Sorceress 101

After the incident with Mu Yanxiao, Mu Lingxi decided to be more careful. She won't let others bully her. Not in this life again. She had enough already. She takes it as a responsibility to live her newfound life happier and more meaningful.

Before going back inside her room, she called Yanyan.

"Yanyan, I want you to prepare me and yourself a pair of clothes for commoners. You will be going to accompany me outside tonight. I wish to see the city"

Yanyan's eyes glowed with anticipation. It was a rare opportunity for a maidservant like her to go outside the residence especially at night. She missed the bustling city, the colorful taverns and the delicious exotic foods that were sold at the food stalls. Mu Lingxi was happy to see that Yanyan was excited about the trip. She also feels the same way. She would like to experience how it feels to live a life in this world and she decided to start it with the night market. She still remembers how happy she was when she first had a food trip on her previous life. The large variety of street foods sold at every stall.

"I wonder if they have some sort of calamari, fish ball, kikiam, squid balls, or tukneneng in this place. Or even just a siomai??? What do you think Janus?" she asked her little black cat when she was finally seated back to her bed.

"MEOW" [ Naaahh... I doubt that. This was completely different from the world we came from. In fact, I won't be surprised if we see some weird items in the market later." ]

Mu Lingxi shot her cat an incredulous gaze. "You spoiler!"

The night soon came, Mu Yanxiao and Yanyan were standing outside the clan's gate wearing ordinary clothes. Both of the girls were obviously excited to enjoy the night of their lives. Mu Lingxi let Yanyan to took the lead and soon they reached the city. They were greeted by the noisy crowd. The city was so busy even at night. The place was so lively and colorful. Different flower lanterns were hanging above their head lighting the road ahead for everyone.

They visited and buy different foods from one stall to another. Everything was new to Lingxi's eyes. The foods being sold in this place were all extraordinary.

She happily observes everything around her. Then on the corner of her eyes, she suddenly saw something that looks like cotton candy.

"Woah., I would like to try this one. Give me one." She told the vendor as she handed him a gold coin. She tasted the cotton candy and it tasted so sweet!

"Ohh... I loved this one... Yanyan please make sure to bring me some of this." She said with her eyes still closed and slowly savoring the sweetness of the food.

"Are you sure young miss?" Yanyan asked her unsure if her young miss was kidding her.

"Yeah, I'm sure about that, Why? Is it that hard to make this one?" she wondered why Yanyan has that kind of look on her face.

"Not at all young miss, I just can't believe that you will take a fancy to the COTTON SHEEP' s wool."

"COTTON SHEEP??! You mean this one is some kind of wool harvested from a sheep?!"

"Yes, my lady. The COTTON SHEEP on our farm is the best of all sheep. It was reared especially on the white mountain creek and drinks nectar as their water" said the vendor smiling wildly showing his crooked teeth.

And as if afraid that Mu Lingxi won't believe his words, he asked one of his boys to go and fetch one of their COTTON SHEEP. He even demonstrated how he manually harvested the wools, just like how cutting the hair of a pet was being done. Mu Lingxi and her cat Janus tried to vomit and dispel what they just ate but it was long gone. Probably currently in the process of being digested on their system.

"MEOW" [ Let us just forget what we heard. We can just pretend that we don't know where it came from right?] her cat tried to console her but they both feel like they were coyed.

Mu Lingxi ignored his cat and instead look at Yanyan who was eating something that resembles Pringles.

"And what was that made from?" Mu Lingxi became more cautious and ask Yanyan first before tasting one.

"Well, this one is some kind of tree bark. It was leisurely chipped away from a CINCHONA TREE" Yanyan unhurriedly answered as she takes a bite from the chip.

Mu Lingxi finds it more acceptable to eat so she decided to give it a try. It tasted like Piattos' roadhouse barbeque.

" I never thought that a simple bark of a tree-like this can turn to be a delectable food in this place." Mu Lingxi exclaimed.

Yanyan wonders why her young miss acts so strange. It was as if it was her first time knowing this kind of food. Nevertheless, she never doubted the identity of her young miss and attributed it to Mu Lingxi's status. Maybe she is just not used to eating common foods.

They continued to loiter around occasionally tasting foods. Mu Lingxi was so amazed to learn all of these foreign delicacies. Other vendors sell some weird fruits like the GRAPPLE. Something that looks like a combination of gr.a.p.es and apples. She also saw some gummy candies made from the scales of a reptile and they called it GUMMY GEMS. She even tried drinking some sort of tree dew and it tasted like wine. It was so delicious and they called it AMBROSIA.

"This little cat was so cute young miss, where did you get it?" Yanyan asked while scratching Janus under his ears.

"PURRRRR" [ This girl has a good eye. Not bad. ]

"I sign a contract with it. His name is Janus, he is my contractual beast." Mu Lingxi replied nonchalantly.

Yanyan stood petrified on the spot. She would never dare to imagine that this cute little cat will be the spiritual beast of Mu Lingxi. Isn't a common knowledge that every spiritual beast should be ferocious, and large? No matter how she tried to incorporate those words to the cat on her arms, she can't see any resemblance. Moreover, who would allow others to pet or even touch his or her own spiritual beast? While others treated their spiritual beast as if their close kin or rarest treasure, her young miss actually treat it as a pet.

She even allowed others to touched her precious beast. Yanyan felt like she was special. She reckoned that Mu Lingxi really trusted her that much that is why she allowed a lowly servant like her to pet the beast.

"I will never betray your trust young miss," Yanyan swears in her heart.

Mu Lingxi will never know that her single gesture will be misinterpreted and will gain her one loyal follower.
