RWBY: Fireborn

Chapter 11 - 11 The Past Returns

A/N: I have a commenter make some points about my story. First, I was working with my father before I was ten in his wood shop, BY MY OWN CHOSE. Second, I have a friend that works with his father as a welder and he helped as well when he was ten, BY HIS CHOSE. Third, my character, Logan, was in a similar situation as the two of us. As for the weapons, his dagger and pistol were meant so that he could deal with human problems; his armor was because he did not activate his aura yet. Plus the armor will have more reasons in the future. So please enjoy the tale I am weaving or not at all! :)

Logan's eyes opened up to reveal a unknown ceiling above him. Soon the events of the last few days help arose him from his tiredness. He now realized what had happened and were he was. As Logan got out of bed and got dressed, he looked around the room he was given. It is a decent sized room with a simple bed, nightstand, dresser, and desk with a chair. On the nightstand was a digital clock that read '6:21 AM'.

Logan: 'I don't know what I should do. I got up naturally like I used to at my home. It's still early, if I am to aim to be a hunter and fine out who is after my family, I need to get stronger.'

Logan: "I am far too weak."

As Logan mumbled to himself, he turned towards the door of the room, he noticed that there was a bag next to his door. Quickly walking over to it, he examines it to find all the things he was carrying with him. He found his tool kit, armor, gun, and knife in the bag, as well as the bits and pieces of what is left of the rest of his things. As he looked, he found his scroll amidst the pieces of everything, surprisingly it survived the chaos of the fight. As he looked upon his belonging, he found the remnants of his cloak. His father's, mother's, and his aunt's emblems combined to make his own.

As he held it in his hands, he remembered al the good and bad times with them. Sighing, he picked up his tool-kit and his gun and brought them to his desk. Opening his tool-kit, he got to work taking apart his pistol. Soon the gun was in pieces, the slide, barrel, magazine, receiver, trigger, and frame was apart so that Logan could examine each piece. As he worked, unknown to him, Tai had opened the door to check up on him. As soon as Logan was done repairing his pistol, Tai knocked on the door frame, arousing him from his concentration.

Tai: "Hey, breakfast is ready if your done tinkering."

Logan: "Sorry, I was busy fixing 'Nigrantis versus' here. I didn't see you."

Tai: "Well, I'm glad your up early, head down and get breakfast while I get Yang and Ruby up. There won't be any left if you get there last."

Tai left Logan alone after that, Logan looked ta the clock on the nightstand and it read '7:56 AM'.

Logan had a look of surprise on his face, he hadn't realized that he had been tinkering for almost 2 hours! Logan quickly put away his tool-kit and left the room. As he left, he had realized that his hands were greasy from the gun parts. As he was outside his door, he noticed Qrow leaving a room further down from were he was and ask were the bathroom was and got a tired point from him. As he waled the was Qrow pointed, he found a open door with a large red bunny leaving while yawning and rubbing her eye with a paw covered hand.

Logan: "Morning Ruby!"

Ruby: "Morning... Lo- *yawn* Logan. Do you need the potty to? Its this way."

Ruby responded. As she woke up a little, she then lead Logan to the bathroom. When they got there, before Logan could say thanks; Ruby muttered something and walked in shutting the door behind her. As Logan waited, Yang arrived groggy but awake.

Yang: "Is Ruby in there?"

Logan: "Yea, she is."

Yang: "How have you waited?"

Logan: "About 3 minutes."

Yang walked to the door and knocked, she received no reply. She knocked again and yelled, asking Ruby if she was still awake. This time she got a muffled reply from inside. A few minutes later, the sounds of running water could be heard, and Ruby emerged from the bathroom with he hood pulled back.

Ruby: "All yours, Logan."

Logan: "Thanks. I'll be quick Yang."

Yang: "Okay."

Yang crossed her arms behind her head as Logan entered the bathroom. Once he was finished, he left and gave the bathroom to Yang. Walking down stairs, Logan smelled pancakes cooking in the kitchen. As he entered, Tai was there cooking in a apron. Next to him were plates on one side and on the on the other was a large stack of pancakes on a plate. Being kind, Logan took the plates and began setting the table, while Tai looked on approvingly. Soon Ruby, Yang, and Qrow came in and set at the table waiting for Tai to be done while they idle chit-chat with each other. Qrow watched from the corner of his eye as Logan finished setting the table, he was curious about something.

Qrow: "Hey boy, you seem awfully good with your manners and fighting for some one of your age. What's your secret?"

Tai: "Qrow! He doesn't have to if he wants, you know."

Logan: "It's fine, I really don't mind. I have whats called a photo-graphic/reflexive memory, its rarer than a photo-graphic memory. It's the reason why I can use heavy machines and tools with ease. Everything I have heard, seen, or read is etched into my memory. That includes fighting styles as well."

Tai: "That's..."

Qrow: "Terrifying if you think about it, being able to copy any fighting moves, would basically mean you can win any fight."

Logan: "Not really, there is a limit with what I can do. If my body isn't capable with what I try to copy, I can only bring out about 1/4 quarter of what the style is capable, not a full 100%. Plus there is only so much I can copy."

Tai: "I see... so you can't copy everything. And I'm guessing that you can't copy unique styles of fighting that rely on special characteristics that use aura or extra body parts like fanus have. Plus, If you copy too much, you overload your brain."

Logan: "Yes, depending on how much, it can go from a little headache to me blacking out from the overload. I learned that right now that my limit is very little as I haven't trained enough to deal with it yet."

Qrow: "Impressive. So that pretty much explains why your manners is better than most kids you age."

Logan: "No, my mother beat those into me."

Tai came over and distributed the pancakes among those at the table. Ruby and Yang immediately dug in and started devouring the food in front of them. As they were uninterested in the conversation.

Tai: "Really?"

Logan: "A wooden spoon is a great motivator for unruly people."

Qrow: "What? She used that on your father and aunt, as well as you?"

Logan: "No comment."

Qrow and Tai went wide-eyed at that. Their minds melded, and a single thought went through their heads.

Both: 'She definitely wears the pants in their marriage, and Melodia knows better say anything.'

Tai: "Anyways, what are you going to do? I saw you tinkering with your pistol, you need any parts?"

Logan: " 'Nigrantis versus' just needs some light oil for the moving parts in the receiver and trigger. Other than that, I need a work place so I can repair my armor and my knife is scrap now as is a part of my armor. If I have scrap and a forge I can make my own money and armor back. But for now, I need to train my semblance more, I believe I have yet to completely understand it. I don't think its just manipulating the earth, I think there's more to it."

Tai: "For now focus on your semblance. You can worry about your weapon and armor at Signal, every student creates theirs during their first and second year there. But for now lets eat."

Logan and Qrow agreed, as Ruby and Yang were almost done and were starting to eye their pancakes. As the three of the began eating, unbeknown to him, Auren was going through Logan's memories. Logan Barrett's memories.
