Robot For A Boyfriend

Emily lies in the hospital bed calmly, almost falling asleep, when a mail-bot bursts through the doors "Miss Emily. This is an important letter from the District 9-C Hospital. It is in regards to your father!" He exclaims, glitching and stuttering after each sentence. Emily grabs the letter, nor knowing what to expect, and opens it, reading the contents.

Tears start to stream down Emily's cheeks as she continues to read. "Sweetie," Kaine says with a worried expression "Would you like to read aloud so the readers of this book can hear what's going on?" Emily wipes her eyes and looks at Kaine. "My. Dad. Is. Dead!" She says between sobs. Emily casts the letter aside and Kaine stands up and hugs her. "My sweet. Everything will be fine. If you want to pull out of the training, my father and I understand." Kaine says in a warm and collective manner.

"No. I want to stay with you." Emily replies, her breath starting to slow back down. "Me and my father weren't exactly close. Especially since mom died. He didn't want to adopt anyway, so he was stuck with me." She continues. Kaine looks confused. "You're adopted? I couldn't tell."

Emily chuckles. "Aren't you a robot who has x-ray, night vision, super speed, and a grapple hook? Can't you tell differences in DNA?" Kaine laughs with her. "I'm sorry I don't stalk my girlfriend." They laugh together as they continue to hug each other, not wanting to let go.
