RWBY: Fireborn

A week has past since the surgery, and Daniel has awoken and managed to recover somewhat enough to walk. Annette has been looking for a job while Daniel was talking with Ozpin to see if he could be hired as a janitor or gardener for Beacon. Teams RWBY and JNPR have managed to shove the memory of the surgery to the back of their minds for now. As they have somewhat come to terms with what they saw. Currently, Jaune was with Logan in his workshop.

Inside, Jaune was in the middle of trying on his new armor Logan made him. Logan was putting the finishing touches on Jaune's new sword. Outside, both teams RWBY and JNPR were waiting to see. Once Jaune was finished, he slowly stuttered stepped out of the shop, fearing what they would say. As he walked out, he was met with shouts of surprise and awe, yang even gave a catcall.

[Yang] "Damn! I knew clothes make the man, but you clean up nicely! You look ten time better!"

Jaune new armor made him more knight-like with his signature colors of white and gold. From the top down; the c.h.e.s.t-plate had a wide upper c.h.e.s.t section divided in section with two over his pecks and one over his sternum/solar plexus. His mid-rift was covered in hexagonal segmented plates in an laid pattern. His back was built in an similar manner to the front; his shoulder-plates were made of long thin strips of metal in an overlaid pattern, the rerebraces (upper arm) appeared as a single piece, but when moved turned out to be just close together. On his elbows were simple single plate pads, the vambracers he had were similar to his rerebraces; his left being bigger then his right. And his armor gloves had plates over every segment but the tips of his fingers and thumbs. On Jaune's waist was an belt with a tessat (a cloth and plates hanging from the belt), that reached just above his knees. The shin and knee guards were made as one piece and were fit snuggly to his shins. On Logan's demand, Jaune replace his sneakers with heavy combat boots that Logan modify with articulated ankle guard plates. To finish it all off, Logan managed to have Jaune forego his hoodie for a turtleneck made from his 'dura-cloth'.

As the teams were forcing Jaune to show off his new look, Logan walked out and watched them for a bit with a smile on his face. A few minutes pasted before they realized that he was there. Once they were done, and had slightly embarrassed faces, Logan examined Jaune for any loose places in his new armor. Once he was satisfied, Logan began to explain about the armor.

[Logan] "The armors a new design I thought of during concept. It's an alloy with aura-steel mixed in with titanium and cobalt. It may not looked it, but it gets stronger the more aura you pour in to it, and lighter then normal armor to boot."

[Jaune] "It's amazing, but, don't you think this is too much? I can't really accept all this."

[Ren] "This is a bit much."

Team JNPR, Blake, and Weiss all agreed that it was to much of a return for a simple shield. Yang was smirking as she looked at them While Ruby was currently examining the left vambracer with curiosity, as she noticed that it was different from the rest of it. She backed up as soon as Logan started talking again.

[Logan] "It's fine, even if I did take it back, it would only sit and collect dust. So take it, I don't mind."

[Jaune] "If your sure. By the way, you said everything was ready, so where's the shield and sword?"

[Ruby] "If it's the shield, I believe your wearing it already."

She points at the left vambracer. As she drew their attention to it, they noticed that it was larger then the right one. The right one was slim by comparison, while the left was bulky and thick. As Ruby pointed this out, Logan had smiled at her inquisitve and curious mind.

[Logan] "As expected, Ruby, you have a good eye. That vambracer doubles as a shield system utilizing a memory shape alloy I designed but never used. It has three modes, buckler, kite-shield, and tower-shield. Imagine what shield you want, inject some aura, and it will form it at once. Once you get used to it, it will become second nature to switch on the move. The sword I made you has a similar feature as well.

As Logan said that, he handed over a large rectangular 'box' colored white and gold to him. The box was about 16in (40.64cm) long, 5in (12.7cm) wide, and 3in (7.62cm) thick. Throughout the box, thin lines could be seen.

[Logan] "This 'box' is similar to my weapon system I made. The biggest difference is that this is limited to what it can form. This, unlike the shield, has several forms that it can take. They are a kukri, a dagger, a arming sword (short sword), a bastard sword (long sword), a zweihander (claymore), and a pike. It's the same with the shield. Inject some aura and imagine what one you want. The edges of the blades are made from hardlight, so the cutting and piercing power is nothing to scoff at. They might catch you off guard, so you might want to train a bit with them before you spar with anyone."

