Sasha's Dream

Chapter 17 - Eve of a disaster

The next day, Shito woke up early in the morning and found himself in his bed. He didn't notice the changes right away. He slowly got down and had himself refreshed. Finally, he looked around him when he couldn't find the towel where he usually kept it carelessly. He finally noticed that the place was incredibly bright.

"Where am I? What is this place?!"

Everything was well organised and sparkly. The machines were in place and the whole place was cleaned up. There was also a dustbin at a corner for him which wasn't there before.

Though he preferred a dark and dim place, he didn't dislike the new look. It also seemed easier for him to work that way.

After finishing the little work he had to do, he ate breakfast. Then he wondered what he would do for the rest of the day. Just at that moment, he heard the door knocking. He opened it and found Sasha and Doko standing before him.

"Good morning, Shito! We've come to pick you up." Sasha said.

Shito didn't have any reason to refuse anymore. He also grew fond of Sasha for all she was doing so he refrained from acting rudely in front of her. So, he tagged along and played with the other kids.

And so, days went by and things changed little by little. More children started to come out of their homes and enjoyed like they should. The villagers were changing their point of views also and were growing closer to each other. They started to feel grateful to Sasha for all her hard works. The ones who had been rude to her apologized to her eventually after realising their mistakes. As for Shito, he started to open up more and more. As there were a lot less bugs falling and less disasters occurring, he had the time to chill out. He was grateful to her, too. Doko and Lily couldn't be prouder. And, Sasha only thought that she was rebuilding the world she loved.

However, Doko still couldn't shake off some worries he had. It was about Sasha. He still wondered how she was able to reach this world. Also, he wondered why she had forgotten about their encounter. The most important thing that he was worried about was whether she would want to go back to her own world.

In another ordinary peaceful day, Sasha and Doko were were sitting comfortably by the river having finished their works. It was a beautiful sunset as well.

"It's all turning out to be the way I wanted," said she suddenly giving a faint smile.

"It's all thanks to you!" Doko said and Sasha smiled back at him.

Then he looked at the reflection in the water and said carefully,"I've been thinking, Sasha. Do you miss your home?"

In that instant, her smile disappeared and she carefully replied,"This is my real home,Doko."

"You know this isn't. You have another world where you belong. A world which has everything you ever knew. A world...where you were given birth to. A world where you grew up with everyone else. Don't you wanna go back?"

She couldn't find anymore words to reply. What he had said to her just then brought back all the bad memories she tried so hard to forget. She wanted to erase everything she had in the previous world and start anew. But, can memories and emotions gathered from experiences ever truly be forgotten?

She looked down, closed her eyes real tight and covered her ears.

"This is my home. I don't know the world you are talking about anymore. It means nothing to me."

After then, both of them remained silent rather awkwardly. Perhaps Sasha only ran away from the truth or tried to. And, Doko didn't have the right to stop her. Rather, he continued to feel guilty. He started to suspect whether he was the one who made her that way.

"Sorry, please forget I said anything. Okay, Sasha?" He said after a while giving her a troubled smile.

Sasha nodded.

After some time, the light from the sky started to fade away and one by one, the stars started to appear. They were just about to head back home. Just then, the ground started to shake tremendously.

"What is this? Earthquake?" Sasha said out loud out of fear and confusion.

They started to hear a peculiar type of loud crack also.

"We have to go to the village!" Doko said making a serious and determined face.

In an instant, Lily appeared before them as if she were teleported there.

"Doko, come quick! It's the land demon!" She said just as she appeared.

Averting his eyes from her, he looked at the direction of the village and said to Lily,"Take care of her." And, he jumped really high and landed further away from them.

"Doko!" Sasha called out.

A strange bluish light started to glow from his body and he started to grow bigger. Soon, he was covered with blue fur as a gigantic beast. He roared so loudly that they could not hear any sound of crack.

And then, he took off.
