Snow Elf's Path

Chapter 4 - Harbinger

"He didn't make it? How did the Great Olaf One-Eye not make it?" Yelled out a Guard, clearly not believing what he was hearing. To all of them it just sounded illogical. It was a plan formed in very short notice after all. "He was the one who captured that damn Dragon to begin with!" Stated one of the other Guards in confusion.

"The Dragon took them by surprise.

Trying to save more Guards, he jumped in front of the flames, but it was a worthless effort." Said Arlond, adding more lies to this story. It is quite believable actually. They all consider Olaf One-Eye a "Hero" so this works to their advantage.

Coming closer to the reality that their hero is actually dead, one proceeded to ask. "Well do you know which body is his? This scene is disgusting. There are barely any clothes on these Guards and their skin is burned. I can't tell them apart."

"It's this one. I had a closer look when it happened." Shouted Alena grabbing everyone's attention. Practically pointing at a random dead Guard. But the Guard was shocked enough of the whole situation, enough to believe her. He didn't have time to be suspicious. With only two eyewitnesses, burned bodies and a dead Dragon, he had no other choice but to believe.

"Guards. Grab this body, get the blacksmith of the skyforge. A funeral is to be held. We lost Olaf One-Eye."

"What do you mean we lost Olaf One-Eye?" Asked a woman walking in the scene with several well physically toned Men and Women.

"The Dragon. It attacked everyone Harbinger Alemes. Everything happened too fast." Another Guard trying to prove a stronger point, added. "This man, killed the Dragon, possibly saving everyone from the Dragon attacking the town. He is a hero. But Olaf. He didn't make it, he got burned to a crisp."

"I see. My Companions will handle the funeral and the eyewitnesses will come with me. I have some questions to ask about this whole situation."

Said Harbinger Alemes in a cold low tone. This whole scene smells fishy, and the two's quickly formed lie had a few gaps in it which only a brighter mind can figure out.

"As you wish mam."

"Alright. Why did you kill Olaf One-Eye?" Asked Harbinger Alemes as she slammed her fists on the table in front of her, on the other side of the table were Arlond and Alena seated on a couple of chairs. Apparently she is just trying to get information out of the two only "eyewitnesses." Or she knows something more. Likely both.

"How could we kill Olaf One-Eye. He was able to capture a Dragon. A normal Nord can't do anything like that, we wouldn't stand a chance against him." Replied Arlond. Although his tone didn't show it, he was being sarcastic and maybe even a little bit c.o.c.ky.

"There weren't just burn marks on the dead Guards and the so called "Dead Olaf", you claimed to know who it is. There were sword cuts and broken bones. Fire can't do that." With such facts thrown against them, both of them started feeling nervous. Maybe this Harbinger?? Is less of a fool compared to other Nords.

Alemes is smart yes, but so is Alena. She came up with a rather believable lie. "How do you know that the Guards didn't cut one another due to the panic and the whole havoc of a situation." Spoke out Alena, hoping to manipulate the surprisingly very perceptive Harbinger(Or is it someone else of her group who brought her this information?). She seems to be of the highest ranks of the mercenary group calling themselves the "Companions". A group who fancied Ysgramor.

But too Arlond and Alena's surprise, Alemes said something shocking and even not believable. A sincere tone came out through her lips no doubt. But as Arlond proved, tones can be faked. "Look. What you say here, stays here. I'm not the biggest fan of a man who killed many innocent people for the pure urge of Power and Popularity." Sprinkling more drama in this statement, she proceeded to say. "I'm sure you feel the same, Snow Elf.

That hood isn't helping enough."

"Another non racist Nord. I must be seeing things. I don't know if we can believe you." Said Arlond aiming to change the topic. They did comit murder after all, and Harbinger Alemes doesn't sound very believable.

"I could have dug a sword through your c.h.e.s.t the moment I realized you were a Snow Elf. And i would be rewarded for it. Isn't that enough proof?" Realizing that she was projecting her thoughts to angirly, she took a deep breath and calmly pointed out, "You have no idea how many Snow Elves i helped until now."

"Well you didn't help enough as it seems." Although drifting from the main topic(which was his goal), he did feel her words enough for his heart to ache. "A Camp of twenty Snow Elves was attacked by what seemed to be over a Hundred Nordic Bastards."

"Calm down Arlond." Comforted Alena as she patted his back.

"I'm the only survivor and I don't recall any of them mentioning you, Werewolf."

"I'm so sorry for your losses. But I had nothing to do with it. Also, I wouldn't be so bold to tell any Snow Elf to camp in plain sight." Finally snapping out of her moody facial expression and giving out a smirk, she continued. "Only prey moves in plain sight. A Werewolf's point of view would have helped many of you, if you had the blessing."

"I have no idea how you get the so called "blessing". And I don't want to know." Replied Arlond giving out a smirk, a smirk because he made Harbinger Alemes forget the main topic. How large can his speechcraft exactly be? "But out of curiosity, where would you suggest a Snow Elf to hide?"

"The building you are currently in, Jorrvaskr. Is as old as Elves themselves. It was here before Whiterun was a settlement. It was created shortly after Ysgramor invaded Skyrim.

"Ysgramor was nothing but a Coward hiding behind a 500 men army." Yelled out Alena. She doesn't like Ysgramor? Which could explain the hate she has towards anything Nordic.

Speaking out another surprise, Harbinger Alemes said, "I feel the same. My point is, we Companions don't need to follow the Commands of the King of Whiterun or the High King of Skyrim come to think of it."

"What exactly do you mean? Asked Arlond with his right eyebrow raised high in suspicion.

"We can help the Snow Elves without being killed for it. My Companions don't like Nordic Racists or any racist come to think of it. We want to help the White Elves repopulate."

Although a great shock to hear it from a Women who is the Harbinger of a mercenary group who publicly claim to fancy Ysgramor, he felt that this plan would be ineffective. "How can we repopulate? The group of Twenty men and women is gone. Do you know how many years of effort it took to gather only twenty of them? Skyrim likely doesn't hold any Snow Elves anymore. The Nords won."

"That is where you are wrong." Smirked Harbinger Alemes as she sat on a Chair behind her. "Me and my Companions found a suitable ruin for Snow Elves. We claimed it as Companion property."

"So?"

"Only Companions have access to it.

There are Snow Elves there."

Still refusing to believe her words, Arlond opened his mouth to speak but was immediately interrupted by Alena. "You got to be kidding. What if you run a torture chamber on that ruin? How can we trust you?" She knows how devious Nords can be. She needs to be sure what could be the only Snow Elf on existence, doesn't get sent to his doom.

"Look. The ruin holds 14 Snow Elves. To your race's advantage when it comes to reproduction at this matter, 10 of those Snow Elves are Women. And…"

"And?"

"There are Lady companions who are willing to offer help your kind when it comes to reproducing…" Having a strong hesitation to continue, she added under a low shy tone. "Including me."
