Sasha's Dream

Chapter 28 - Resolve

Sasha was quiet yet again. She was thinking of a way out. After a period of silence, she finally looked around her surroundings. She realized that she didn't ask a major question which she should have in the beginning.

"May I ask you another question?"

"Ask as many as you like."

"What is this place?"

"This is a part of the bridge. This part was created by you."

"I created this?"

"Yes. From the moment there is a connection between the two worlds, more parts of the bridge gets built. Of course, this happens without the creator noticing. And, the parts are built according to the creators' mentality."

Sasha stared at the ball of light as it explained to her.

"So, this is a part of the bridge... What about the other parts?"

"The other parts were built by other people. But, they are not as beautiful as yours. Rather, those parts act as plagues of disasters for our world."

Hearing it, it was clear to her that the bridge was the root cause of the problems.

"What if the bridge was destroyed? There would be no connection then and your world would not be affected any more."

"But, to do that, we would have to kill the humans who contributed in making the parts of the bridge including you."

Sasha was horrified as the ball of light answered to her idea. Of course, she understood then that they would never resort to such an idea though it was an easy solution. She felt a bit ashamed of herself as well. She started to think harder.

"There must be another way!" She thought.

After a short while, she recalled her encounter with 'The White Crystal'. She remembered Doko's explanation and Lily's belief. And, she realized that she knew almost nothing about the crystal.

"I want to know about another thing."

"What is it?"

"What exactly is 'The White Crystal'?"

"It is an ultimate treasure in our world. It is also regarded as the best creation of the supreme one. This crystal can grant its wielder any wish. But, the wielder must be worthy."

As she listened to the explanation. She discovered the reason behind Doko's attempts. She discovered just how much he had trusted her.

Sasha then looked at the light with glimmering eyes filled with hope.

"Do you think...this crystal is capable of saving the world?"

"It all depends on its wielder."

Afterwards, she looked down and stared at the glowing ground. As she did so, she started to get all her thoughts and ideas together. It felt like a heavy burden at first. But, then she remembered the friends who would willingly support her even if she didn't want it. She remembered that she wasn't alone.

Finally, she looked up again. Mustering her courage, she relayed her decision.

"I know...that I'm not strong enough. Even though I try my best, I barely get satisfactory result. But...this is different!"

If the ball of light were to have a face to express its emotions, it would be seen a bit surprised at Sasha's sudden change of heart.

"Doko believed in me. Lily believes in me. Shito, too. Mr. Gratus and the children in the village as well. They all saw something in me which I failed to see. So, I want to prove them that they believed in the right person. I want to prove myself worthy."

It stayed quiet as she continued later on.

"Besides, I don't want to break the first promise I've ever made," she continued, "I have thought of a way. I don't know if it will work for sure...but I have to try."

"You have found a way?!" The light repeated her statement as it was surprised at it yet again.

"Yes, I have. So, would you please send me to your world? It is inevitable."

"As long as you know what you're doing." It said to make sure.

Sasha kept quite after that. It was as if she had been asked whether she was lying. But, she had already come to a conclusion. And, it was because she learnt to love both of the worlds that she had no more doubts lingering.

"Yes. I know what I must do. I'm sure of it now." She replied finally.

The ball of light, the supreme one's servant interrogated her no further.

Soon afterwards, the surroundings lit up very brightly. Just as Sasha failed to keep her eyes open amidst such brightness, she heard the faint but very kind voice of the light.

"I am counting on you, Sasha. Good luck."

Suddenly, Sasha felt nostalgic wind slamming her continuously. She opened her eyes instantly and found herself falling towards the bottom. If it were her first time, she would have screamed and fainted because of the shock. But, she knew that she wouldn't crash on the ground for she would float towards the bottom. So, calmly she took her position and descended.

After a while, she could see the bottom clearly. There was a river with crystal clear water. She recognised it instantly as it was the place where Doko had found her last time. She changed her position a bit so that she would land on the bank.

Finally, she succeeded in landing safely. Just as she did, she looked around.

"It seems like nothing's changed." She said to herself.

After a few moments, she could hear a faint sound. It was a sound she never heard before. She looked around but saw nothing which could be the source. So, she decided to head to a higher land to check.

On her way, the sound started to get louder. Then, she could finally see at a distance. It was some of the villagers. They were roaring as they were closing in. Almost all of them seemed to have weapons in their hands.

"They seem very angry... What should I do?" Sasha thought. It was obvious to her that the villagers were chasing her. She suspected that they saw her land earlier. Though her conscience told her to run, she stood still. She knew that she couldn't go anywhere far with her little feet. So, she decided to try and convince the villagers somehow for the time being.

Then, all on a sudden, a strange wind blew around her. She knew what wind it was and she was reassured.

"Lily?" She called out.

Then...she disappeared like magic just when the villagers appeared there. They were confused at first. But, it didn't take them long to figure out that it was Lily's deed.

On the other hand, Sasha suddenly found herself in a small but spacious room. Before her standing were Lily and Shito.

"You guys..." She was about to thank them for saving her. But, before she could do so, Lily flew right at her and hugged her real tight.

"I'm glad you're safe!"
