Rise Of The Spatial Dragon

Chapter 14 - Alie (1)

It had been a crazy number of days. It all started while he was at the river, getting a drink. Alie was the name his mom had given him, but she'd been killed by some enemy lavels back when his canines had yet to form.

They had come late into the night, smashing and burning everything around them. The little lavel was barely awake before his mother's massive paws roughly grabbed at him and tossed him out of their shelter, which at the moment was on fire, and submerged under a massive burning tree. She couldn't make it out though.

He looked on, helpless, watching as the flames engulfed his mother. He wanted to rush in, but the heat wouldn't let him. However, at that moment he felt something strange, it was as though he could communicate with the flames.

Seeing hope, he used every bit of strength within him to command the flames to disperse, and to his delight, the fire was beginning to diminish. However, the village was still under attack, and a massive club was swung from behind, almost uprooting his head.

When he came to, he was faced with a dreary situation. He, alongside several young lavels were bundled up together and made to walk. There were strange and powerful looking lavels around them, but what caught his attention was a flying being. It had massive wings and was its scales had a purple shade.

This was his first time seeing a vasil. He was overbearing and he seemed to command the lavels in charge. When he noticed a lavel looking at him curiously, he sent a wing swipe that sent the poor child sprawling on the ground.

Three days of walking, and they finally arrived. A large city had been build right next to the Bayu. What was odd about this city was that it was mostly comprised of a market. There were lavels that lived around there, and a few inns and warehouses, but most vasils lived on the Bayu, in a massive cavern they had established.

In this part of the continent, the vasils were the absolute overlords and they lorded over the lavels. There were mercenary groups that worked for the vasils, these groups were mostly slave hunters and slave traders, and the lavels were the top commodity. There were no known cases of a vasil slave, and that would be an abomination.

The lavel was traded and grouped with another group of lavel kids who had been bought. They were all being transported to their final destination. All this time, Alie had not been idle. Although the memory of his mother dying and how she died assaulted him, he could still vaguely remember the feeling he had had previously.

It was as though, the fire was something familiar. It was as though it was sentient, like it could understand him, and indeed obey him. To explain how he felt, imagine if a large surface became like a garment, and to control it, all one had to do was tug at it. Of course, given its side, tugging wasn't so easy, that's why he had failed to control the flames, they simply were too big for him.

The next time he saw fire, instead of shrieking away from it as others had, especially due to the trauma attached to the fire, he had been fascinated. Using all his power and strength, he had tried to summon that feeling of controlling fire, but to no avail. He even wondered if he had imagined it. What he didn't know was that his awakening process had been interrupted, and hence he needed to encounter another need to awaken the ability once more.

Days had gone by, until one night, 2 vasils came over to him. He didn't know what their intentions were, but he had heard rumors.

The first rumor was the most frightening. Talk said that when they got to where they were going, they would have their memories wiped and become like newborns, the owners couldn't afford to have traumatized lavels as slaves, so they would make them forget all their pasts, and who they were. No one wanted to lose who they were, and this was so frightening to the poor kids who just wanted this whole ordeal to be over.

The other was more distasteful. Some vasils had fetishes, especially the lavel kind. While the richer ones got off on their slaves, the poorer vasils such as the slave guards, or the slave guard overseers, couldn't afford such p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e lavels.

The lead vasil was known to have a thing for young lavel male kids. He would pick the most resistance and enjoy breaking them, watching them crumble under him. While even some of the buyers knew of this, they didn't mind since the lavel would be mind wiped, and hence he would have no recollection.

It was this vasil that had supported poor Alie. Two guards came to pick him, and as they did, they didn't conceal what would happen to him.

Since it was at night, and the yellow sun had also set, they had torches to lit their path.

Alie felt it again, and not a moment too soon.

That call, the fire had come alive again, and it could dance to his summons. Instantly, the fire flew from the torch and hit both the guards. Alie was in a state of enlightenment, so he was not conscious of what he was doing. The fire would form small balls that flew out to the guards.

Over and over again he bombarded them with these balls. Relentless, even after they fell, he continued his assault, which led to the fire breaking out. He channeled some of the fire to his bids and those of the slaves, giving everyone a chance to escape. From here you know how the story goes.

As all these memories assaulted him, he wondered if he should follow the raven. He didn't have a home, a family, anywhere to go. He was completely loner, left to fend for himself. While this was not completely unheard of for a.d.u.l.t lavels, a kid out in the wild was completely unheard of. This felt like a one way trip.

