RWBY: The Phantom Of Remnant

Chapter 66 - The Battle After The Finals (Not An Actual Fight)

The doctor explained to the pair that the two deer faunus used their semblances on them. One quintupled the natural rate at which stamina comes back while the other quintupled the natural healing rate of the body.

However, their semblance had one drawback. It used up the fat in the body. Sure, it sounds good but it made them super hungry. Like, SUPER hungry.

Magna and Pyrrha started off limping towards a nearby restaurant when the first bout of hunger hit them. They both felt that the state of their body was good enough to move faster so they started jogging.

Halfway to the restaurant and the pair were suddenly sprinting. They burst into the restaurant and scanned the room until the found their target.

They ran to the nice old man behind the counter and said in sync, "Give me the biggest meal you have!!!"

A small gleam appeared in the old man's eyes as he smiled and dashed into the kitchen. A bunch of loud noises burst out from the kitchen for a few seconds before the old man kick open the door on the other side of the restaurant.

With a surprising amount of strength and balance, the old man carried out 2 humongous bowls of combination ramen.

To the two champions, however, they didn't care as they slammed their cards down and dug in. The more they ate, the faster they seemed to heal.

Magna didn't judge Pyrrha for her slightly unladylike way of eating, considering he was doing the same thing.

After a few minutes, both Magna and Pyrrha finished their first bowl as they quickly shouted, "Another please!"

A strange glint appeared in Magna's eyes as he said, "How about we settle who the winner of our battle was?"

She raised an eyebrow as she tilted her head slightly, "Did you want to battle?"

"What? No! I was going to suggest an eating contest. I'm kinda not in the mood for a fight." Defended Magna.

After today's matches, unless some grimm attacked, he planned to collapse on a chair in his hotel room.

Pyrrha sighed in relief as she smiled, "I know what you mean. My body may be fine but my mind is almost burnt out."

After Magna explained the rules, their little competition began. However, it was a very chill competition. The pair kept pace with one another and just sat there and talked.

It was weird to Magna how awkward Pyrrha was but he didn't mind. She already explained how she didn't have any friends. Apparently being the best fighter in your combat school made making friends hard.

Magna happily talked about the missions he's been on with his mentor while Pyrrha told him about the missions she accompanied her mother on.

It wasn't til the six bowl that Pyrrha let out a sigh of content as she leaned back on her chair. Magna was honestly becoming full as well, so he quickly finished up the last bit and leaned back in content.

Pyrrha jokingly snapped her fingers as she said, "Darn! We both finished the same amount of food. Guess we'll never have a winner."

Magna chuckled at her as he patted his stomach, "Honestly, I don't really care anymore. I had a good fight and then had some good food. The only thing I'm looking forward to is a good rest."

Like a light bulb just lit up in her head, Pyrrha quickly became worried as she asked, "By the way, how is your weapon looking? That last bit must have left quite the scratch."

A grin appeared on Magna's face as he proudly said, "Heh! My weapon is fine. My uncles made it out of an experimental metal. It's stronger and more durable than most metals but the downside is that it weights alot more as well."

Pyrrha gasped as she gave him a look of shock, "You mean you didn't build your own weapon?"

Magna's shoulders fell abit as he sighed, "Yeah, I didn't. I mean, I'm gonna build me a weapon but I don't know how."

Just as Pyrrha went to speak, the door swung open as a beautiful woman with red hair and green eyes burst into the shop as she yelled, "Pyrrha!? Are you okay?"

Before Pyrrha could reply, the woman dove across the store as she quickly squeezed the life out of her. Pyrrha slapped the woman's shoulders as she quickly spoke, "I'm fine mother… P-Please stop hugging me!... I-I need to breath!"

The woman who appeared to be Pyrrha's mother quickly let her go as she smiled, "Oooh~ My baby girls first tournament match! I managed to get the whole thing on camera!"

Pyrrha blushed as she stamped her foot on the ground, "Mother!"

Pyrrha's mother recoiled back slightly for a few seconds before she recovered and slapped Pyrrha on the shoulder, "Don't you 'Mother!' me young lady. It's well within my rights to record all your first times!"

The blush on Pyrrha's face deepened as she slammed her face into her palms. Saying nothing, Pyrrha silently points at Magna. When her mother saw the young boy watching them from the side, Pyrrha's mother froze.

It took a few seconds but she quickly recovered herself as she said, "Hello~ My name is Lily Nikos, Pyrrha's mother. You are?"

Magna gave her a bright smile as he extended his hand, "I'm Magna Opus. I came all the way from Patch to participate in the tournament. Nice to meet you, Mrs Nikos."

Lily wasn't that surprised about his tournament name being an alias as she happily shook his hand, "Well, it's nice to meet you too, Magna. Congratulation on winning alongside my baby girl."

After the greeting were out of the way, Pyrrha's mother told her that they needed to leave as the night was quickly setting in.

Pyrrha showed an obvious reluctance to leave as she didn't want to ditch her new friend. Her mother, however, thought of something completely different as she grinned.

She gently nudged Pyrrha's side as she leaned in and whispered, "Is my baby girl experiencing her first crush?"

Pyrrha's eyes suddenly shot wide opened as she screamed, "WHAT!?! NO I AM NOT, MOTHER!"

Lily only grinned harder as Pyrrha's response only served to solidify her claim. She scanned Magna for a few seconds before turning towards Pyrrha and whispering into her ear, "Well, I like this boy. He seems nice."

Pyrrha couldn't help but look at Magna. She agreed that Magna was a nice boy. And his appearance was very above average. She just didn't know what to think since they've technically only known each other for a few days.

While Magna was answering a call on his scroll, Lily quickly grabbed Pyrrha as she whispered, "I know what your thinking Pyrrha. Your thinking that because you haven't known each other very long that you don't know what to think, right?"

Pyrrha's face gave her a look of shock. Seeing that she didn't deny it, Lily smiled gently as she said, "Let me tell you a story. Back in my more active days, I was usually by myself. Most of my team had settled down and I was the only one that continued being a huntress."

"After a few failed jobs, I was forced to work with someone. Turns out that the person assigned to me was another lone huntsmen. When we met, it didn't go good nor did it go bad, it was just a normal meeting."

"However, as a couple days went by, we started realising that we had alot in common. Then, before we realised it, we were dating. He was the sweetest man I had ever met and we truly loved each other. And the greatest gift he had ever given me… was you."

Pyrrha's eyes widened as Lily smiled, "That's right Pyrrha, I was talking about your father. You see, we didn't need years of knowing each other to fall in love, we just needed the courage to take the dive."

Once Lily finished speaking, she watched with a smile as Pyrrha seemed to seriously think over her words.

After almost half a minute, Pyrrha gave a small smile as she said, "Thank you, mother. But I still don't know if I have a crush on Magna."

"It's fine, honey. Take your time, I'm in no rush for grandchildren… at least not yet." Lily said with a gently smile on her face.

Pyrrha was about to give her a wry smile when a loud roar bellowed through the city. Both Lily and Pyrrha quickly became serious as they shot out of the store.

Looking towards the ocean, the mother-daughter pair became pale. Destroying the buildings closest to the sea was a giant sea dragon grimm.

Suddenly, a black blur shot pass the pair as Pyrrha screamed, "MAGNA! WAIT!"
