RWBY: Fireborn

Chapter 21 - That Night

The night came fast as Logan regrouped with Jaune in the room designated for men changing in to their pajamas. As Logan took out simple maroon shorts and violet shirt form his bag, he glanced over at Jaune and what he saw shocked him. Jaune had taken out from his bag a one-piece footy-pajamas that were bright baby blue with a white bunny head on the c.h.e.s.t. Nagini who had popped her head out saw them and raised her wings in surprise.

Logan: "No! No,no,no! I will have Nagini burn those with you in them if you wear those, Jaune! And If you do, you will never get to live it down."

Jaune, who was not expecting that, froze with the pajamas still clutched in his hands. Nagini had flew down and with her wings still spread, spewed a 5 inch (152.4cm) flame a few feet away from them. Her poster seemed to say, 'Just give the order, and I'll turn him into a roasted chicken!'. Jaune, fearing for his life and pajamas, quickly stuffed them back in to his bag. Logan tossed him his pajamas and told him.

Logan: "Here, wear these. At least you won't look like an idiot."

Jaune: "What about you? Are you going to sleep in your armor? That can't be comfortable."

Logan: "It wouldn't be the first time. And you should learn to yourself. It's a handy trick to learn."

Jaune: "Thanks. Oh, Yang said that you've been on missions already. What's it like?"

Logan: "They were simple grim clean-up missions. Nothing major. And they all were on the island of Patch, so I really didn't go that far."

Logan and Jaune idly chatted while they got ready. Nagini still stared at Jaune's bag that had his original pajamas in them. As the returned to the ballroom, Logan and Jaune separated to find sleeping spaces. As Logan found a corner to dose in, he could see most of the ballroom with ease. He spotted Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang in a group idly chatting with each other. Jaune was chatting with a red haired girl and a long haired boy with a magenta streak in his hair, while a young teen girl with short orange hair was bouncing around. As Logan smiled at the sight were everyone he knows is getting along with others, he noticed Cardin out of the corner of his eye. He was chatting with a few other, from their looks, he was probably bragging.

Logan just drifted off to sleep. As he slept, Yang and Ruby were asked questions about him. Weiss and Blake were curious about him.

Weiss: "What the deal with him? My father has been trying to buy the rights to 'Eagle-flight' ever since it was built. I over heard that one of the offers was a few million lien!"

Yang: "He wants them to be for everyone. He just like that. He doesn't do it for the money, just to help people, one of the new ones he made were built with first responders in mind. Fire, Ambulance, Police; any situation really."

Ruby: "He is really caring for people. I mean, some of the first people he helped when got to Patch, were elderly."

Blake: "What do you mean? I thought he was your brother?"

Yang: "We basically adopted him after he stayed with us for three months. His parents are off on a mission. We hear their fine, but the mission is a long and tedious one."

Weiss: "Hmm, that not surprising. Some missions take years to complete. So, who are his parents?"

Ruby: "They have nicknames, his mother is, Carmeli, 'The Auburn Swords-women', while his father is Aurum 'The Black Lion King'. They are named Hunters, so their strong."

Weiss and Blake froze when they heard their names. Hunters that have nicknames fell in to two categories: One, those that are locally known for their prowess; the other is one known Remnant wide along with their faces, they're the ones that become targets for any criminals who want them gone as they're a treat to them. Both of Logan's parents were near the top of that list.

Weiss: "That explains what happened with that Cardin guy. With parents like that, I doubt he didn't have any form of training."

Blake: "Who?"

Yang explained that some guy came over and tried to hit on her.

Yang: "After Logan laughed at his crappy pick-up line, he freaked out and tried to punch him. Once Logan laid him out, he just left not wanting to fight anymore."

Blake was impressed by Logan's prowess, and the fact he has a level head when he fights. After talking a bit about other things, someone loudly said for them to hit the sack. As they returned to their sleeping spots. As the last of the lights died, most of everyone started to try and sleep.