Enter Dane, a macho dragon with a tender heart of stray kids, especially one with such potential. Dane was honestly surprised by how awesome these powers were. Not many got to uncover overpowered abilities such as these, and he had to applaud the solar system, as a circ.u.mbinary planet was renown for its ability to produce top grade supers. Talk about a jackpot.

This next part was always the more critical one. After awakening, what next. There were many that awakened an a ability in a time of need, but when they came to, they thought they were dreaming or fantasizing, and if that happened, they would fail to summon the ability even if it's awakened.

Lavels, like all predators, had a sharp eyesight and could even see pretty well in darkness However, even this has its limits. Right now Alie felt as though he was in total darkness, like the place he was in had no light. This was the intended effect.

When Dane first opens a dimension, it is totally devoid of anything, and mostly it can only be used as a storage space, as since there is no time, it can completely store anything without signs of aging.

However, anyone who mastered the use of time element can introduce some of its essences into the dimension, allowing a smooth flow of time. Since in this dimension they are gods, they can dictate how fast time flows and even adopt models for it. As the science and technology around spatial dimensions and of course, spatial artifacts, for those who do not have the power to create a spatial dimension continued to grow, so did the guidelines and procedures around it improve.

As long as one can make a spatial dimensions, there were and frameworks on how to set up the various elements. The limit to how much elements could be introduced solely depended on the one making, and as long as one was powerful enough, they could even create a universe. There were those that believed that the universe they lived in was a spatial dimension invented by the universe creator. However, there were obvious limits to the capabilities of a spatial dimension, and hence this idea had been discarded. The being itself hadn't shown up to approve or discredit the arguments, which even made it more mysterious.

Dane had several spatial dimensions, and given how much of a genius he was in them, they were so well developed and intertwined. In fact, while he had traveled long distances in spacesh.i.p.s, he could just enter his worlds and live there for the duration of travel.

Spatial dimensions, unlike spatial artifacts, were tied to the individual that made them. A spatial artifact was tied to the artifact, the artifact itself acting as the anchor point for the dimension, or more specifically, the lock. Spatial dimensions had their anchor points fixed on their creators, so whenever the creator did move, the spatial dimension went with them.

However, when the creator entered the dimension they created, they had to leave an anchor behind which would also act as the entry point, or portal. The more experienced makers though would be able to pin a dimension created in a certain area, making it immovable. They would then create spatial gates that would act as entry points.

The most advanced sh.i.p.s especially the ones that he made, were so small yet they could accommodate a multitude. This was because they incorporated the science of spatial engineering, where large dimensions even acted as suburbs, allowing the passengers to live as though they were in their own home. There were also windows and viewing points, and to assure passengers, some sh.i.p.s build a dome like container, reminding the passengers that they were in travel.

Dane had very well developed dimensions, and one such was called the roadway through hell. It was one he had created soon after he unlocked his draconian bloodline. It was full of fire, thunder and wind elements.

In order to support life, he had added the life essence, a derivative from the nature element, into it. Without this, no being could survive. Even then, it looked like a dark fiery cave, and there was running magma under it.

In truth, this was a perfect abode for a dragon, who's most comfortable in a in a fiery environment. Dragons had a naturally perfect affinity to the fire, earth and thunder elements, and while the thunder element was more for attacks, the fire and earth gave it a natural habitat. When Dane awakened his bloodline, he naturally obtained these perfect affinities, and while he himself had some experience in these elements, gaining perfect affinities was like gaining a cheat. It was a massive boost that built his abilities massive heights, and this was the perfect place to test it out.

The cave was like a mountain range. At the very top, there was a perpetual storm. The huge clouds up above made made a river that flowed from the mountain range to a lake. The mountain had molten lava flowing and some cracks could be seen, exposing some magma rivers, which also drained into the lake basin as well. This led to massive steam which supplied the storm.

The mountain had a smoky peak that gave off dark clouds of smoke, and of course, the lava beneath. It was a place of nightmares, and to get there, one had to pass through a passage of complete darkness. This was where Alie was.

The passage was designed to have no light element in it, no particles whatsoever. It was like completely depriving someone of their sight. However, for anyone who can summon fire, this was an easy fix. Too bad Alie didn't know how to do that yet.

Digging deep, Alie lifted his palms. Both times he had been able to manipulate fire, he had used his hands, so it was natural he would use them again. He closed his eyes and focused, and that's when it happened.

His fingers began to heat up, and slowly, they began to glow. No pain could be felt, but instead, it was almost comforting. He loved that feeling a lot, and with a smile, he noticed that his hands could illuminate his path.
