Janus has no qualms for accepting his kind offer. It did not take him long to start digging in as well.

Yet contrary to his usual voracious eating habit, this cute little cat now was akin to a well-behaved and highly-trained pet. He was nibbling on his food with so much class.

But this quick acceptance of the sudden turn of events does not go the same with Mu Lingxi.

Unlike her cat, Mu Lingxi did not have that much appetite. Despite being a glutton through and through, she still had the pride to uphold.

It was just a while ago, that she had accused this man across him of being a thief. Then right now she felt like he was flaunting his wealth by acting this magnanimous.

After all, not everyone will treat someone they just met for the first time. In this expensive tavern on top of that!

One more thing that keeps on bothering her is her intuition. She can't help but think that this Yuan Tao seems too eager to help her. Why????

"Do I have to feel sorry for what I said and how I acted all this time??? Or should I feel suspicious for this kindness he was showing me???"

Mu Lingxi was being reluctant to accept everything. Especially because of what she had suffered back on the Mu clan. She can't help but doubt his sincerity.

"Why? Are the foods not in your liking? Don't worry, I'm not planning to poison you in this public place. HAHA"

"Here, try this."

He patiently cut the peppered meat into pieces then he placed a slice of it on Mu Lingxi's plate while he was smiling sweetly.

Mu Lingxi can't help but notice those deep dimples accentuating Yuan Tao's smile. Also, when she lifted her gaze and tried to observe him further, she saw his deep gray eyes. The exact color of the sky and clouds before it rains.

This will be her first time observing Yuan Tao at this close, and she can't help but praise his gene!

"He was so------"

"MEOW"

[Little lass what are you thinking?]

"----Handsome."

Mu Lingxi blurted out of the blue. She was startled by Janus' interruption on her train of thoughts that is why she accidentally said it aloud.

that he was about to send on his mouth was left suspended as he looked at Mu Lingxi which at this time was wearing the face of a man.

They both flushed crimson as awkwardness started to creep within the table. Plunging them into a momentary state of silence.

Thankfully, it was this time that they heard the laughter of a man approaching them.

The voice was coming from the direction of Mu Lingxi's back so her back was facing the figure of the coming man.

On her peripheral vision, she saw a shadow of a burly man. His voice was deep and sounded as if it was coming from a deep well or under the ground.

"My greetings, young master. It's the p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e of my humble place to be graced by your presence."

The owner of the tavern said perfunctorily.

"NO biggies,..."

Yuan Tao answered shortly afterward.

"I have a favor to ask, please"

As he said that, he gestured to the man to sit at the empty chair beside him.

When Mu Lingxi finally saw the man behind this 'eat-all-you-can' tavern, she almost fell to her chair.

"MEOW"

[At last! I'll get see how the owner looks like!]

Janus was also intrigued to see the owner. Yet the master and cat duo were both befuddled upon meeting the owner of the tavern for the first time.

They both fell into a state of confusion as question marks started to sprout on their

heads.

"Is he the owner?!"