Logan awoke to the sounds of soft footsteps. As he opened his eyes, all he could see was black. Slowly bringing up his hand to his visor on the top of his head, he pulled it down to his eyes. After tapping a side of the visor, everything suddenly became green as he had activated his visor's night-vision mode. As his eyes adjusted to the sudden change, he saw what looked like a group of four leaving the ballroom. Logan, glanced st the top lift corner of his visor to look at the time, 3:17 am.

Curious, Logan activated his cloak and stealthy followed the group out after setting down Nagini gently as to not wake her. As he followed them, he noticed that one had a small bag with him. Continuing their pace, they soon found themselves in a empty storage room light by moonlight from several windows. After getting in, Logan could finally see what they looked like. One had short black spiky hair and blue eyes and carried the bag, the second one had fire red eyes with matching slicked back hair. The third and fourth ones were twins with long, wavy brown hair, the only way to tell them apart was from their eyes. One had green eyes and the other had dark grey, almost black eyes. The one with the spiky hair then took out a notebook from the bag.

Logan listened in as they talked, finding out they were second year students. They had sneaked into the opening ceremony. Three of them were planing on pranking the new students at breakfast the morning after the initiation test in the morning. While the fourth was dosing off in a corner. As Logan listened, they were getting dangerous with their stunts, some involving explosives, others fire, one even had to do with a truck load of 'People like Gr.a.p.es' soda. When they finished planing, it was passed five in the morning. Logan had recorded every plan they had made. As they left, Logan noticed that the had left the notebook behind, sneaking it in to his cloak, Logan left and returned to the ballroom.

The time for breakfast came sooner than Logan would have liked as he had his sleep disrupted by the second year students. It didn't help the fact that the bouncing orange haired girl was singing its morning at the top of her lungs. Logan got up and went to breakfast, as well as trying not to gag her.

Logan: {'As much as I don't sleep, that is annoying. And the last thing I want to hear at six in the morning.'}

Logan, not wanting to deal with her, left to go do his usual routine before breakfast. As he finished brushing his teeth and entered the cafeteria, he heard the girl once again talking animatedly to the long, black haired boy with the magenta streak. Logan felt sorry for the boy as he seemed way too used to it. Soon, Logan was joined by Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang for breakfast.

Ruby: "Morning!"

Weiss: "Good morning."

Blake: "Morning."

Yang: "Hey Logan!"

As they set their plates down near him, Nagini came out of Ruby's hood, chirping and full of energy. While they were chatting idly, Jaune came by with his group of new friends. Logan learned that the energetic orange haired girl was Nora. She wearing a collared black vest that ends at her waist, her emblem, a hammer with a lightning bolt, can be found on its back, under the vest are two layers of clothing, colored red and light-blue, a white sleeveless top that forms a tiny heart shape cut out over her c.h.e.s.t, with a white detached sleeve on each arm. Matching fingerless gloves on each hand. She sports a short pink skirt that starts at the waist and ends mid-t.h.i.g.h. Her shoes are a mix of pink and white with pink laces. The black haired boy was Ren. Sporting a dark green, diagonally-buttoned, long-sleeved tailcoat that is red on the inside, with black and gold trimming and pink cuffs, while some of the trimming goes down the right side of his torso and forms a black collar. A black, long-sleeved shirt beneath the suit and light-tan pants with black shoes finishes off his outfit.

The last girl was someone Logan recognized. Wearing a top, she wore a brown over-bust corset with a vertical strip of lighter brown in the center, elastic, black, A-line mini skirt and brown opera-length gloves on both arms. And a red ankle-length sash that wrapped around her skirt, small circular bronze plate on her right hip opposite two pouches with both connected to a belt, as well as bronze greaves, bracers, and circlet adorned with a pair of small, green, teardrop-shaped emeralds on thin chains. And to finis her outfit off was a bronze gorget around her neck and a bronze bracelet on the upper half of her left arm. The 'Pride of Mistral' Pyrrha Nikos.

As Logan and the group continued to chat and introduce themselves, it became apparent that they could get along well with each other. Shocking them with Nagini sudden breath of fire. As well as everyone's fighting style. The time for the initiation test came to upon them.
