Ron Weasley: A Noble's Ascension

Chapter 15 - Ron's First "Friend"

Having gotten his bag and his books Ron, dashed to a secluded part of Knockturn Alley since the Aging Potion effects was coming undone. Now back to his regular size he used the Hair-Regrowing charm to regrow his hair.

"*Crinis Crescente*"

With his looks back, Ron left the dark alley, and returned to Diagon Alley to buy a cauldron and ingredients.

His first stop was Potage's Cauldron Shop since It was the closest to him. When he went inside all he could see were cauldrons, of different colors and sizes. Although Hogwarts first years needed to buy a pewter couldron, Ron came to buy a copper cauldron, they brewed more efficiently and faster than the pewter ones. Walking up to the counter he was quickly noticed by the middle aged woman behind it.

"Ah, you must me the youngest Weasley! What can I do for you?"

"*Damn it...*"

"Ah, I'm sorry I forgot."

Ron quickly ran out of the shop leaving the woman confused by his sudden departure. Once outside he clicked his tongue, he couldn't believe he almost made such a stupid mistake, how could he openly spend money at a shop frequented by his entire family.

"*Damn, should I go back to Knockturn Alley and buy one there?*"

As Ron stood outside the shop rattling his brain, he failed to notice a girl standing in front of him. Who was staring at him but hadn't said anything since he looked deep in thought.

"Damn it!"

Shouting out of frustration, Ron was going to begrudgingly return to Knockturn Alley, but a high pitch cry caught his attention. Looking down he saw a girl in expensive looking clothes trying to stand up. Trying to hold up his image of a noble and kind boy, he stretched out his hand towards her.

"Sorry, did I startle you? Let me help you."

"Ah, thank you."

She accepted his offer and he helped her up, now the two awkwardly faced eachother, with neither speaking. Getting a closer look at the girl's glossy light brown hair and light blue eyes, Ron remembered her, she was Daphne Greengrass, Now knowing who she was, he was more perplexed as to why she was here, so he asked her.

"What brings you to Diagon Alley, Lady Greengrass?"

"Ah, I came with my father to Gringotts and as I was passing I saw you..."

"*So her dad's here? That old man was smart enough to get in good with the light and dark side. So I doubt that him allowing his daughter to speak to me isn't part of some ploy. Yet, I think she's perfect...*"

"I see, then I'm glad I chose to come here today, since I got to see you again, Lady Greengrass."

"Ah, yes, it's nice to see you too, Ronald."

"Please call me Ron, and if you don't mind me being so bold, I'd like to be your friend, Lady Greengrass..."

"Please call me Daphne! and I'd like that... Um, Ron, could I ask you a question?"

"Sure Daphne, we're friends now, ask me anything."

Hearing him calling her name she couldn't help blushing, Ron noticed and smiled at her which only made her turn redder.

"How did you get so good at Potions? My dad got me a tutor but even he isn't as good as you."

"*And there it is, my way in.*"

"Is that so? I mean if you don't mind, I could teach you."

Daphne couldn't believe his words and even pinched herself, she just wanted to see if he could give her some tips, yet he offered to personally teach her. Realizing that she hadn't responded she quickly nodded her head so fast that it seemed like it would come off.

"Great, after you talk to your father let me know when you're free and I'll come over, you could also go to my house."

"Yeah, I'll ask my father, but I'm sure he'll accept."

Now that Ron got a "Friend" it was time for her to help him.

"Daphne could you please do me a favor?"

The girl wasn't expecting him to ask for something and thinking thatbhe might ask for money ahe readied her money bag.

"Could you please take this money and buy me a copper cauldron?"

"Huh?"

She did expect him to ask her to buy something but when he gave her the money for the item she was confused.

"But if you have the money why don't you-"

"I got in trouble with the shop owner and she won't sell it to me, that's why I was so frustrated. So could you, please? I'll be sure to invite you to some Ice cream at Florean's after."

Since she didn't have to pay for it and she was going to get treated to Ice Cream Daphne accepted and took the Galleonss from Ron before entering the shop. After a few seconds she walked out and took a out a copper cauldron from her bag, handing it to him who put it in his red bag.

"Thank you, Daphne! You truly are a great friend, come let's go get Ice Cream."

"Oka-"

"Daphne!"

Before she could accept a loud voice called her, turning she saw her father waiting for her.

"I'm sorry Ron I have to go, but I'll send you a letter after I talk to my father."

"It's a shame that you have to go, but I understand, I'll see you later then, Bye!"

"Bye!"

Daphne ran to her father who kept his eyes on the red haired boy who was speaking with his daughter. Ron noticed and bowed to the man, who simply nodded.

"*That went perfect, I got my cauldron and if her old man accepts I'll have a chance to get his and other Purebloods backing...*"

As he watched the Greengrass's apparate away, Ron went to Slug and Jiggers to pay his tab and restock on ingredients.
