RWBY: The Phantom Of Remnant

Chapter 68 - Saint Tier Water Magic

It only took a couple minutes for the huntsmen to finish the sea dragon grimm off. Once it was grounded, the fight was so easy that Magna almost felt sorry for the grimm. Almost.

Each time it tried to shoot an energy blast from its mouth, someone would charge over and slam it's mouth shut, causing the energy blast to explode inside it's mouth.

Magna, however, was currently being lectured by Qrow. Suddenly, the huntress wielding a halberd walked over and stood infront of Magna, "Woah, what's wrong? Why are you lecturing the kid that saved our butts?"

Qrow glared at her and said, "I'm lecturing him because he didn't listen when I said, 'Don't come to the docks!'. Sure, he managed to save a few people and cripple the annoying lizard but he's still a kid! This was way to dangerous for someone his age!"

The woman returned Qrow's glare as she got up in his face, "Oh yeah? Well, I'm glad he came here! Without him, we would've lost way more huntsman than we already did! Plus, we never would've been able to finish that dragon off this quickly. The dragon was too smart as it never risked injuring itself."

Qrow's glare softened a bit as he knew she was right. That dragon was too intelligent. It kept just out of range of the huntsmen as it unleashed a barrage of long range attacks, only using its tail to sneak attack unsuspecting huntsmen.

With a long sigh, Qrow dropped the matter as he grinned and started ruffling Magna's hair, "You stupid brat! Your lucky I'm such a good teacher."

Magna slapped Qrow's hand as he rolled his eyes. However, he smiled. Qrow was a very good friend to have.

Sure, he had a drinking problem and his semblance was literally bad luck but the man himself was a very loyal and caring person.

After mucking around for a bit, Magna and Qrow were about to hit the hay when Qrow's scroll started ringing.

Qrow tried his hardest not to throw his scroll away as he growled and answered the call. However, after a few seconds, Qrow's face quickly became serious.

With a quick, "I'll deal with it." Qrow hung up the phone as he grabbed Magna and started running.

The huntsmen around them were stunned but decided to let them be. Magna, however, was very confused about what was happened as he said, "Uh, Qrow? What's the rush?"

"…A 'friend' of mine just informed me of an incoming grimm horde. She counted at least a thousand grimm." Replied Qrow as he took to the roof tops.

Magna paled a bit as his throat felt a bit dry, "Shouldn't we ask those other huntsmen for help?"

Qrow continued to jump from roof to roof as he said, "They will. But most of them are injury, we aren't. Plus, the grimm are almost here."

Magna's eyes widened as he said, "Qrow, I'll try and buff your speed. Your base speed is, begrudgingly, higher than mine so give it your all!"

Wind gathered around Magna before moving towards Qrow. With the aid of the wind, Qrow felt his body become incredibly light as he smirked and became a blur.

As the pair sped across the rooftops, a pair of redheads caught sight of them and quietly followed behind them.

After a few minutes, Qrow and Magna reached the top of the wall. Qrow was lightly panting as he reached for his flask, only to find that Magna was holding it.

"Qrow, this is serious. We're about to go against a grimm horde and I need you sober and conscious." Berated Magna as he glared at the alcoholic.

Knowing he was right, Qrow gave a long and hard sigh as he quietly muttered, "Fine…"

The pair looked over the wall and shivered. The could see the hundreds of glowing eyes as they dashed across the open plains.

Qrow even silently thanked Magna as he knew that being drunk while fighting this many could end badly for him.

Magna, on the other hand, was trying to figure out a way to take out some of the grimm. Most of his spells would only be able to take out a few grimm at a time.

Even if he embodied one of his friends, it still wouldn't make that much of a difference.

Suddenly, he had an idea. Closing his eyes, Magna only had one thought in his mind as he repeatedly chanted, 'I need a spell strong enough to clear them out…'

Qrow was confused about what Magna was doing but he didn't say anything. While Magna was deep in thought, a pair of redheads came over as the younger one said, "Magna? What are you doing?"

Almost instantly, Qrow drew his sword only to find it stuck in place. He noticed a dim black glow around his sword as well as the black glow around the young girls hands.

The older one quickly said, "Wait! My name is Lily and I'm a huntress. And this is my daughter, Pyrrha. We saw you two flying across the rooftops in a hurry and decided to see what's up."

Qrow relaxed a little as he said, "The names Qrow and we got word of an incoming grimm horde, reaching up to a thousand grimm."

The mother-daughter pair paled as Qrow continued, "We were going to thin the herd so that the huntsmen here could get some rest."

Lily suddenly became enraged as she roared, "What were you thinking!? How could you bring a child to a battlefield!!!"

Qrow glared at her as he said, "Look lady, Magna has more than proved himself to be a capable fighter. He'll be fine."

Suddenly, Magna opened his eyes with a wide grin on his face.

Ignoring everything else, Magna walked forward until he was just next to the edge of the wall. He lifted his arms to the sky with a solemn expression on his face. His eyes slowly closed as he chanted.

[O great water spirit of great wisdom who resides in heaven]

The clouds in the sky trembled slightly at his words and started to move. The clouds gathered together directly above the plains, right infront of the grimm horde.

[Hear my plea and lend us your ferocious blessing]

Wind started to blow through the area as the clouds began to grow and darken. Pyrrha, Lily and Qrow were stunned as they watched what Magna was doing.

[And show us your might unto this small existence]

Pyrrha felt something fall on her face. Reaching her hand to her face, she wiped of a single drop of water away as she softly muttered, "Rain?"

[Strike your godly hammer onto the anvil and strike fear]

The clouds split apart yet the rain started to fall even harder. By now, the clouds were an eerie black as they squirmed in the air

[By flooding the earth with water]

Suddenly, the winds raged as the clouds were forced together once again. Only this time they were being forced to spin in a funnel.

[Ah, the rain!! Destroy and wash everything away…]

The rain, the clouds, even the wind. Everything that made up the spell Magna was chanting seemed to grow even more intense.

It became so intense that Qrow, Pyrrha and Lily had to cover their faces as they continued to watch in awe.

[C.u.mulonimbus!!!]

Like a gods decree, once Magna spoke the final word, the storm began.

The winds became a tornado that swept the ground, destroying the charging beowolves. The Nevermores, Lancers and Griffons were forced to the ground by the tornado, some even collided with the grimm on the ground.

A large deathstalker only made it about half way across the plain when it's body started sinking into the mud. It struggled but the mud was like quick sand, devouring the deathstalker whole.

Even the baby deathstalkers following from behind ended up six feet under as the rain acted like a torrential flood.

Back on the wall, seeing that he took out most of the troublesome grimm, Magna smiled in relief as he collapsed to the ground, his aura reserves now at a whooping 1%.

Once Magna fainted and the storm settled, Qrow, Pyrrha and Lily all drew a cold breath as they looked at the damage done to the plains.

Black dust rose up all across the land while the grimm that remained actually seemed hesitant to continue.

Obviously, Qrow wasn't about to let them leave. Propping his sword on his shoulder, he looked towards the still dazed Pyrrha and grinned, "Hey kid. Could you do me a favour and look after Magna? I've got a job to do."

Then, he flicked his gaze over to Lily, "I need you to call the rest of the huntsmen in the city. Magna here has taken out alot of them but some still remain."

Before either of them could reply, Qrow leapt off the side of the wall and started charging forward once he hit the ground.

"I definitely can't let my apprentice show me up!" Roared Qrow, a wide smirk pasted on his face as he fearlessly charged at the hesitant grimm.
