Sasha's Dream

Chapter 8 - Play time

So, gathering the children, Sasha and the others started to talk about what they should play. After a while, Sasha could see Doko coming from a distance. That's when she remembered what he had told her to do. She completely forgot about it and got careless.

"Sasha! There you are." He called out.

"Oh, Doko! Did you carry it all the way?"

"That I did. More importantly, I thought I told you to wait there. Where have you gone?"

"Sorry. I was thinking if I could help anyone..."

Just then, Doko noticed the children with her and got the gist of it.

"Those children... I'm impressed." He said to her.

Sasha smiled. "They want to play. So, I really want to give them a good time," She said.

"Got it."

After that, Doko took Sasha and the children with him to all the fun places he knew of in the land. They also played games which were the tradition of the land. The children had fun and Sasha enjoyed herself, too. But in the midst, they forgot to check  the time.

It was already sunset.

"It's already late. Let's take the children home." Doko suggested. Sasha agreed.

But, the children didn't seem to want to leave just yet. "Don't you know any more game?" Said the cat. "We want to play little longer," said Kum and his friend, the dog, agreed.

Hearing them, Sasha looked at Doko and Doko looked back at her. He knew that it couldn't be helped. He quickly gave her his approval.

So, she finally answered the children, "Well, there is one simple game that I know of. I don't think you have heard of it."

"Tell us!" The children insisted.

"It's OK. I want to know about it, too," Doko agreed.

Then she started to explain.

"Everyone! This game is called 'Rock Paper Scissors'. You only need one of your hands to play it."

They became surprised to hear it. The fact that they didn't need rocks, papers or scissors to play it was rather amusing to them.

Showing them her fist, she continued, "The fist resembles the 'Rock'." Then she opened her hand and said,"This is 'Paper'." And finally, making her hand shaped like scissors, she said,"This is 'Scissors'."

Then she started to explain how the game worked.

" 'Rock' is stronger than 'Scissors'. 'Scissors' is stronger than 'Paper' and 'Paper' is stronger than 'Rock'. First you have to shake your fist 3 times while saying 'Rock Paper Scissors' like this and play either of the 'Rock' or 'Paper' or 'Scissors'. The stronger play wins."

After a while, Kum finally spoke up,"I think I get the idea."

But the others didn't get it at all. Sasha understood that and suggested him that they should give them a demonstration. He agreed. So, they took their position to play.

"Rock Paper Scissors!!!" Both of them said out loud and played.

Sasha's hand was open and, Kum's hand was shaped like scissors. "I win!" Kum said. He was indeed correct. Sasha smiled for him. The rest of the children got motivated. They started to compete one another and continued to have fun.

Finally, Sasha and Doko were able to sit together and look at the children.

"That's a very interesting game. You're like a pro in it!" He said.

"Oh, really?"

"Yeah. You anticipated Kum's move and lost on purpose."

Hearing that, Sasha became surprisingly silent. She never thought that he or anyone could figure out what she was doing.

"That is actually a nice thing to do. You are making the children happy," he continued.

Sasha heard him. She was relieved. She started to tell him a little story about her.

"To tell you the truth, this is my first time playing this game."

He was shocked to hear that.

"I never had any friends. So, I never played anything with anyone. All I did was stare at those playing. Observing carefully day after day, I figured out the best ways to win in games. But, I never got to try them out."

As Sasha stopped, Doko finally said,"I am quite surprised. But, isn't it great? Now you can play those games with your friends."

                        "FRIENDS"

The word stroke her heart. It was a little hard for her to believe. But, she realized that things were starting to change for her.

"I don't have to sit alone for hours anymore. Because I have friends," she thought.

She became overjoyed.

"Thank you, Doko. You're right."

When she said that, he made a confusing face as if she had been mistaken.

"What're you saying, Sasha?" He said, "I should be the one thanking you. You are helping out the ones who never showed you their gratitude."

She stared at him with sparkling eyes. She could just cry out of happiness. But, she kept quiet.

"We should really be going now. It's too late already," Doko reminded. She agreed.
