RWBY: The Phantom Of Remnant

Chapter 65 - Champion

Pyrrha's hands calmly raised her spear and shield as her smiled slowly disappeared. Her eyes became much more serious and focused.

Magna replied in kind as he dashed forward. Pyrrha quickly leapt back as her spear transformed into a hunting rifle. She rapidly unloaded 4 shots before rolling backwards and shooting another 4 shots.

With a wide smirk, Magna turned his scythe and fired. The recoil from the shot forced his body to move to the side, barely dodging Pyrrha's first 4 shots.

Suddenly, Magna was using the recoil from his weapon to move in a zig zag motion. It was a good thing that the atlesian army had set up a few forcefields.

Seeing no point in trying to shoot him, Pyrrha quickly switched her rifle back into its spear form. Raising her shield infront of her, Pyrrha gave a short war cry as she dashed forward to meet him.

When she was just in front of him, Magna faced the blade of his scythe upwards as he tilted the gun barrel towards the ground.

With one last shot before having to reload, Magna fired the sniper and instantly leapt to the air, spinning like a buzzsaw towards her.

Pyrrha's eyes widened as she hastily rolled out of the way. Magna's scythe embedded itself deep into the stage. Even though she knew her aura would protect her, Pyrrha felt a chill in the back of her neck.

Seeing the glare she was shooting at him, Magna awkwardly smiled as he said, "I'm sorry~."

Pyrrha's reply was to raise her shield and try bash Magna in the face. Magna used his scythe as a spring board as he leapt off, just dodging Pyrrha's shield.

A fierce smile appeared on Pyrrha's face as she charged at the now weapon-less Magna. Cursing his bad luck, Magna's entire being became a blur as an explosion of dust and wind swept through the stage.

Magna charged at an extreme speed as he zipped pass Pyrrha, though not before fl.i.c.k.i.n.g his fingers up at her and giving the spartan girl a cheeky wink.

Grabbing hold of his scythe as he shot pass, a large tear appeared on the ground as sparks started flying.

With a mighty grunt, Magna used the force from the burst and the pull from the scythe in the ground to flip his body, pulling the scythe from the ground.

He spun in the air for a bit before the wind around his body started to forcefully slow his momentum.

As he landed, he slowly spun around as he stopped, facing Pyrrha directly. He held his scythe to his side as he smirked, "Did not think I could pull that off!"

The crowd, the announcer, even Pyrrha, they all froze before bursting into cheers. That would have to be the most insane thing most of these people have ever seen.

Villagers mostly don't get to see a huntsmen fighting, unless it's THEIR village being attacked. The only other time is when the vytal festival starts up or the regional tournaments.

Even then, it's mostly kids and villagers that enter the tournaments. Occasional, huntsmen do join but they usually limit themselves due to their opponent being a villager.

The stunt that Magna pulled off was the most intense piece of action that most of these people have ever seen.

Pyrrha quickly ran over with stars in her eyes as she said, "Oh my Oum! That was such an amazing sight!"

Magna shyly smiled as he said, "Thanks, Pyrrha."

A bright smile appeared on her face as she softly said, "It's my p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e~."

Suddenly, both Magna and Pyrrha collapsed next to each other. The crowd suddenly became nervous as everyone quieted down.

Magna and Pyrrha quickly turned to each other and started laughing.

"I'm bushed…"

"So am I, Magna." Said Pyrrha. She stared at Magna for a few seconds before smiling, "That was a wonderful battle Magna. I had alot of fun."

Magna decided to be smart as he said, "Well, it's up there in my top battles list."

Seeing the shit-eating grin on Magna's face, Pyrrha knew he was being a smart-ass as she rolled her eyes, "I feel so honored to be on your list."

Magna's eyes brightened up as he laughed, "So you do know sarcasm!"

Her eyes twitched a little as she pouted, "Just because I'm a friendly person doesn't mean I can't be sarcastic."

"Huh? I guess not. Hey, announcer! Since we both collapsed and can't continue, what happens?"

Pyrrha looked towards Magna with a grin, "Who says I can't move?"

Her body trembled a couple times but ultimately stayed lying on the ground.

"Alright, you were right." Said Pyrrha as she sort of shrugged her shoulders.

The announcer held a finger and said, "Wait a minute please while I talk to the sponsors."

He quickly ran off and after a few minutes, he came running back with a huge smile on his face. Once he was situated in front of the camera, he burst into laughter as he said, "The sponsors have spoken… and we have ourselves, the first ever, in the history of the regional tournaments, TWO WAY TIE!!!"

It took the crowd a few seconds to process the official announcement before a roaring applause appeared. This was the first tie in history. Sure, there were times when it came close but when the judgement was made, it came down to one factor.

Aura reserves. If both contestants were unable to continuing fight, the thing they used for a deciding factor was how much aura each contestant had left.

The one with the most aura left in their reserves would be deemed the winner. After a thorough check, both Magna and Pyrrha's aura reserves were resting at about 5% their usually.

They also discovered that both Magna and Pyrrha had almost 6 times the normal amount for their age. The crowd showed shocked faces when they learned that before bursting into cheers.

Now Magna was just confused as he turned to Pyrrha. After being propped up by a couple nurses, both Magna and Pyrrha were sitting up on makeshift chairs.

"Uh Pyrrha? Why are they cheering for our aura reserves?"

She giggled a little before realising he was serious, "Do you not know what that means?"

Seeing his silence as a yes, she smiled as she said, "It's ok Magna. The thing they're cheering about is the fact that we will be strong. That means that it will be easier to protect the things we love."

Magna was stunned. All these people were cheering just because they were strong. It felt good, having alot of people cheer for your gifts instead of feel jealous.

Pyrrha could see Magna trying to fight the smile, threatening to come out in an attempt to not look arrogant. However, she couldn't insult him for it as she was in the same situation. It surprised the pair how hard it was to not look arrogant from the praise they were receiving.

Sure, Pyrrha was famous at her school but that was it. This was her debut into the world, something her mother supported whole heartedly. Feeling the crowds around you, cheering for you, it was hard to not lose yourself in their praise.

Suddenly, the doctor from before walked onto the stage with a couple deer faunus nurses. The two deer faunus went towards Magna. They gently put their hand on Magna's shoulder as a green glow softly surrounded him.

Magna could feel his energy coming back and his wounds healing but he could also feel a hunger like no other.

Just as he was about to ask what was happening, a loud growl echoed from beside him, followed by a sheepish 'Eep!'.

Turning back, Magna's eyes widened as Pyrrha's face was as read as her hair. Her eyes were wide as well as she shyly stuttered, "Y-you didn't hear that, d-did you?"

"I-" Just as Magna opened his mouth, another load growl happened but this time, it was from Magna's stomach.

However, Magna wasn't embarrassed. He just smiled as he said, "You wanna get something to eat? I mean, we both have money to blow."

Pyrrha knew he was referring to the 25,000 lien they got. It wasn't the full 50 but the pair didn't mind. Magna already gets paid from doing missions with Qrow while Pyrrha accompanies her mother on missions sometimes.

She quickly calmed down with only a slight blush remaining as she brightly smiled, "I would love to get something to eat."
