Ron Weasley: A Noble's Ascension

Chapter 76 - Unexpected Outcome! Disappearing Ronald.

Throughout Charms class Ron went far and beyond to standout. He answered any and all questions asked by Prof. Flitwick or by his classmates. The latter also wasn't limited to those from Ravenclaw. He answered and helped those from Hufflepuff as well. Even now he was patiently explaining the lesson to a Hufflepuff boy.

" ... And if you follow these steps correctly you'll end up with this!"

He slowly and clearly stated before casting a simple cleaning charm. The student observing Ron, was amazed at his showcasing. Yet, Ron wasn't so much as he moved on to another student.

"* That was the fifth student already. This has to win me some points with Flitwick, right?*"

Thus, Ron continuously helped his peers until class came to an end. He was subsequently showered with thanks and praise from those he helped. However what he d.e.s.i.r.ed wasn't their cheers but the Professor's favor.

" I have something I'd like to discuss with Prof. Flitwick so can you wait for me outside?"

Ron hastily asked as everyone else was exiting the classroom. Annoyed but used to his behavior the girls nodded before leaving. Alone, Ron shook his head getting rid of any acc.u.mulated anxiousness.

"* It'll be fine. Professor Flitwick loves me, he'll surely make good on his promise and teach me. If not... -- Sigh -- Alright, let's do this!*"

Done preparing himself, he went to confront the short Professor. Who was busy tidying up his classroom with a content smile. Slowly approaching him, Ron made sure to put on his shining smile. It hadn't failed him yet and hoped for it to help now.

" Professor, Prof. Flitwick, could I have a moment of your time? I'd like to ask you a question."

While addressing the Professor Ron did so in a low but stern manner. He didn't want for the Professor to notice his anxiousness.

" Ah, Ronald first and foremost I'd like to thank you for helping your fellow peers today. It also helped me, as I was able to help the remaining students."

Listening to Prof. Flitwick's words filled with praise raised Ron's confidence.

"* Great! It worked, now let's address the main topic.*"

So with a c.h.e.s.t full of confidence he decided to play humble. All the meanwhile certain that he'd just been paranoid.

" It was nothing Professor, I was just doing what anyone else would have done... "

Then hearing the Professor's following response his previously muddled mind was finally calmed.

" Nonsense, you were outstanding and if there's anything you need please let me know. It's the least I can do for such a wonderful and model student such as yourself."

With everything seemingly fine, Ron proceeded to ask about his upcoming training.

" Actually Professor, there's something I wanted to know, it's about my Dueling Lessons. With what happened afterwards I wasn't able to-"

Not letting him finish, Prof. Flitwick interrupted Ron and gave a swift reply.

" I'm sorry Ronald, but I cannot instruct you on those matters. If that was your goal I'm sorry to say this, but it was in vain. If there's anything else...? "

Taken aback by the Professor's words, Ron hastily tried to salvage the situation.

" Prof. Flitwick, I truly regret what occured, and I assure you it will never happen again. For those reasons I'd like for you to reconsider-"

However he found himself unable to state his point as he was cut off again.

" Ronald, I'm sorry but I can't do that, if it's of any consolation I was quite looking forward to teaching you. Sadly, the Headmaster has deemed you shouldn't receive any training in offensive magic... "

Learing that Dumbledore was the one who called off his lessons, Ron's smile faded. Not only were his plans derailed this also meant he was considered a threat. To what extent he wasn't sure which only made things worse.

"* Damn It, I'd thought he'd given up on me, I guess I was wrong. This also comes at the worst possible moment, right as my plans were coming together... F.u.c.k.*"

Then as Ron was witnessing his plans crumbling down a sliver of hope appeared. Coming from Prof. Flitwick himself as he finished his earlier sentence.

" ... At least until after the matter with the Malfoy's is settled. Once that's settled I'm sure the Headmaster will be more inclined to grant his permission."

Shortly thereafter Ron bid Prof. Flitwick farewell, before exiting the classroom.

Walking out, Daphne and Hermione looked towards Ron but noticed that something seemed off. He didn't wait for them to figure it out however and walked right passed them. Looking at one another they helplessly shrugged their shoulders before following after him.

" Ron, what happened? Is everything okay we-"

Daphne sped up a bit, managing to catch up to him. She first thought about holding on to his arm but decided against it. Rather she settled with just asking him directly. Yet Ron ignored her question altogether, instead asking one of his own.

" The letters have they've been sent out?"

Albeit not what she expected she did answer.

" Uh, yes. I personally sent them. Ronald did someth-"

" That's good. What about the matter with Susan has she agreed to join the Study Group?"

Again she was interrupted, as Ron followed up with another question. This time around Daphne wasn't pleased with his attitude but answered nonetheless. Although she did so in a very irritated tone, which it seemed he didn't even notice.

" I did speak to her and invited her to the group, but. -- Well she told me she'd think it over."

" Alright. I'll take my leave as I've got other matters to attend to. Ate you two going back to the Common Room or-"

" Where are you headed to? We'll go with you. It beats being stuck in the common room."

Unfortunately for him both girls expressed interest in following him. Hermione just barely arriving at their side when she joined Daphne in her request. Now they both stared at him with hope shining in their eyes to learn more about his secret endeavors. Surprisingly in a rare occurrence Ron agreed to their request.

" Sure, if you can successfully follow me you can tag along."

First shocked then finding themselves jumping in excitement. The girls failed to take note of Ron's newly renovated smile. Thus when they stopped with their joyful display and readied himself Ron was nowhere in sight.

" Huh? Where did he go!?"

" I don't know, he was just here a second ago... "

While the duo of Daphne and Hermione tried to figure out what exactly happened. Ron was calmly making his way towards the Room of Requirements.

"* Really now, I've got to teach them not to lose sight of their target so easily. Much less one who can cast non verbal magic. -- oh well I'll leave that for another day. Right now I've got to find another way to-*"

Suddenly Ron stopped walking, placed his left hand behind his back and put forth a serene smile.

"* This might be interesting... *"
