Snow Elf's Path

Chapter 7 - Dagger to the Knee

As the circle of shields escorted Arlond and Alena towards the city gate, some civilians proved difficult. Instead of running away and hiding in their houses, begging the 8 divines for this havoc of a situation to end like they usually do, they actually found the guts to stand against the Companions even though they saw what only one individual Companion, can do.

In front of the circle of shields stood 2 Shield Brothers and a Shield Sister, they were all holding WarHammers. Whatever came in front of their way, be it Guard or Civilian, they would slash the opposers in to bits.

Remaining in the circle of shields were 3 Shield Brothers and 4 Shield Sisters, but Harbinger Alemes wasn't a part of it. She was standing Guard behind the circle of Shields along with 4 other Shield Sisters.

5 Companions were slayed already. One was a mage. It was rare to see mages in a mercenary group like this. And this one no doubt was worthy of the title, but there is little one can do once several Guards are swinging Swords and WarHammers towards you.

1 of the slayed was even one of the Circle. The Circle of 3 that pass out jobs that is, he just met a similar death to the Mage. The other 3 who got slayed were Newcomers, they just couldn't put up with all of this. These are minimal losses compared to how many Guards they dealt with.

One of the newcomers was even stabbed to death by a civilian. The civilian wasn't brave, he was just plain crazy! Rumour has it he got crazy after being attacked by a Dragon. A Dragon that isn't Numinex that is. The trauma left him mentally ill. Today at least he was considered a hero by the civilians. Or he would be if Seeril didn't run him over, stepping on his neck. The crazy old man didn't make it.

Civilians were chasing after the Companions who were making their way towards the Kingdom's main gate. Some Civilians were pointing the direction for the Guards who didn't get killed by the Companions at the first battle and for the few Guards who managed to break through the Shield wall of 5 buff capable Shield Brothers.

But no matter how buff they were, even 10 Shield Brothers like Seeril can't hold off 60 Guards Forever. Not to mention that the Civilians were causing minor damage such as kicking the 5 Shield Brothers from behind. The Shield Brothers didn't break of course but all of them thought of turning around and shoving their shield down the mouths of the jackasses who had enough honour to kick from behind.

The minor numbers of Guards who managed to reach the circle of shields, were either bashed down with a shield by the five sisters or were stabbed to death as a Sword went through them.

The Civilians who actually chose to attack the Companions escaping Whiterun, did it with their b.a.r.e fists or with embarrassing used Iron Daggers. A lot of bravery from people so exposed to Swords.

They managed to do damage though.

A Shield Sister took a Dagger to the Knee once she bashed down an over confident civilian. Seeing nothing but well toned legs from the ground, he took the opportunity to stab one of the sisters.

"Ah!" Said the Shield Sister letting out a small gasp. She did feel the dagger a lot but her fierce attitude didn't leave her complaining about the pain, not even for a moment. She pulled the dagger out of her knee and nailed the Civilians head to the ground with it.

"Cover me!" Yelled Harbinger Alemes who heard her Shield Sister's predicament. Only the Harbinger's legs were to be seen shortly after as her Shield Sisters covered her upper waist. Protecting her from attacks she would be blind sided at while healing her Shield Sister.

She approached the injured sister and unleashed another, "Minor heal other" spell on her as she did with Seeril.

The Shield Sister was healed and the previous bloody hole in her knee vanished in plain sight due to the bloody red light surrounding her knee. The Shield Sister wasn't dragging her leg any longer and returned back to her previous position. As if they are used to situations like these she managed to get back in Order without wasting a blink.

After what felt like an eternity, they reached the main gates. But at what cost? The God Forsaken thing was barred from the other side. It didn't open. The only way to exit the city now is if they climbed over the gate or went through the disgusting sewers. Or…

"I got this." Said Arlond in Confidence as he took a step away from the circle protecting him, and gestured for everyone to move away from the Gate.

"Fus Ro Dah!" He shouted and broke the main gates in four big pieces. Finally they were able to escape this hellhole and leave the tragedy behind.

"What about the Brothers?" Askes a Shield Sister.

"Get these two to safety. Get them to the ruin, i'll handle this." Yelled Harbinger Alemes in the middle of the Chaos.

"Harbinger it is too dangerous and no doubt suicidal. We should head to safety i can not allow you to kill yourself in that battle." Stated a Shield sister as she started pulling Harbinger Alemes' arm, trying her best to convince her.

"They are of the best fighters. They can handle double the amount. If we lose you, our group would divide." Added another Sister.

Weighing her options, she decided. "Alright. Let's goo." She yelled with regret already, burden filling her heart and one person in her mind. "I hope you survive this Seeril and i hope you won't get mad at me." Thought Harbinger Alemes. As she led the circle of protection away from Whiterun, away from Danger.
