Sasha's Dream

Chapter 27 - Mysteries unfold

That day, Sasha's mother took her home after all that had happened. She thought that it would be the safest to let her rest that day as she looked really worn out. Sasha did not refuse the offer as she had something bigger in mind. As she regained her lost memories, she had so many concerns. And, one of the biggest concerns was how she could get back to that world.

Reaching home, Sasha didn't even refresh herself. She sat before her reading table and started to concentrate by bringing her thoughts together. Then she started recalling how she had been taken there in the first place.

"It was a bright place with a dark starry sky, was it not? While coming back to this world, I got taken to the same place. Except... there was a voice which talked to me... Who was it? Was it the supreme one herself?" She thought to herself.

Then, she remembered about the mysterious book she had. She took it and read it again. She realized that it was about the world she had been taken to. Suddenly, she remembered... about the first time she heard that story. It was when she had been a kindergartner. She realized the similarly of that memory with the dream she had been constantly having. Then, she suspected something.

"Is it the message the ball of light wanted to send me?" She finally thought. She went through the book again. But, she couldn't sort out anything.

Then, she started to think again without giving up.

"The teacher read the story to us when we were kindergartners. I oddly loved the story and...started to draw characters from that world?" As she thought that, she became confused again. She wondered how she knew about the character descriptions in the first place. Then, she remembered about the dream where she met Doko in his beast form.

"So, it wasn't a dream. It was real!" She figured out.

But, she couldn't help but wonder. What would she do now that she knew it? How would it be helpful for her to get back to that world? So many questions... but no answer. But, she wasn't ready to give up though she was pretty worn out. She went through the book yet again. This time, she turned the blank pages also to make sure that she didn't miss anything. There was nothing in the blank pages. But, she got extremely exhausted when she turned those pages. She thought that it might be because of skipping lunch. As it was already dinner time, she decided to take a small break from all the detective work and have dinner.

After dinner, she started to focus again. She thought of going through her drawings once again. Among the drawings, she found a drawing of the 'White Crystal'. She remembered that she drew the crystal the night before she had been taken to the other world. So, she tried drawing it once again thinking that it just might work though it had no meaning. After finishing the drawing, she stared at it for a while and recalled all she had experienced with that crystal. It was indeed a rather short encounter. But, it was precious.

Suddenly, she heard a strange sound of the turning of pages. She looked around and found out that is was the book. The blank pages were turning by themselves very quickly. As she watched with amus.e.m.e.nt, she felt sleepy beyond description. No matter how hard she tried to keep her eyes open, they force closed and she fell asleep immediately.

Then...

She woke up and found what she saw hard to believe. She wondered if her experiment actually worked. She was present in the same cloudy and dark starry mysterious place. Suddenly, the same ball of light appeared before her.

"Greetings!" It said,"I see you've managed to reach up to this stage. You have my complement."

"Are you the supreme one, the spirit of the fantastic world?" Sasha asked without delay as she was very curious.

"No, of course not! I'm merely a servant of her. I believe I promised to send you a message when you are ready. I only offered you that because the supreme one d.e.s.i.r.ed so."

It was a little unbelievable to her. She knew that she wasn't someone very special. Not to mention, she had defects within herself. So, why would the supreme one d.e.s.i.r.e of such a thing? She continued to wonder. But, the ball of light, the supreme one's servant promptly replied her hidden questions.

"The spirit of the world is the ultimate being who looks after the world in every way possible. She is regarded as the creator of this world. However, that's her only ultimate and unique power. The power to give life and abilities. But, not to erase disasters. So, with her powers, the best that she can do is sustaining the world. And so, the recent calamities occurring cannot be stopped with mere powers. But, it is a necessity to prevent such occurring as the people there are the life of the world. If they are content, the world is peaceful. If they are suffering, the ultimate result is destruction. Once it gets destroyed, it cannot be recreated for the supreme one may perish along with it as it is just like a crucial  part of her existence. That's why, she had created some guardians to defend the inhabitants from the calamities. But, it had been getting out of hand. And then, you came along..."

As Sasha was listening to it attentively, she knew immediately what to make sure of.

"Wait... why did the disasters start in the first place?"

Hearing her question, the ball of light remained silent for a while.

"It is because of you humans!"

"The humans?"

"Yes... for centuries, humans had been greedy of the resources of this world. Though they knew little of this world, they did not step down and managed to create a bridge between the two worlds. Their ill intentions and impurity started to affect this magnificent world negatively constantly, resulting the disasters."

Sasha was shocked to know the truth. The thought of humans being responsible of such disasters made her a bit scared and worried. Because, she was a human herself.

"Then, I — "

Sasha wanted to say something but, the servant stopped her to make sure she didn't have the wrong idea.

"You are different!"

The sudden interference stirred her.

"You are different. The supreme one knows so. From the very beginning when you formed a bridge with our world, she knew that you would be able to save it one day."

Sasha was having a bit trouble taking in all the information. She still had lingering questions.

"I don't get it... Doko mentioned to me before that the disasters had been occurring for years. The timeline doesn't add up."

"Time flows differently between the two worlds. You've been to our world for quite a long time. Yet, only a night had gone by in your world."

And, Sasha remained silent for a while after that. She had only one question remaining in her mind.

"How can I save your world?"

The servant remained silent for a while as well. Finally, it answered.

"You know that better than any one of us."
