Servants With A Modern Weapon

Chapter 13 - Side Ops: A Carriage In The Middle Of The Road

We were riding a horse and cutting the green grassland. We wore woodland pattern fatigues. We laughed and cheered on our victory against the goblin and especially the goblin's king.

"Everyone, how was it?" I asked while laughing from the top of the horse.

"It's fun, the goblin didn't stand a chance against my rifle," Maria replied while waving her MSG-90 on her right hand and holding the horse with her left hand.

"My machine gun just mowed them down without any difficulties," Garth added as he checked the belt on his machine gun.

"A rifle is better than my wand. maybe it's not enchanting my magic attack, but I'm sure that its firepower is better than my wand," Cecile said as he pointed at the rifle on her hip.

"Haha, just don't forget your CQC training, aka sword training," I replied while smiling.

"Copy that, Wilson," everybody replied cheerily.

In the middle of the road, we saw a light brown carriage that was stopped by bandits. The escort was fighting the bandit, but it seems to be on the losing side. The convoy was outnumbered three to one. The bandits and the bodyguard were wearing leather armor, and some of the bandits were a mage.

I had to make a decision. Either I could circle around the attacked carriage while avoiding the bandit attack or I could send it straight to hell.

"Guys, there is an attacked carriage up front, what we will do with it?" I asked as I pointed my index finger to it.

"Of course we are gonna circle around it, we don't want to help an arrogant noble," Cecile complained.

"Well, that's the academy symbol on the back of the carriage," Maria added with a binocular on her hands.

I grabbed my binocular from my back and observed the symbol more closely. A shield emblem with a book on the bottom and a sword on top of it. The color was black and white.

"Are you sure?" I asked her as I put the binocular back to its place.

"I am sure," Maria said confidently.

"We have to rescue them, right? You guys know the drill," I commanded.

"Roger that, I will be Golf," Garth said.

"I will be Charlie," Cecile said.

"I will be Mike," Maria said.

"And I will be Whiskey," I said

The drill was to use anything that can conceal our face, use codename for calling each other, and use neck microphone to communicate.

We approached the carrier with such an immense speed that the bandits surprised by our appearance. We started to shoot the bandits. Maria split with us; she went for higher ground.

Wilson: "Charlie and Golf help me rescue the occupants! Mike will stay at the high ground! Go go go!!!"

The bandits got surprised by our appearance. Everyone used their weapon from the horse except Maria. She was sniping from a hill close to us. Cecile shot her HK416 infused with magic. The bandits were falling over one by one.

Maria: "This is Mike, hostile from the direction of 2-8-5."

One of the bandits head got popped off, leaving a mist of blood. Then the others got popped as well from Maria's 7.62 rounds.

Wilson: "Thank you, Mike, Golf will secure the package,"

Garth shot all of the bandits with his MG4 while Maria provided him with cover fire. He reloaded the weapon, and suddenly a bandit appeared from behind him.

Cecile: "Heads down !!!"

Cecile swung her sword, so it cut the bandit that tried to stab Garth in the back.

Garth: "Thank you, Charlie. Moving to clear the remeaning threats."

Wilson: "Copy that, Charlie will secure the package!"

Cecile approached the carrier then opened the door. She saw an a.d.u.l.t with a child that probably older than her. The child was scared of her skull balaclava and her blood-stained clothes. The a.d.u.l.t was a 20-year-old woman.

Wilson: "What is the content from the mailman?"

Cecile: "It's a 20-year-old blue-haired woman wearing glasses while holding a doc.u.ment."

Wilson: "Anything else to report?"

Cecile: "Charlie here, the package has a smaller one. I repeat the package has a smaller one, over."

Wilson: "This is whiskey. Describe the smaller package, over."

Cecile: "A girl with red hair, blue eyes and from the looks of it she is five years old. She is injured and needs further medical attention, over."

Garth: "Is she cute?"

Wilson, Cecile, and Maria: "Say what?"

Cecile: "Maybe, but I'm more cute, yes?"

Wilson: "Charlie will treat the smaller package. Golf, please refrain yourself."

Cecile: "Roger that."

Cecile started to treat the injuries of the child, and I began to search for survivor beside that old man and that child. The only problem was there were too many dead bodies, and some of them were indistinguishable because of the way that Garth shot them.

"Help me..." a low pitched voice could be heard from the distance.

I rushed to the voice and found a bandit still alive. I decided to interrogate him.

"Who is your contractor?" As I pushed my finger into his wound

"I will never tell you," He said.

"Your futile attempt won't achieve anything. Tell me, or you will suffer a painful death!!," I said as I put my finger deeper into his wound.

"Is this the best you can do?" He said with an arrogant tone.

I slashed his abdomen and grabbed his appendix while twisting his internal organ, "This is the best I can do."

"C'mon you can do better than that," he said while grinning his teeth. He was at his limit.

"Look, I can make your death slower, but I think I could make it more painful," I said as I open his c.h.e.s.t then grabbed his lungs.

"See, How does it feel?" I asked as I squeezed his lungs.

"Go to hell!!" He cursed me as he vomited blood.

"Fine by me," as I stretched out his appendix then cut one of his lungs and walked away.

I walked away from the bandit, then I heard a voice, "His name is Antoine Dutertre."

"Are you sure?" I asked him while pulling the slide on my pistol.

"Yeah, I'm sure." He said as blood pouring from all holes in his body

"Good, at least you're honest," I put a bullet in his skull.

I walked around the perimeter, searching for further threats. I thought it would be better if I check the others.

Wilson: "This is Whiskey, requesting the status report, over."

Garth: "This is Golf. Everything is clear."

Maria: "This is Mike. No sign of enemy within the radius of 1000 m."

Cecile: "This is Charlie. The healing spell has done its job. Everything has been done."

I got on my horse then saw a knight in his armor. It was a soldier.

Wilson: "Whiskey to all unit. Evacuate the hot zone ASAP! Split apart then we will rendezvous at duke Alex's mansion."

Garth, Maria, and Cecile: "Copy that, rendezvous in 45 minutes."

We splitter the group in four. The plan was I'm going to enter from the north gate, Cecilia going to come from the south entrance with Maria, and Garth going to enter from either the east or the west gate.

After 30 minutes of riding, I finally arrived at the north gate. The guard asked me some question.

"Where is miss Maria?" He asked, angrily.

"She had gone sooner than me," I said calmly.

"Until young miss safety is guaranteed, you are not permitted to enter," he said.

"Fine," as I sat near the city wall. I tried to communicate with others.

Wilson: "This is whiskey, need confirmation of Mike whereabouts, over."

Garth: "Negative, I don't see her."

Cecile: "She is here with me, She arrived late at the gate, over."

Wilson: "Whiskey will stand by, over and out."

After some talk with the guard, I finally permitted to enter the city.

On my way, I saw the townspeople greeted Maria as usual. They were trying to get on her good side. Some of them were trying to shake her hand and talk to her. The townspeople gathered as a crowd around Maria.

Wilson: "Garth, watch the perimeter. I can't saw anything from this crowd."

Garth: "Understood"

I finally arrived at the mansion safe and sound with the others. It's almost nighttime, so I told Garth and Cecile to take a shower and quickly change into their servant uniform.

After dinner, I invited them all to the garden. The garden had been set up for our party. Maria wore a grey dress, and we wore our servant clothes. I had moved a table to the garden and put a snack and drink in it. I sat beside Garth and Maria sat beside Cecile.

"Nice job everyone," I said while raising my glass.

"For a mission well done," Maria added.

"For our future," Cecile raised her glass.

"For the excitement that we had," Garth added.

"Cheers," I said as I raised my glass higher.