Jaune thanked him and stepped away from the group. He started out by going through the modes of the shield. Once he was familiar with it, he switched to the 'box' system. As he went through the different modes, Logan noticed that Jaune had a knack for using a zweihander. Logan watched as he, unbeknownst to himself, shifted his weight every time he swung the sword. Jaune was shifting his weight so that the sword didn't swing to far in his hands, the same thing happened with the pike. Jaune unknowingly has natural talent when it comes to weapons that require to shift his weight around. As he watched, Ozpin had walked up behind them and had joined the group as Jaune practiced with his new gear. As Ozpin spoke, he spooked the teams except Logan.

[Ozpin] "He seems to have some talent."

[Logan] "With a proper trainer, he could give me a run for my money."

[Ozpin] "Is that an idle complement, Mr Tenebris?"

[Logan] "Fact. I take it your not here to see him train, are you?"

[Ozpin] "No, I received a mission I wish for you to undertake. Please meet me at my office for further details."

As quickly as he came, Ozpin left. Logan followed behind soon after. After Jaune finished his short training session, he looked and saw the look upon the faces of his friends. Asking what happened, they explained that Logan was called for a mission by Ozpin. They wondered out load what the mission could be. Was it a grim extermination request? A delivery? Or could it be a bandit capture one?

In Ozpin's office

Logan stood at attention, feet shoulder width apart, and stared at Ozpin. Waiting for the mission briefing; Ozpin just stared back at Logan, as if telling him to wait for someone else. About three minutes later, Glynda arrived by the elevator. As she walked over to them, she stood beside Logan.

[Ozpin] "Thank you for coming. The mission I have for you is an A-rank subjugation mission. A massive bandit group have taken over a town and have been using it as a hub for black-market trading. Since the town is on the edge of Vale, people who have gone there end up missing. The populace thinks it's due to grim. However, thanks to a scout, he now know that they have been kidnapped and sold as slaves. We have estimated the group's size to be around 100 - 150 strong. Your mission is to rescue all kidnapped people and eliminate the bandit group."

[Logan] "Understood. What about taking prisoners?"

[Ozpin] "You may try, if you will. But, that is secondary. Your primary objective is to secure any and all those taken as slaves, as well as any evidence of where the have been shipped."

[Logan] "The town? Do we have a layout of it and the surrounding area?"

[Glynda] "A map and topographic layout will be transferred to your scroll upon your arrival. I will be there as well to evaluate your ability, planning, and execution of said plan. And to provide any additional assistance if the situation demands it."

[Logan] "Understood. Anything else?"

Ozpin said no and they discussed a plan before hand. After Logan had left, Auren spoke to Ozpin and Glynda through a telepathy link.

{Auren} "I'm worried about Logan. He seems to become a solider more and more lately. I fear that he may drown in his self-imposed duties. I wish for him to open up more."

{Ozpin} "That maybe so. But I believe that it's his way to cut his emotions so that they don't interfere with the mission at hand. An effective but costly thing to do."

{Glynda} "I will see if I can get him to open up. He's just a boy, yet at the same time a experienced solider. He has too many responsibilities for his age. I fear that one day he may break from it."

{Auren} "We all agree then? That Logan needs to open up and see to it that he doesn't break?"

{Ozpin} "Yes."

{Glynda} "I agree."

{Auren} "Then this mission should be leaked to his sister's team and that Arc boy's. They may become a shoulder he can lean on in the future."

{Glynda} "I'm worried that they may think less of him if they find out."

{Ozpin} "That is a possibility, but I highly doubt that they will. His sisters understand that he basically a fully fledged Hunter already. What they need right now it to understand that he took this mission himself, and understood what it entailed."

As they discussed about Logan, he had left and was on his way to his lab when he ran in to a student and her team at an intersection. The team consisted of two girls and two boys. And the one he ran into was sitting on he b.u.t.t, rubbing the side of her head.

The girl he ran into had fair skin, short dark-brown hair and dark-brown eyes. She has wavy locks on one side of her face, dyed with a gradient that starts as a dark brown and transitions to caramel. She wore a long, cocoa-colored shirt with a dark brown waist cincher. She wears long, dark brown trousers with ribbons on the left side and a brown belt with cartridges. Above it, she wears another cocoa-colored belt of cartridges with a gold cross-hairs buckle. What appears to be a dr.a.p.e of black skirt hangs on her right side. She wears a pair of dark brown, high-heeled leather boots with buckles. She dos numerous accessories such as; a bracelet with black roses as decoration, Several dark colored necklaces, short black gloves with the index finger missing, and a black shoulder bag with gold studs, which is held by a bandolier strap. She had a beret of a darker brown and a pair of black, wire-rimmed aviator sunglasses on her face.

