Sasha's Dream

Chapter 7 - Village children

"I can't stand here hopelessly anymore. I need to do something!" Sasha finally thought. She wanted to be as helpful to the villagers as Doko and Lily was. "But, what can I do? I clearly cannot rely on my strength..." She understood.

Then, suddenly an idea came into her mind. " I could help in household works. Surely there are village girls here who might need my help." Thinking that, she regained her hope and randomly chose a house.

She went near it and knocked it with b.a.r.e hands. She stood still till the door opened. Finally when it slowly started to open, all she could see was darkness. So, she became a little worried and scared. When it was opened a bit more, she could see two red eyes glowing in utter blackness. She was unable to speak.

"Who are you?" Came the voice from the owner of the eyes.

Sasha panicked as she found it really creepy. She mustered her courage and began to speak.

"Gu - good morning... I - I am Sasha Adrene. I wa - was wondering if - if there was a - anything I could do to - to help you today. I - I'll be honoured."

She panicked as she tried to be polite despite that fact that she got herself in a scary situation.

The glowing red eyes raised up a little giving Sasha a perfect glance.

"You want to help me?" Said the person in the darkness.

Sasha could not but remain silent as she was totally creeped out. She knew she had to reply but she couldn't speak at all.

Then all on a sudden, she heard another voice. It sounded like a little boy's and it came from below. She looked down and saw a little cat like child. His c.h.e.s.t was covered with fluffy fur like that of Doko. But, he had two small ears on top of his head.

"Mom, I wanna go out and play!" Said that child.

Just then, the door opened a little more, enough to get the light in. Sasha looked up at the person standing beside the child. It was actually a very beautiful cat-like woman wearing the same cloth as Sasha was. Her hair was light brown and long looking like a long thick fluffy fur. Her eyes looked like red Ruby in the light. And, her stare wasn't scary at all. Rather, it was very soothing.

It seemed as if she had been flattering her when she said, "Miss, you look very beautiful." But, she only told her what came to her mind.

Then she kneeled down to match the little child's height.

"What's your name, little one?" She asked.

"Kum."

"Okay, Kum. Would you like to play with me? It'll be fun."

"Yes, I would love to!"

Sasha stood up to face the beautiful woman. "If you like," she said,"I can look after him for you." Kum obviously liked the idea. He was dying to play outside.

"Please, mom," said he.

Kum's mom began to think about it. At last  she agreed but she didn't  forget to give Sasha conditions.

"You better bring him back before sunset," she said.

Sasha gladly accepted it. Then finally, she took Kum with her and started walking.

"Isn't  this great?" Sasha asked with a happy  face.

Kum looked up and answered without  delay,"Indeed! Thank you, Miss Sasha."

"Just call me Sasha." She insisted. Then she asked him some common questions out of curiosity.

"Don't you usually play outside?

"No, I don't get to. My parents are overprotective. It's  not just me... The other children in this land share the  same fate. We rarely go out for having fun."

"Okay, I get it. Then let's go get your friends. I bet they want to play, too."

Kum was surprised at what she had suggested. He thought  it was impossible. But, he wanted that to happen. So, he went along with her.

They went from door to door in search of companions for playing.  It wasn't  quite a shock that most of them didn't  let their children out. Sasha was still content with the few parents that put their trust in her.

There were four children including Kum. Of them, there was a dog-like boy who had two small ears and a rather small tail. He was as tall as Kum. There was another bunny-like boy who had two long ears on top of his head like any bunny would and was round faced. Lastly, there was a cat-like girl who was quite black in colour and had two short horns on top of her head. A collar with a bell was tied around her throat which constantly  made sweet steady sounds. She was almost as tall as the bunny who was a little shorter than Kum.
