RWBY: The Phantom Of Remnant

Chapter 67 - The Battle After The Finals (Actually A Battle)

Dashing through the shadows, Magna quietly headed towards the docks. Qrow had just called him to tell him that a grimm sea dragon was attacking the city.

Luckily, the city's huntsmen already knew what needed to be done. The city's citizen were all quickly relocated to the bunkers near the city wall.

The only problem was that the city's defenses weren't strong enough to kill the beast. Not to mention that it's sleak body and wings made it hard to hit.

Qrow specifically told Magna NOT to come to the docks but he knew he could help. Magna currently had the soul and memories of a very powerful wizard.

Sure, most of the strong abilities were unavailable but that didn't mean he couldn't help. His theory on fusion magic was already proven so if base elements didn't work then fused elements just might.

Just as he went to turn a corner, Magna felt himself being pulled from the shadows before being held in place.

Somehow, Lily had not only caught up to him but also managed to pull him out from inside the shadows.

"WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING MISTER!!!"

Her voice roared in his ears as Magna cringed in pain. However, he didn't crack as he said, "I can help!"

Lily's eyes burned in anger as she yelled, "Like hell you can! Your just a kid! You're more likely to just get in the way!"

Magna knew that she was right but he didn't let that stop him as he pleaded, "Please! I really can help! Just give me a chance!"

"Fine! If you can get pass me, I'll let you go." Said Lily as she placed him on the ground.

Hearing her condition, Magna's eyes brightened up as he said, "Really? Your not lying right?"

Seeing her standing in his way, not speaking, Magna quickly became serious. Taking a deep breath, Magna switched over to Ruby's abilities.

Suddenly, a tornado of rose petals shot down the street, passing by Lily before she could even react.

However, Magna didn't stop there. Another tornado formed as even more rose petals fluttered in the sky.

Lily could barely react to Magna's current speed. A weird look appeared on her face as she wondered why Magna's hair colour changed but shrugged it off as being an optical illusion due to the petals.

Pyrrha quickly came over as she panted, "Well… did you… stop him?"

An awkward smile appeared on her face as she said, "He got pass me. He was at least two times faster than during your match."

An unhappy pout appeared on Pyrrha's face as she started thinking he went easy on her. Her mother saw that look as she flicked her forehead, "Now Pyrrha, Magna may have reasons why he couldn't use that during your fight. Don't judge him if you don't know the full story."

Pyrrha's reply was to lower her head in embarrassment as she took her mother's words to heart. It was kind of bias to just judge him without hearing his side of the story.

She just wished he'd tell her.

Using the wind to slow him down, Magna came skidding to a stop as he quickly switched back to Amber's abilities.

Many different huntsmen and huntresses were swarming the docks. Each and every person were trying their hardest to hit the sea dragon but the results were negative.

The sea dragon was not only fast but strong. Some of the less experienced huntsmen were easily being sent flying while some of the more experienced were just barely making it by.

Looking around the battlefield, Magna saw a single figure leaping around the dragon while swearing like a sailor.

Suddenly, Magna's eyes shrank as he roared, "Qrow! Look out behind you!"

Qrow seemed to have just heard Magna's voice as he hastily evaded a very brutal tail swipe. He looked towards where Magna's voice came from and saw the young man running towards him.

"MAGNA! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE!?!" Roared Qrow. He was already having trouble defending the other huntsmen so Qrow was not in the mood for anything else.

Magna opened his mouth to speak but quickly shut his mouth as he summoned an earth wall around what seemed to be a group of injured huntsmen. He was just in time as a long tail slammed against the wall.

Luckily, Magna used alot of aura on the earth wall as it still stood stand. Qrow knew just what Magna was capable of and he knew why he was there.

He gave a long and hard sigh as he said, "Fine. But promise me you'll be careful. If anything happens to you, your mother will castrate me."

Qrow shivered at the thought of Magna's mother seeing Magna hurt. Magna chuckled as he knew Qrow was slightly afraid of his mother.

Don't get me wrong, Qrow was great friends with Emily and Joshua. What he was afraid of was her anger. He knew it wouldn't end well for himself if Magna was hurt… or worse.

Magna nodded to Qrow as the pair spilt up. With a small smile on his face, Magna's body started releasing very calm wisps of wind.

Slowly, Magna's body lifted off the ground. Some of the surrounding huntsmen stopped and stared as a halberd wielding huntress pointed at him and screamed, "We've got a flyer!"

The reason why the dragon was difficult to fight was due to the fact that it could fly. Unlike the Nevermore, the sea dragon's strongest attack was it's long range energy blast.

Usually, the city's defenses would be enough to combat the dragon but it's hide was unnaturally tough, a common characteristic of this type of grimm. The shots for the cannons merely left scuff marks on the dragons scales.

However, with the arrival of someone who could fly, the tables could quickly be turned in their favor. The halberd huntress deflected another energy blast as she screamed, "KID! CLIP THAT FLYING REPTILES WINGS! AS LONG AS IT'S GROUNDED, WE CAN WIN!"

Fl.i.c.k.i.n.g her a two finger salute, Magna's body flew towards the dragon in a strong gust of wind. The dragon roared as it attacked the huntsmen on the ground, completely oblivious of the incoming danger.

By the time it realised something was on it's back, it was too late as Magna used his scythe and silently shredded the paper-like membrane of it's wings. Without its wing, the dragon roared in pain as it tried to fly but only ended up making its forced descent even worse.

The sea dragon finally lost control of it's body as it harshly crashed into the ground. Magna slowly landed a small bit away with a wide smirk on his face.

From the sky, he saw how all the huntsmen on the docks swarmed towards the dragon grimm like how a horde of zombies would swarm towards any human survivors.

Just as Magna was about to join them, he suddenly found himself being held in place. An uncontrollable cold sweat poured down his forehead as he turned back and saw his mentor, Qrow Branwen.

A fierce light roared in Qrow's eyes as he slowly spoke, "For what it's worth, thanks for the save, Magna. I'm very proud of you."

A smile threatened to appeared on Magna's face but Qrow wasn't finished speaking yet as he continued, "But that and this are two different things. WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!?! WHY, AFTER I SPECIFICALLY TOLD YOU NOT TO, DID YOU COME DOWN TO THE DOCKS!?!"
