Amelia gave a small smirk at Art's expression.

"Let's get your books first." Amelia said, handing him a list of books he needed for his first year.

The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1 by Miranda Goshawk

A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot

Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling

One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi by Phyllida Spore

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander

Art entered the store called Flourish and Botts where books were stacked to the ceiling, Art felt it was the most beautiful place he had seen.

A woman came over and asked, "Hogwarts first year?"

Art nodded and she went to grab his books for him while he browsed through some books. He bought some advanced books on Transfiguration, Charms, and Curses against the advice from Amelia. After paying for the books, they went and bought his robes, cauldron and other school supplies.

Art was standing outside of Magical Menagerie, seeing all different kinds of owls and other birds in the window. Amelia was busy with Ministry business and told him to buy an owl and a wand and then meet her at the Leaky Cauldron. Art entered the building which was stinky, loud and cramped. Cages were everywhere, each had a creature in it, most magical.

Art was a little overwhelmed with all the emotions he was feeling from the creatures. He tried to block out the majority of them and focused on only a few he was interested. After looking at a snowy owl, a cage in the corner caught Artland's eye. A beautiful white Gyrfalcon with black markings on its wings sat in a cage and looked at Artland, intelligence sparkled in its eyes. Focusing his attention on the gyrfalcon, Art felt longing, longing to fly high and fast in the sky. Art smiled and set the gyrfalcon an image of the bird flying in the air. The bird looked at Art before giving a loud call before beating its wings.

Art laughed and grabbed the cage before bringing it up to the front counter. A friendly witch with messy hair smiled at him. "Great choice young man. This gyrfalcon is very intelligent and a good flyer, never missed a delivery during training."

Art smiled and named him Gray, also buying him lots of mice and other tasty snacks.
