Without minding the weeping maid that he just kicked out of his way, Mu Ruochen strode across the doorway towards his granddaughter's room.

He knocked three times consecutively before he leaned closer to the door and called her out,

"Little girl???? Grandfather is here. Open the door"

but he did not get any answer. It was as if there's no one inside the room.

Mu Ruochen was feeling frustrated this time. He instructed Mu Lingxi to accompany Prince Long Fuzi around. While he was planning to continue discussing the marriage arrangement between Mu Lingxi and Long Fuzi.

If possible, he would like to bring up the engagement for Mu Yanxiao and the crown prince as well. Hitting two birds in one stone.

Yet before he could even start hinting to the emperor, Prince Long Fuzi came back with a dark expression. It was easy to guess that his supposed date with Mu clan's young miss, Mu Lingxi, did not get well.

After some perfunctory talk, the father and son duo excused themselves and went back to the palace, just like that. Well apparently, the good thing is that they did not decide to call off the marriage proposal between his granddaughter Mu Lingxi and Prince Long Fuzi. Because if that happens, that will be a great loss on his part.

He wonders what could have happened to the two youth but after some contemplation, he decided to let go of the idea.

In any case, as long as the marriage will proceed as agreed upon, anything aside from that was just trivial matters. Whatever transpired between the prince and his granddaughter was certainly out of his concern anymore.

Yet as if his granddaughter was not satisfied if she will not get that much attention today, she decided to act up again. Mu Ruochen was about to have his lunch when a servant came rushing on his room telling him the news about their young miss.

"This granddaughter's stubbornness was getting more and more out of hand."

He commented as he readied himself to visit Mu Lingxi's chamber.

When he arrived, he saw a pale looking maid. He was intending to ask her about what happened to get a better idea but before he could talk to her properly, the maid started crying.

His anger flared up that is why he failed to control his temper and kicked that irritating maid, who happens to be Yanyan.

"Xiao Lingxi,... open the door. Or else I will ask our guards to pull down your door."

Mu Ruochen was losing his temper, and this time he used a threatening voice as he said those words.

He tried to peek inside the room and listen for any sign of movement, but the result is the same. It was dead silent inside.

Three guards simultaneously barge at the entrance of Mu Lingxi's room. Using a thick log, they destroy the door isolating the silent room to everyone's prying eyes.

"Where is she???"

"What happens to our young miss???"

"Why do I feel that head clan was overreacting??"

When the door was finally shattered into broken pieces of wood, Mu Ruochen dash inside the room. To his surprise, the room was empty!

Dirty clothes were stocked in a pile in one corner, the bed was a mess. Even the curtains were all dr.a.p.e down. Shunning all the light to enter the room.

When Yanyan saw how the room looks like, she instantly takes a look at their clan head's expression.

"I certainly fixed her bed this morning. I clean her room regularly. I swear!"

Her widen eyes almost wanted to shout that out. Thankfully, Mu Ruochen did not mind the mess in the room even the slightest. He just stands there inside as if his shoes were fixed at the ground.

A faint sound of water splashing was audible within the room if they will just listen to it closely. Mu Ruochen followed by the guards walked toward the isolated room inside the big chamber.
