Ruler Of Iron And Flesh

Chapter 65 - Demarcus

A man was walking in an underground cave. He could see his breath in the air as he exhaled. He felt chills run up and down his back as he came to a simple wooden door.

'I always hate this part.' He thought and knocked on the wooden door.

"Come in," came an icy voice that scr.a.p.ed against the man's eardrums.

The man hesitatingly opened the door, "excuse me, Demarcus, but I bring urgent news."

Demarcus was sitting at a table, his body ice blue, and there was a constant icy fog leaking out.

This was the same monster that was with the dragon king Jonah, the second oldest descendant.

"Well, tell me."

The man felt his throat drying up and swallowed his saliva, "Segar has been destroyed. Not by an army, but by a single man who sprouted wings from his back! I think he may be like you, sir."

Demarcus smiled a cold smile, "I see. I guess my fun here is over then. I've created a criminal Empire just for the fun of it, now, let's see what the 'king' does with it."

He stood up and began walking out of the room. The man was perplexed, "but sir? Don't you have the ability to stop him? We need you, sir."

Demarcus continued walking, "I don't need to do anything. I'm afraid it isn't time yet for me to confront the king. I need to let the young king continue his destruction."

The man stuttered, "b..but, what does that mean for us?!"

Demarcus cruelly smiled, "you do the math."

Demarcus closed the wooden door and left the man whimpering and shivering in the little office space.

'Finally, the young king is letting out a little rage.' He thought.

He went back up the cave and into an opening. There was nothing outside the cave except for the sand.

Demarcus lied to a few crime lords, telling his runners to slip the information that he was in Kairo.

'Now, the young king will tear apart Kairo looking for me. This is perfect!'

Demarcus laughed as he began walking back North towards Jonah's lair.

Queen Irigia gasped when she heard the news, "What?! Inian completely wiped out Segar?"

A scout had radioed in that Segar was ashes. This news shocked the Queen, and she sat down heavily on her throne.

Burt was standing next to her and rubbed his forehead when he heard the news.

The Queen thought for a moment, "when Janae came back and told me what she heard; I wasn't sure I could believe it. But according to your report, and what happened to Segar, we can safely assume that the power of the king is changing Inian, and not for the better. I want you to keep Inian away from Janae, and we will consider him a threat if he comes back the Irigia."

The Queen rubbed her head, "I really wish this wasn't true. The old Inian would never even consider this as a solution."

Burt's shoulders dropped, "what should we do then? If he did decide to attack Irigia, we don't have the power to stop him anymore. It would take at least a couple different countries fighting him to take him down now. Trust me, I saw him fight the descendant in the ocean. He is far more powerful now than he was when we fought the Empire."

Queen Irigia sighed, "do you have a solution? Because I don't have one."

Burt rubbed his chin for a moment, "maybe we should increase our focus on researching the automatons. If we can mass-produce a bunch of strong machines, then we don't have to risk any human lives."

The Queen nodded, and Burt bowed low. He left to go and increase the research effort being put into automatons.

"I'm sorry, Inian, but you leave us no choice," the Queen whispered. She got up from her throne and went to find Janae.
