Ron Weasley: A Noble's Ascension

Chapter 55 - Paying Respect.

Having reached the Gargoyle statue Prof. Flitwick stated the newest password.

" Merlin's Hat."

Ron slightly raised an eyebrow at the latest password finding it a bit whimsical. Not wasting time Prof. Flitwick headed inside and motioned the absentminded Ron to enter.

"* Regardless of being a tremendous talent, he's still a child and is obviously nervous. Nevertheless he made a mistake and must own up to it, before he believes he did nothing wrong.*"

" Ronald, let's go."

" Coming Professor."

-

This was Ron's second time inside the Headmaster's Office in as many days yet the place was still so interesting to him. There was so many different objects and things he'd never seen it even heard about scattered all around the grand room.

"* So Fawkes isn't here right now, ah but he is!*"

Although it was his own office Dumbledore was again not present or prepared when they arrived. Prof. Flitwick went over to have a seat and was going to offer the other to Ronald but noticed that he was walking towards a cupboard.

Wondering what exactly Ron was up to the Professor stayed quiet. Ron stopped right in front a tall collum of portraits hanging from the wall and looked towards one in particular.

The portrait in question was one depicting a clever looking wizard, with black hair, dark eyes, a pointed beard and thin eyebrows. What caught the Prof. Flitwick's attention was that the man was painted with long green and silver robes, which were the Slytherin House's Colours.

"* Wait isn't that... *"

Ron took one step closer as he placed his right hand over his c.h.e.s.t, the other to his side, and deeply bowed.

" This unfilial child greets the great Ancestor."

His bow and words weren't replied right away but after a few seconds the man in the portrait came to life.

" ... Unfilial indeed! You failed to recognize your elders! I can't believe Lucretia failed to properly educate on the basic formality of paying respect to ones own Ancestors!"

" It's entirely my fault Ancestor, please don't blame Aunt Lucretia for my shortcomings."

Bowing again Ron stayed in that bent over position until a voice called out to the Portrait.

" Don't be so hard on the boy Phineas, can't you see he's apologizing?"

" Hmph! At least you're aware of your mistake. Fine you can stand, but let this be the last time you fail to recognize me! Understood!?"

Slowly raising his head Ron gave the portrait another short bow while agreeing to his request.

" I promise to never make the same mistake twice, Ancestor."

" Good. Remember that since that little girl Lucretia accepted you into our Family you're a Black! Don't bow your head so easily towards others, that brings shame upon us all! We aren't subservient to anyone!"

" I will be sure to remember your words, Ancestor."

Witnessing the interaction between the two Dumbledore had a slight smile on his face but his eyes were focused on the Crimson Haired Boy. Ron did noticed his gaze but payed it no attention as he went to stand behind Prof. Flitwick.

" What brings you two here, during class time?

*Sigh*

Standing up the short Prof. Flitwick couldn't help but sigh before he explained what had occurred.

" Headmaster... "

-

" After the student in question was taken to the Hospital Wing, I came here with Ronald to have you decide his punishment."

During Prof. Flitwick's retelling the old Wizard had a surprised look but his calm composure never changed. He occasionally looked towards Ron who simply stated straight ahead not saying anything.

" Hmm, this is a very delicate situation indeed... What are your thoughts on this Professor?"

Waiting for that exact question, the stubby Professor tried to help Ron's case.

" Headmaster what you have said is true this is a very delicate situation but one which was instigated by the other student. That being said Ronald did use excessive force in retaliation, so I propose detention and mandatory service to the school which can be decided by you."

" Oh!? What do you think Ronald? You've been silent throughout the discussion, but I'd like to hear your side of things."

Taking one quick look at the old man Ron knew that everything had worked out in his favor but that was also when loud shouting came from outside.

" Let me in you stupid piece of rock!!!"

The the sound of the voice the three people inside the office knew exactly who was causing the commotion.

"* Lucius Malfoy!*"

" It seems this will not be handled so easily. I doubt Lucius will accept such a light punishment to his son's "Attacker"... "

" I'd hoped he'd be kept in the Ministry long enough for this to be resolved, yet he's here already... "

While the two men were foreboding the incoming nuisance Ron was smiling from ear to ear. As soon as Ron turned to face Dumbledore his apparent smile faded instead being replaced with a more somber look.

" Headmaster you're also the current and residing Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, correct? "

Surprised by Ron's words Dumbledore slowly nodded and was subsequently shocked by the ones he spoke after.

" Then could you let me handle Mr. Malfoy? Not as a Student of Hogwarts but as the current Heir of the Noble Prewett Family?"

Professor Flitwick was the first to process Ron's words and tried to get him to forgo the crazy idea yet Ron ignored his pleas instead focused on the Headmaster response.

Dumbledore was trying to figure out the reason behind Ron's idea to personally confront Lucius but then he caught a glimpse of a sly smile from the corner of his eye.

" Are you sure this is what you want? I might be able to surpress Lucius by using my power as Headmaster but... "

Not waiting for Dumbledore to finish speaking, Ron took a step forward and with a confident smile reassured both of the men.

" Please, as Professor Flitwick said Draco instigated the altercation but I did hurl him into the air. I am not without blame so please let me settle things with his family personally."

"* By the looks of it I have nothing to worry about, yet I truly wonder if this is for the best... *"

" If this is how you wish to settle things I don't see a reason to stop you, but please remember that your battle this time isn't in spell casting and your opponent isn't a little boy."

" Ronald... "

" It'll be fine Professor. I never do anything I'm not confident in."

That passing comment was reassuring for Prof. Flitwick but when Dumbledore heard it his eyebrow twitched ever so lightly.
