Rise Of House Cason

Chapter 82 - Goblet of Fire

Art laughed loudly as a small girl in pale blue robes dove into his arms. He gave her a big hug and lifted her into the air, spinning her.

"Gabrielle!" Art exclaimed, missing the lovable girl.

"She is a bit young, don't you think?" Fred whispered to George.

Art now realized he was the center of attention and rubbed his nose shyly. He looked at the other Beauxbatons students. Around a dozen boys and girls came with Madame Maxime. Art soon found Fleur, looking at him shyly.

He walked up to her and took off his outer coat before wrapping it around her shoulders.

"The weather is a bit colder here than France." he said sweetly, pulling her into his arms.

Fleur was quiet as a kitten and snuggled into Art's arms, she whispered, "I missed you."

"I missed you too." he said quietly.

The sweet moment was ruined when a Beauxbaton student yelled at Art, "How dare you touch her!"

Madame Maxime also looked displeased as she walked up to Art and Fleur.

"Fleur, who is this?" she asked in french.

"Artland Cason, Madame Maxime. It is an honour to meet you, Fleur has told me much about you." he answered for her in fluent French.

Maxime was quite shocked and inspected Art a little closer. "Your french is very good, did Fleur teach you?"

"No ma'am. My mother is french and taught me." Art said with a smile, showing off his brilliant smile. He then put on a serious face, "I apologize for interrupting ma'am, I haven't seen Fleur for over a year and I let my emotions get the better of me."

He gave Fleur's hand a tight squeeze before walking back to his friends, leaving his coat with Fleur. Madame Maxime watched him walk away before wrapping her giant hand around Fleur and introducing her to Dumbledore. Gabrielle stuck her tongue out at him before following the rest of the Beauxbaton students.

The males for Beauxbaton glared viciously at Art and some even made threatening gestures. Art didn't mind them and watched Fleur walk away.

"You bastard! How did you manage to get such a beautiful french girl!?" Fred almost yelled, causing many students to look at him.

Art rolled his eyes and ignored him. Soon another person yelled and everyone turned towards the lake where a giant ghost looking ship appeared. Soon a line of burly looking students unboarded the ship and heading towards the castle. Soon a couple dozen students wearing some sort of animal fur as coats came into everyone's view.

A man wearing a silver fur coat, matching his hair soon called out, "Dumbledore! How are you, my dear fellow? How are you?"

"Blooming, thank you, Professor Karkaroff." Dumbledore replied with a smile.

Karkaroff was a thin and tall man that had a beard that curled up. Art looked him over before focusing on the students. His eyes focused on one man with a surly look on his face.

"Art! That's Victor Krum! The Bulgarian Seeker!" George half yelled in his ear.

Soon they entered the Great Hall where, to Art's disappointment, Beauxbatons were sitting at the Ravenclaw table. They looked miserable as they were shivering and wrapping themselves in scarves. Art picked out Fleur easily who was still wearing his coat.

Art waved at her, making her blush and wave back. Art was met with glares from men from both schools. Sitting down, he looked at the head table where Karkaroff and Maxime had joined. He also noticed two empty chairs at the table.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, ghosts- most particularly guests." Dumbledore said, beaming at the foreign students. "I have p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e in welcoming you all to Hogwarts. I hope and trust your stay here will be both comfortable and enjoyable."

Soon food filled the table and everyone became a bit happier and started eating. Fleur soon walked up to the Gryffindor table and came over to Art.

Art gave her a big smile and asked in french, "Can I help you my lady?"

"Just wondering if you are done with the Bouillabaisse." she said with a sly look, not even offering to return his coat.

"Of course." Art said, handing her a plate.

"Thank you." she said sweetly before returning to her seat.

Art saw Ron drooling at Fleur and said, "Hands off Weasley, she is taken."

Ron immediately turned purple and looked away causing Fred and George to howl with laughter. Art chuckled as well, turning to his meal. He was soon interrupted when he felt someone poking his shoulder.

Turning around he saw Gabrielle with red cheeks, looking cute.

"Yes, Mademoiselle Gabrielle?" Art said with a smile.

"I'm cold." she complained, rubbing her arms.

Art shook his head and produced a coat from his bag, wrapping it around her shoulders. The coat looked comical on her as it was much too large for her. Art took out his wand and adjusted it, making it fit better.

"Thank you!" she said cheerfully, skipping away.

Soon you could see other students, mostly male, offering their coats to the girls from Beauxbatons.

Soon the two empty chairs were filled with Ludo Bagman, Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports, and Bartemius Crouch, Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation, big wigs in the Ministry.

Soon the plates were cleared and Dumbledore stood up, silencing everyone.

"The moment has come. The Triwizard is about to start. I would like to say a few words of explanation before we bring in the casket just to clarify the procedure which we will be following this year. But firstly, let me introduce, for those who don't know them, Mr. Bartemius Crouch, Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation and Ludo Bagman, Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports."

The school applauded loudly for Bagman, as he was a famous Beater.

Dumbledore continued, "Mr. Bagman and Mr. Crouch have worked tirelessly over the last few months on the arrangements for the Triwizard Tournament and they will be joining myself, Professor Karkaroff and Madame Maxime on the panel which will judge the champions efforts."

Soon a large wooden casket was carried out and placed in the middle of the hall.

"There will be three tasks, spaced throughout the school year, and they will test the champions in many ways… their magical prowess- their daring- their powers of deduction- and, of course, their ability to cope with danger." Dumbledore said, his blue eyes sweeping over the entire hall.

"As you know, three champions compete in the Tournament, one from each school. They will be marked on how well they perform each task and the champion with the highest total after task three will win the Triwizard Cup. The champions will be selected by an impartial selector… the Goblet of Fire."

Dumbledore took out his wand and tapped the wooden casket three times. The casket soon fell apart and an unremarkable wooden cup. It would have been unremarkable if it wasn't filled with blue flames.

"Anybody wishing to participate in the tournament must clearly write their name on a parchment and place it in the Goblet of Fire. You have 24 hours to place your name in the Goblet. Tomorrow night, Halloween, the Goblet will decide who is worthy of representing their school. To ensure no underage wizard enters the tournament, I will draw an age line around the Goblet so that no one under the age of 17 can enter."

"An age line, huh?" Fred said, rubbing his chin, already trying to figure out how to beat it.

Art let out a breath of relief, his birthday was tomorrow, barely making the cut.

"I advise you to take caution before entering your name, for if you are chosen, you enter a magically binding contract to see the tournament through." Dumbledore warned before sitting down.

Soon everyone was leaving the Great Hall and Art found himself standing by Harry who let Durmstrang through the door first. Karkaroff stopped and stared at Harry, his eyes eventually making it up to his scar.

"That's right, that is Harry Potter." a growl came from behind them.

Moody looked at Karkaroff with an obvious dislike.

"You should also recognize the boy beside him." Moody said with a sneer.

Karkaroff glanced at Art and looked shocked when he saw the colour of his eyes. He mouthed the word 'Cason' before leaving the hall, allowing everyone to leave.