The other girl quickly helped her up. She has long, brown hair and brown eyes. She also has a pair of brown rabbit ears, identifying her as a Faunus. She had what appears to be her combat gear, which is comprised of a short, long-sleeved brown jacket with a golden zipper, brown shorts with golden detail and black leggings. She wears a black, semi-translucent undershirt beneath her jacket, along with golden spaulders and vambraces on both arms, as well as a similar belt, and her heel and toes are likewise protected. Over her shoulder was a small wood and gold c.h.e.s.t-like box.

One of the boys just watched Logan, at least Logan thought he did until he saw his eyes. They were pure white. He's a teenage boy with dark skin and dark, messy copper hair that has a long fringe and a cowlick. Wearing a sleeveless, muted orange zipper vest with black lining and a high collar, a pair of black jeans, and brown, laced shoes. His arms are covered in scars, and he has a vertical scar on his lips. He also wears a pair of long black gloves and has several pouches attached to his belt. On his h.i.p.s were what looked like some type of blades gauntlets.

The final member of the team was a mountain of a student. The tall and athletic-looking young man has shaved-short black hair and tanned skin, wearing mostly pale-green and brown attire. He has a long short-sleeved robe, which he wears on one shoulder over a black muscle shirt. The robe is fastened at the waist by a leather armored belt with two pouches on it. He also wears brown pants and black-and-green boots. His left arm bears a 5-layer sode which extends up past his shoulder. What appeared to be his weapon was strapped to his back with a leather harness.

[???] "Hey! Watch where your going! This outfit isn't cheap!"

[???] "Umm, Coco? You were the not paying attention."

[Logan] "No harm, no foul. We both had our minds elsewhere. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I haven't met you before, I'm Logan Tenebris."

[Velvet] "Um, hello...My names Velvet Scarlatina, this is my team leader Coco Adel. That's Fox Alistair and Yatsuhashi Daichi."

As she introduced herself and team, she hid behind the girl known as Coco. As Logan wondered why, he realized that it was probably due to her being a Faunus. Logan smiled and tried to ease her worries.

[Logan] "I see, Miss Velvet, you don't have to be afraid. I have no hate or dislike for Faunus. I see them as human as the rest of us and have no qualms with them."

[Coco] "Sorry, she's like that due to some a** messing with her and pulling her ears. Don't take it personally. Anyway, you said you were Logan, right? Your the one who got the animals and grounds from Professor Ozpin. Also the one who's solo and go on missions as a first year?"

[Logan] "Yes, that's due to some personal reasons. And if your wondering, yes, I also help with some training classes and weapon maintenance."

[Coco] "Nice! Hey, Velvet here was wondering if you could give her some ideas to deal with her weapon, if we ever met you. We've already heard that you help both students and teachers with theirs. I, myself, was gonna see if you had any light oil for mine."

[Logan] "As much as I would like to help, I can't. I was given a mission that had to be completed. Once I get back, I'll help you with what I can. If you want, we can exchange contact info. When I get back, I'll let you know."

[Coco] "Deal. But you owe me a date."

[Logan] "For what, may I ask?"

[Coco] "For knocking me over and getting my clothes dirty."

[Logan] "*sigh* Fine. I need to go. I have Professor Goodwitch observing this mission. I rather not make her wait."

Logan walked off and Coco had a smirk, as the team watched him disappear around a corner, Coco laughed. The rest of her team just shook their heads. To them, this fashionista of their team leader couldn't miss the opportunity to stylize some good looking. She stopped laughing when Yatsu spoke.

[Yatsu] "I don't think it's a good idea to mess with him."

[Coco] "Why? All I'm going to do is make him look good."

[Fox] "He means that he's no push over. I could feel that I would lose to him with ease. That first year is special for a reason, Coco. But the name Tenebris, where have I heard that before?"

[Velvet] "Isn't that the name of the 'Eagle-flight' shuttles creator?"

[Yatsu] "It is. So, we know he's smart, strong, and talented. And from what I could tell, he's humble and unbiased towards Faunus. As if he's friends with quite a number of them."

[Coco] "This is one date I'm looking forward to."
